Awesome video. !! Plus good background music !! Unfortunately, many of the best games in Japan were not released in the US. There were many great shooters for the PC Engine -- over 120 !! NEC made some critical mistakes !! You are a great reviewer as well as a terrific game content creator !! You are the most intelligent of all game content creators !!
Thank you for this amazing upload! Your videos are amazing, the technical details combined with the original footage from back in the day are just amazing. The way you narrate it is also very easy to listen to and makes the videos very comfortable. I am a big fan of those long format videos, so combining your episodes into one long upload after you finished them is amazing for me. I hope this gains track and gets recommended to many more retro fans! I know that there are many thousands people out there who are exactly searching for this kind of video! I am by no means a social media expert, but maybe it helps to call it the complete history of the “XXX”. I see such videos often have a lot of views, maybe the word history triggers the algorithm more than review. Anyways no matter how many views it gets, I definitely see the effort all this takes and am very thankful that you did all this for free for some random people all around the world to enjoy. It is very appreciated and I will definitely continue to watch all your videos. As the other guy suggested, the Saturn would also be amazing to add, especially its unique hardware makes it so interesting. It is by far the best 2D console ever produced! I never had one back in the day, since it was very rare in Germany, but I bought one a few months ago and I became a super fan! I don’t like the 3D games that much, but I absolutely adore the 2D games of the Saturn! I wish the Saturn had a bigger homebrew scene and people would take advantage of its full 2D power. I’d love to play games that fully utilize all those chips! The Dreamcast has a huge homebrew scene, but the Saturn is unfortunately still missing out.
Coming next week The Ultimate Sega Saturn review,i know dude iv been bugging you with that question for about 2 years on and off.Great video as always.
Thanks @oxogood9018! Sega Saturn is on my radar, but I've just been sooo busy with life.😅 Really need to get back into my old video production routine. It was definitely easier when I had more time. Rest assured it will happen, appreciate the patience... can't believe it's been 2 years. 😲
Much love for your dedication to this fantastic game console from Japan. I still have my Duo that I purchased from Turbo Zone Direct. I still add to the collection here and there. Even though the prices are rather high nowadays. Keep making this quality content. It's much appreciated.
Awesome Job. Regarding why Galaga 90 was released for the Turbografx 16/PCE, it was an arcade port for Galaga 89. In other words, it was a recent arcade game rather than just being an upgrade to the classic. There were actually 2 sequels between the original Galaga, and Galaga 89, but we never received those in the US. So it was also the latest in an ongoing series.
New Adventure Island -- called Wonder Boy in the Arcades published by Sega !! Was also on the Master System !! On the NES -- Hudson’s Adventure island !!
I convinced my best friend to get a TG-16 back in 1992 so when combined with my Super NES and Sega Genesis, between us we would be able to play every 16-bit game out there. Well, he never forgave me for that, and by high school we were no longer hanging out. His last words directed to me during our sophomore year before I moved away were said loudly, venomously, and for all to hear: “Anybody want to buy a never-used TurboGrafx-16?”
Good stuff. I didn't own one, but an Uncle on one side of my family and a cousin on the other both got one Christmas of 89. I was at one of their places pretty much every weekend so I got to play it a lot. Keith Courage impressed me when you first transform. The music was perfect too. However it did start to lose it's shine after a while. China Warrior the size of the sprites floored me. But like Keith it started to lose my interest after a while. Blazing Lazers blew my mind. The music, the look, the amount of things on screen with no flicker was crazy back then. Alien Crush I was obsessed with until Devil's Crush came out. I still play both. I love Alien but an hour tops is all I can handle before that screen changing makes it impossible to ignore anymore.
Hey! I really enjoyed this video! You're doing a great job. Got a sub from me and I'm def gonna check out the rest of your videos. Keep up the great work!
Although I bought Genesis first I would get the TurboGrafx-16 shortly after. It was very frustrating as a TG16 owner as game releases were few and far between compared to Genesis & SNES especially after it’s 2nd year. But there was still plenty of exclusive games to enjoy. I still have my original CIB TurboGrafx-16 I bought way back in 1990. My favorite TurboChip game is Air Zonk and CD game is Vasteel.
Still regret selling my Turbo Duo back in the day. The original PC Engine console is one of the most aesthetically pleasing machines ever made IMO and the redesign for the American market was a huge mistake. Also something I learned from your history lesson that I did not know is the shunning by 3rd party developers for the launch in the North American market, which would turn out to be a big blow the long term success for NEC. Plus not bringing more Japanese titles over to increase the library size was another stumble by NEC.
I think Hudson developed the HuCard technology themselves or at leas via a 3rd party. This would have been a good video if the games were presented without distortion.
Keith Courage cemented the end of the turbo graphics in the USA they should have had a packing game that showed off everything the system can do!! But they had a bunch of old farts from Atari directing them😢sad
I should clarify, I beat this game "in the first time playing" means, after starting if for the first time, I beat the game before I powered it off and walked away from the console. It took a few attempts. After playing through a bunch of shooters in a row, I was getting pretty good at them.
Thank You for giving us the TurboGrafx 16 documentary that Ken Burns never gave us.
You're very welcome! ☺️
An awesome 3 hour video dedicated to my all time favorite home console? Yes please!
I hope you enjoy it!
@@PlayerOneStart I did!
3 hours of turbografx? Awesome!
I had to do it justice! 🙂
Really enjoyed this "retro"-spective on the TG16. Appreciate the time and work that went into this. great stuff.

Dragon Spirit - excellent shooter !! Super Hard !! Great soundtrack !!
Great stuff young lad! Bloody brilliant.

I appreciate you supporting the TurboGrafx! It's always nice to hear from fellow collectors.
This was a great video. Thank you!
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Blazing Lazers - one of the best !!
Awesome Job.

I agree with all your reviews !!!
Yo Bro is underrated. I love weird games like that, it was a creative game.

Fantasy Zone blows away the Sega Master System Version !!
"...or else this video would be incredibly long." Me: looks at runtime. Well gosh thank goodness that didn't happen ;)
😅
Hey Tyler, do you have, or do you plan to make a room/collection tour? Interested to see your full setup!
I do have a couple of "Game Room" videos, though the latest (at the time of this comment) is dated in 2020.

JJ and Jeff - very bad !!

I’m glad you were able to enjoy it, even though it was hard to find games!
I found my PCE with CD
and interface a couple of years ago. The CD needed repair. It's kind of beaten up, but works well.
It's awesome that you were able to find it again.

It would have been great if Hudson Soft put out an Atari collection back in 1989-90 era.
Yeah, I agree, that would have been pretty awesome!
Fun fact the PC engine CPU is faster than the Super Nintendo and the Genesis!!
I think Hudson developed the HuCard technology themselves or at leas via a 3rd party. This would have been a good video if the games were presented without distortion.
They should have named it something else. This is a great 8/16 bit system that should have done well in the US.
Keith Courage cemented the end of the turbo graphics in the USA they should have had a packing game that showed off everything the system can do!! But they had a bunch of old farts from Atari directing them😢sad
Sorry, you finished Aero Blasters on your first try? Did I understand correctly?

Moto Roader -- sorry I bought this one back in the day !!! One of the worst games on the Turbo !!
Wonderboy III is actually quite challenging...would not recommend as a casual game :p
