    I made this trip a few months ago in a 22-year-old 4runner. No snow but tons of giant holes in the road. I also drove from NY. I did it on a whim after a buddy questioned what I was going to do with my wife's uncle's old truck after he passed. I told him I was going to fix it and drive it to Deadhorse Alaska. So I did. Thanks for sharing your trip.

    Thanks! This is a very exciting video! Now, for your collection, you need to drive to the Arctic Ocean from Russia. And there in the northern cities in winter the temperature reaches -120 F. And in my city there are such desperate travelers on prepared off-road vehicles who go on such expeditions to the far north in winter, and even there was such a thing that they repaired the engine right in the tundra at a temperature of -100 F (closing with a polythene and heating the space) when the connecting rod broke off from the piston on one of the cylinders. So welcome to Russia, there are places very similar to Alaska in winter.

      @@LifestyleOverland Yes - "The ways of the Lord are inscrutable"! Someday you may want to visit Russia, I will be happy to accompany you on a trip, for example, to the main Ural ridge (not very far from my city and the large Ural city of Yekaterinburg) - to the mountains, and I noticed that you like to travel where there are mountains! Or you can go to the world's largest freshwater lake Baikal (it is very beautiful there), or to very beautiful places - the Altai Mountains (American Justas Walker and his family have been living there for many years - there is a UA-cam channel), or to the mountainous Caucasus.
      I myself sometimes drive my prepared Toyota FJ Cruiser SUV (although much less often than you) on light off-road, I drive an Audi Q8 car (this is my car for everyday driving). I myself live in the provincial city of Perm in the Urals (you can watch a UA-cam video about my city "НЕ Москва! ПЕРМЬ! Прогулка по историческому центру города. ПРЯМОЙ ЭФИР!"), so welcome to Russia!
      Russians are very hospitable people, look at how in the comments people support a Canadian who sold everything in Canada and for the sake of 9 children (given the policy of family values in Russia, unlike Canada) moved to Russia in February 2024, bought land and is now building his house "Our CANADIAN home in RUSSIA!! Наш КАНАДСКИЙ дом в РОССИИ!!"
      Good luck on your trips (I will be waiting for your new videos) and may the Lord bless your wonderful family...

      @@LifestyleOverland I may have incorrectly converted degrees Celsius to degrees Fahrenheit! When the guys were doing repairs in the tundra, the air temperature was -37 degrees Celsius (the table shows that +37 degrees Celsius is 100 degrees Fahrenheit, but perhaps the cold is calculated differently) And the temperature in the places where they went reaches -55 Celsius! They drove 4 cars to the city of Dixon and on the way back, after driving about 200 miles, they got up for repairs (Toyota land Cruiser 100 car) eventually repaired (and drove this car without 1 worker to the house, but the engine later had to be changed)
      And 2 years before this trip, they went to the city of Amderma in the far north as well! The main thing is that the car has different backup heating systems, an elevator from 5 inches and wide tires (because you often have to drive on a snow-covered virgin land with flat tires) Of course, this is dangerous because you can only drive along the winter road during a certain period (from February to March) the rest of the time there are severe snowstorms or a thaw in which you can not drive) And considering that there are distances of 200-300 miles between settlements (according to the map of Russia this can be understood) then of course these are risky expeditions but they are worth it they stand for the sake of feelings and memories!

      @@LifestyleOverland Of course come and take your friends with you! We have a lot of beautiful girls (friends will find a bride) - the video: "😎July 2024. Moscow center. Location Patriarch's Ponds" and the inexpensive cost of living in the video is an example that corresponds to food prices, and it is higher than the average in Russia "Russian TYPICAL (Luxury) Supermarket: Would You Shop Here?" 100 dollars of living expenses in Russia is about 300-400 dollars of living expenses in the USA so a tourist trip will cost you little (and if we talk in general, life in Russia is also inexpensive - education and medical services are free - according to a medical policy that is issued for life, but of course there are many private medical clinics, utility bills are also inexpensive, or for example, I pay insurance for cars (payment immediately for 1 year in advance, but you can pay for six months or 3 months) Toyota + Audi for about $ 120 per car for Internet + cable TV for $ 14-15 per month (at home, the Internet speed is up to 500 megabits per second), cellular communication - $ 9 per month (this is for my 2 SIM cards - one of them is in my Audi (because I'm just like you on your videos in music screensavers - I listen to fresh indie-style music on the road with an annual "Yandex-music"subscription (including the sound I use at home - in a smart speaker as well as in an integrated music system with ceiling acoustics, this is a very convenient thing with a large music library of hundreds of thousands of tracks - new items and music for every taste and this subscription it cost me $310 a year! I'm saying all this about music because I really like your tracks (indie style - beautiful vocals, guitar, etc...) on screensavers where there is beautiful nature and mountains!)
      All this is necessary so that you have a general picture of expenses during a tourist trip in Russia!
      So for a place to relax on exotic islands (for example Bali or the paradisiacal Maldives - where we like to go on vacation), visit Russia and you will not regret it! If for you the middle (or more northern) strip of Russia is a very uncomfortable cold climate, then welcome to the Black Sea coast, for example, the city of Sochi with a California climate and houses on hills overlooking the sea or mountains (or at the same time in one window the sea in another window the mountains) with a high-tech/minimalistic exterior and interior design (also renovated myself in this style last year)! Welcome....

    This is true overlanding. Vehicle based travel "outside your home country", where the purpose of the trip IS the travel, not the camping. Engagement with locals, seeing the world from their perspective, and contributing to their economy by breaking bread and buying more than just the necessary fuel from the local people. This is great uncommercialized content! Nice work. Thank you.

      @LifestyleOverland  24 дні тому

      Alaska is just incredible. Personally, we don't get hung up on definitions. Get out and travel where and when you can but most importantly remember to soak in the whole experience. A lot of "elite" folks want to put it in a box but that's losing sight of what it's about to begin with. There are many degrees of "hikers" just like there are many degrees of "overlanders". If you're out here hunting for an identity or renoun; then it's likely you're missing the real adventure.

    • @fabulousoffroaddesigns5080
      @fabulousoffroaddesigns5080 24 дні тому

      @@LifestyleOverland well I don't think it's "elite" or elitist to understand the difference between car/truck camping, boondocking, touring, RVing, and overlanding, no matter how uncommon that knowledge is. All are great sources of adventure.
      Like vehicle based travel, there are certainly many types of hiking, but backpacking is not the same as "Scaling The Seven Summits". This video was a lot more "Seven Summits" then it was wearing a backpack 🎒 to school.
      Don't get me wrong, I love everything you do, but miss labelling it, or lumping it all under one name doesn't make it cooler. Even if it makes it more profitable. Infact, for many who are too shy to say, it is very much the opposite. And for those who don't know; they likely never will due to the massive amount of incorrect information circulating on the inter webs. Ignorance can be bliss.
      If nothing else these comments should get you some engagement. You're welcome 🤗
