I can’t believe that they’re going the nostalgia route with the final expansion, it’s so cliche and disappointing.
@@Jpow5734seeing Cayde is the best wym
@@nanosmokex6998it’s lazy, poor storytelling. Not what the finale of an almost 10 year story needs.

The Final Overdelivery
Facts
The final microtransaction
with these layoffs they want to underdeliver
The final straw
That’s some hard copium you’re on there, sir.😂
It's genuinely disgusting how bungie got away with so much scummy shit and it took YEARS for the fanbase to wake up
thats the fanbase alotta meatriders and corpo whales
Lol evans guilty of that the most
Marathon is Bungie's equivalent to Creative Assembly's Hyena's. Marathon will see the light of day and fail miserably. Marathon and neglect of Destiny 2 is a fail - fail for Bungie.
@@s_rene_jgTrue, but he is also one of the few people to have the balls to criticize Witch Queen. The wider community putting Witch Queen in the same tier as Forsaken and Taken King is laughable. It’s not even as good as Rise of Iron.
@@alter6243 lol but he was also one of the biggest beyond light apologists defending that thing with his life at launch. I still remember him getting upset during a stream and ending it early just because people were giving valid criticisms about the lackluster dlc
I never thought that I would step off destiny until a year ago. For me it’s not just about a good or bad expansion, it’s the way they treat us, like dude how much money do u need? Eververse, seasons, dungeon keys, expansions, each year they’re adding something that makes me feel bad that I’m playing it. I really want to play destiny but each time I log in its just not the same as it was. I truly miss this game.
You do realize that if they made everything in the game free then they wouldn’t be able to develop the game right? You sound like you have no clue how the gaming industry works at all, so if you’re uninformed stop making these pathetic attempts at sounding like you know what you’re talking about 👍
Same. For me it was the grind, the massive time(gated) sink to get to anything I was actually after. I have an actual job, I play games for fun and relaxation. Not to have a second job, that I pay for, that gets increasingly monetized over time. The worst bit though is that all this time I was blaming the devs through my disenchantment into apathy when it was never their fault
Star Citizen - hold my beer. :)
I am totally over all of this gaming nonsense now. I bought into Destiny 2 and Star Citizen. These gaming companies know no bounds when it comes to wanting and spending money. They pay themselves a lot of money too, considering their incompetence, I am not sure they deserve it. lol
True, in the past I couldn't put the game down and would consistently spend money because I was so happy with the game but now with how much they squeezed the fan base and how repetitive and boring the game is I haven't played or payed D2 in almost 6 months. Sad times
I absolutely loved the old leveling system that destiny 1 and early destiny 2 had. You didn’t just go straight up to the power cap, you had to just put on whatever the heck you got from that green or blue engram and had to work with it.
Lightfall should have been a Forsaken 2, with the main story happening in Neomuna until we unlock the end game content, which probably would have been in the heart of the traveller.
Lightfall being in a far-off, unknown location was itself a mistake. A full-scale Shadow Legion invasion of Earth as a misdirection while the Witness scoured Venus for the Macguffin would have had higher stakes. A Plaguelands-sized new zone on Earth with a reprised Venus including all of the Ishtar underground area from Neptune would have been similar effort to build, but not make it feel like a the whole expansion was a sidequest. No new characters needed at all.
Maybe Strand could have been something the Ishtar collective discovered, but unquestionably led to their undoing. Seal it away like the Flood containment facilities from Halo, force you to choose uncertain death from a mysterious power, or certain death from the squad of Tormentors chasing you down. Make it a little more tense to engage with than just green schmoo found in the street that makes you tired.
The redzone fumble that was Lightfall's story is physically painful.
Neomuna is another mistake imo, I really do think we should have ALWAYS been the real last city, and even if there was another one it shouldn’t have been a generic 80s cyberpunk style one that every other futuristic game and tv show has done already. It’s not even recognizable as destiny if you remove the enemies and hud
@@rockl79Neomuna feels like a lazy repeat of the awoken as the latter already fulfils the role of "Separated section of humanity" and fhe distributary would have made sense for lightfalls location.
@@random_n fr, i think of the magics and awe of destiny was lost when they started incoporating mythical worlds. Exploring interpretations of Mars, Venus, and Moon was so cool in destiny 1. It almost answers a question everyone had about these other worlds. Dreaming city and tangled shore was cool because they areas was designed well. Europa was bland and not awe inspiring. It didn't have the towering golden age ruins we would expect for a Clovis Bray stronghold or the frozen ships from the Encleadus concept art. They had all that build-up for Old Chicago for Witch Queen just to ditch it for some made-up dimension. For Neomuna, it doesn't even make sense to have a city within a gas giant. They def should of stuck with real planets/moons.
Joker was warning us the entire time. Telling us, and the community just mocked him. Sickening, cause he has been saying the thing Skill said years prior. I'm just disappointed in all of this man.
But JOKER!?
Dude Joker has been spitting facts for years. 🖤
Years ago we all joked and laughed when we heard people say "Bungie, fix your game!"
Now, we all angrily cry out "Bungie, fix your company!"
I was that person pleading with players to please not instantly pre-order and throw money at the eververse...you reap what you sow
Even if they pulled of a expansion on the level of Forsaken or better...It still won't change the fact, that this isn't the Bungie we all know and love. I'm honestly considering if i wanna continue playing - it's just really hard to feel something positive RN, when most of the people who made Destiny what it is? Are now gone, replaced by corpos who have no idea what they're doing :'(
To me it should and end Destiny
I stopped playing the day before Lightfall released. Tbh I’ve missed some things but all in all it was 100% worth leaving.
Dude they didn't layoff everyone. They laid off 100 people. There are still 1100 people at Bungie and 650+ are working on D2. There was probably less or about the same amount of people working on D2 before as there is now. Plus before all of this, people would say "I'm leaving after TFS". Ok that's fine. But you are still doing that whether the company had layoffs or not.
@@ThePackman627 because people have been losing faith in Bungie, Lightfall was a bag bungie fumbled and they blame that on the players not on themselves. The constant growing microtransaction problem in the game with locking shaders behind $15-20 bundles, reselling old cosmetics for exorbitant prices when they were originally $10, dungeon keys, and raising the price of season passes to where players who don't buy the deluxe edition have to pay more than what the new price is even at because they don't offer that price of silver. The layoffs is just the icing on the cake with them firing extremely loved and important roles in the game's creation and perfection then the CEO trying to shift the blame to take zero responsibility in who he chose to fire. Then because of this we also find out the devs have been trying to make the game better but the executives refuse to improve the state of the game all while blaming the players the whole time especially throughout this entire year. They want us to make them succeed while screwing us over. That's why players are constantly saying "I'm leaving after TFS." Why should the consumer be attacked and blamed for the higher ups' crappy management of the company which leads to a crap product that nobody wants to buy.
@@ThePackman627 Of course they didn't "fire" everyone, but if you lay off people that were with Bungie since the Halo/D1 days - including both composers and social media leads? Something isn't right. I mean they didn't even have the decency to tell it to some people, they found out on Twitter...I'm not saying the game will suddenly die, but it's not a good look at all.
The only scenario where I personally don't quit after final shape is if most of the upper management at bungie gets fired. I don't trust them to keep making the right decisions.
Even then, I doubt I'll stay around with Destiny... the game has run its course for me
right decisions? XDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
The reasons why I love destiny is because of its story, art style/world design and it’s music (which to be honest are the last things that are keeping me from giving up on destiny) And with one of those core pillars gone with the lay off of Michael Salvatori the man who composed nearly the entirety of the destiny soundtrack, hell he’s the man who created probably one of the most iconic and legendary soundtracks in gaming history with halo, which to me shows plain as day where bungie’s mindset is and shows to us how much they’ve changed from the developers who we used to hold so dear to our hearts. I’ve had too many cherished moments alongside these pieces of musical art for it not to affect me and change how I view this game.
I know that with Michael being the incredible composer he is that he’ll probably not have trouble finding work but I feel for him because you can tell how much he loved creating this soundtrack and just how much passion he had for destiny, it’s just so sad that he’ll not be here for the finale of its story.
We’ll miss you Michael and I hope you find luck with whatever the future has in store for you.
They already recorded the soundtrack for The Final Shape. He won’t be around for projects post Final Shape but the work on that was already done
I wouldn't be surprised if they contract him for future projects
@@broderickfoster2107 well that’s at least something nice but the situation is still incredibly depressing.
@@turftrash3971 that would be quite possible
I doubt he’ll have to look for work. Since this all blew up he’s probably had multiple offers already considering his talent.
Doesn’t make Bungies‘ behaviour any less disgusting tho‘.
Gonna be make or break for Bungie on the Final Shape. Though personally, I don't know if I can bring myself to come back after experiencing life and other games.
I can survive a bad dlc (lightfall) been through thick and thin
But this situation is more than just a game it’s more than just under delivery
IT’s people’s lives
It doesn’t matter how much money we give or how well final shape is
Those people aren’t getting their job back
And the fact bungie did this on purpose (waiting till the 30th to do lay offs) shows just how scummy they are and it’s tainted what destiny/bungie meant to me
what about it being on the 30th makes it worse
So don’t?
@@Altaccounttwo If you're laid-off at Bungie, employee benefits are retained until the end of the month. So like if they've got a dental plan, someone could get laid off at the start of the month but go get their teeth fixed under the plan in the middle of the month despite no longer working there technically. So waiting till the 30th of a 31 day month means employees only got 1 extra day of those benefits. Which when added with the fact the layoffs kinda came out of nowhere for just about everyone who got laid off, makes it feel very scummy.
@@Altaccounttwo for the employees it’s the worst cuz of their benefits
Aside from healthcare/insurance all other benefits ended on the 31st so they only had one day which bungie leadership was aware of and purposely waited till now instead of say early October
For example (cuz idk all their benefits) say they have a benefit of helping pay for college
You’d now be in the next term or monthly payment with no extra support which increases your out of pocket expenses but because you just got loss your job you might not even be able to pay that
Or if you could you’d be losing quite a bit of money
It’s also the worst cuz they literally got laid off the day before a holiday only thing that would of made it worse is if they got laid off before Christmas especially after buying gifts
competition breeds effort and quality, and unfotunelty destiny 2 has no direct competion. so bungie keeps shooting themselve to create some sort of challenge
Literal skill issue on their end. Warframe devs saw people complain about there not being a trailer for years old content and they fucking made it. QoL improvements were made, not necessarily because its the current Reddit-hiveminds sentiment, but because it makes the game better. Hell, perhaps Bungo should consider learning a thing or two from FF14, considering the current game director for Warframe is a fan of it herself (for good reason)
it’s why Warframe keeps growing each day a lot of new warframe players are from destiny.
even a good handful of veterans i talked to are from destiny as well, joined around Curse of Osiris or content Vault era
The new update went crazy so much employee sunsetting this year.
Bungie doesn’t need a win but a holy miracle for the final sale I mean shape. Player sentiment towards the final shape was low before this news broke out but now it’s probably gonna be record low, I was around for Osiris/warmind and while it was gloomy then I don’t recall if it was this gloomy
One of many Bungie's problems is they've never been consistent with the Destiny franchise. It's always been two steps forward, four step back. Bad expansion, mid expansion, than great expansion...than all the way back to square one all over again. Even if The Final Shape turns out to be good, there gonna go back to there bad habits once again.
We need destiny 3 on an upgraded engine or new engine with new movement, gunplay, enemies, worlds, everything. D2 is literally a 2017 ps4 game. Nobody cares about it, it’s outdated in so many ways. It’s time to move on. What’s the point of the ps5????
@@randomuser40454 That's not going to fix anything.
@@lordpumpkinhead265 How??? Destiny sold millions when it came out lol. Imagine a brand new looking looter shooter from bungie? You want them to keep making outdated content for a ps4 game huhhhh
@@randomuser40454 Sweeping D2 under the rug and starting fresh is going to be pouring gasoline on the dumpster fire that is already happening. That would actively make things worse.
@@lordpumpkinhead265 so, you suggest they keep burning money on a dying ps4/Xbox one game over and over again. Literally the definition of insanity. We need a brand new next gen game with new animations, physics, enemies, loot, weapons, world, everything. What’s the point of the ps5????
i always said that when he described the Over Delivery and Under Delivery conference was when the mask came off and we finally saw what the company really wanted and how they felt about the players and employees to an extent where he said that they had talented devs and they explicitly would tell them not to put their ideas in the game cause it creates expectations
I’ve been falling out of Destiny for several years now. It really started with Beyond Light, Witch Queen was good, but lacked something for me, and Lightfall was fun but lacked any substance at all.
I still look back fondly on Destiny, on all the memories I’ve made and people I have met. I intend to see this journey to the end, but I’ve often thought that Final Shape will be my last ride with Destiny. Now, I’m more certain than ever. I hope the expansion is good, I hope it is the climactic end to this story we have all been apart of since 2014, but I’d be lying if I said that I had no doubts. Truthfully, I’d been questioning if Bungie could pull off this grand conclusion before the layoffs. Now, I question if they can deliver anything at all.
Eyes up, Guardians.
Witch Queen was too short with barely any pvp maps or gambit. And I think only had one strike.
@@phantombigboss8429 2. The first dlc to only have one strike was Lightfall I guess Beyond did as well but it released another and while it was in a season it wasn't a season exclusive.
I have a feeling the Final Shape is going to be 2x better than Forsaken was, hitting a lot of nostalgia for people, bringing back those good memories etc.. I just hope they can put a good end to it all.
We need something completely new but still is destiny...it needs to be the best ever!
It turns out the real bad guy was the fans who defended bungie the whole time.
That’s right.
Kellygreen on the forums must be having an stroke lol
I have followed you for years and watched nearly all your videos and I agree with you 100% I'm glad someone finally said it

Y'all are setting yourselves up for disappointment. Nothing is going to live up to Forsaken or be Forsaken 2. Yall said this about Witch Queen, it wasnt Forsaken 2 and ut still did well
This isn't setting up for disappointment, this is what's needed to keep the game from collapsing. If Bungie doesn't knock Final Shape out of the park and into someone's window a mile away, they're going to fail.
@@lordpumpkinhead265They could make the best piece of Content in their entire 30 years worth of history and theyre still likely to loose a whole lot of tired players. Theres no way these episodes are gonna suddenly fix it all
@@elseggs6504 The Expansion itself has to be absolutely stellar along with fantastic episodes to salvage D2. You're looking at just the Episodes.
@@lordpumpkinhead265 Cool, and the expansion will by all likelihood be maybe ok-good. No fucking way theyre gonna pull a Forsaken. Bungies biggest flex so far were no new game mechanics, subclasses whatever, just 3 supers and nostalgiabait.
Episodes are gonna matter cause people will leave after Final Shape. Burnout is real
Something about all of the final shape trailers that really rubbed me the wrong way is this is the send-off to the light and dark saga and you're giving us only three new supers. Like go nuts man. Give everyone a new super really make this feel like it's the final push to the witness

Yep
3 maps
New subclass
2 raids
1 final 12 person activity to kill the witness with 6 subclasses

Marathon is Bungie's equivalent to Creative Assembly's Hyena's. Marathon will see the light of day and fail miserably. Marathon and neglect of Destiny 2 is a fail - fail for Bungie.
I’ve started emotionally withdraw myself from destiny but I hate that, I hate having to remove my feelings from a game I’ve stuck with for 7 years straight but it do be like that some times.
The best thing to happen is sony completely buying bungie and then passing all the development rights to Insomniac
Keep Bungie the hell away from Insomniac lol. Don't need them infecting them with the corruption
@@oxsila I meant to say Sony passing 100% of the game development to insomniac and Bungie working on other projects. The same way as valve did with TurtleRock studios back in 2008
I just hope they can fix this some how. Idc how most feel but me personally I enjoy this game and the franchise with its ups and downs.
Add boarder lands 2 to that destiny killer list
They may have more time now but they flat-out do not have the manpower or resources to make FS be Forsaken 2. I believe FS will be pretty good, but just that. It’d be a miracle if it was incredible to the point that the game has a bright future beyond that. And I’m basically dipping after that point anyway.
Great vid !
One more - Bungie involuntarily killed Destiny when they wanted players to play the game the way they wanted, not the way players wanted
I would say there is both something true but at the same time wrong in that statement
Seems any game i put over 2000 hours in, end up terrible shells at the end
the 3.6 billion went to shareholders
This is the best video i have ever seen ever it is amazing and superb i love this video superb 10/10 will watch again
That "overdelivery" statement is what pushed mento uninstall the game. Ive been tempted to come back. With the addition of black shaders, and spider costumes but thats the trick. Fomo. If Destiny can kill the fomo and the nickel and diming, and just make a permannent and ejoyable experience, they'll be fine.
We need a foresaken age of triumph hybrid
this video is excelence
The backs against the wall.... But not enough soul to break forward
I’d honestly say Bungie lost all support once people found out they fired the guy who composed all the halo music even in the og days and the person who came up with logo for halo, I’m sure a lot of people at Bungie are afraid because seeing people who almost built the foundation of Bungie get sent home is for sure disheartening
I wasn’t there but can someone tell what it was like when Forsaken came out?
I know it’s not just him that was safe from the layoffs, but it is SOOO much of a kick in the face, not just to us players, but especially the employees that Justin Truman still has a job - literally the guy whose VISION cause all this shit… I know he’s not the only one that makes decisions, but it was HIS set of ideals that brought this upon them, yet he skates away with no repercussions… what a joke…
I’m just saying Darkside Royalty aka Joker was telling all of us this bad news before it happened. He was making videos of how bungie was just remaking the same thing and that the game was getting stale, while all of us were just getting excited with every new trailer bungie drop.
I hope D2 does something to get me playing again. I stopped 6 months ago and hope something kick starts my interest again.
This is gonna be good-
I knew this game was going to go down the shit hole ever since they started vaulting DLC 🤷 😅
I quit the game a month after Beyond Light released. I’m happy to say I’ll be 3 years sober soon.
To me the real test is what are they gonna do in the time between for next season. I want huge QoL changes and catalysts for weapons that dont have them/tweaks for existing ones, useless exotic armor changes, hell maybe even some old reprised content too. Them having to nail Final Shape is without question
The fact that any human still has hope for Destiny frankly appalls me
I'd argue at this point it will need to be better than forsaken.. like taken king and forsaken..
There’s no fucking way we want this company to be rewarded after what they just did to senior staff. If you think the remaining team will do well full knowing the upper suite of suits not allowing them to do their best is just passed naivety. It’s stockholm syndrome. I genuinely hoped the sony infuse would help the devs but after this, it’s near impossible for me to really support them in any capacity
damn my boy turned into yongyea
The final joever
After watching the whole video, even if a forsaken level dlc came out would it even make up for everything?
I love the game I’ve made amazing moments and life long friends. I hope things can get back on track!
Sony regretting their purchase right about now.
"It's not just needed... it has to happen"
What
This is a make or break moment will they finally listen to devs and players saying that the game needs to be fun for us or will they try to chase the trend of the month and listen to what they think and fail to deliver causing marathon to fail along with it
I'm betting on the latter tbh
They got rid of everyone that would have made Forsaken 2 possible...
*Lol…*
*So This* must have been what it felt like for my fiance when she left me *last year.* This
disappointment and guilt for those thousands of hours I’ll never get back.
Most of my 20s spent on something I have nothing to show for in the end, besides memories of years in silent denial; trying to make the best of a FUBAR situation. Being unhappy here for so long that I can’t remember what it was like to have fun in game like I know I used to… didn’t I..? I just can’t remember...
The shame for sticking around for so long despite everyone telling me how stupid I am for holding out, waiting for that day I could say “I knew I was right. They were worth it”
And then realizing that day won’t come because there’s nothing left inside me for this game anymore…
Bungies words have and always will hold water like a pasta strainer
F*** Bungie management, F*** Sony Entertainment, F*** corporate shareholder culture
And f*** you, janett.
☹️
No way in hell final shape is gonna be forsaken size or scope
they pretty much went from "underdelivery is bad" to "overdelivery is bad", and by weird coincidence it happened roughly at the same time as they had split from activision (i know, crazy), and for some reason ever since the split from activision (shadowkeep onward) most things that they did/made were trash. What a crazy coincidence.
I quit 2 years ago, and honestly it kinda sucks knowing FS isn't enough to bring me back. At this point it would take a reset with an amazing D3 to make me consider giving them more money.
Watching this in the future
Currently less than a month away from final shape.
Anyone’s thoughts changed about Bungie? The trailers and stuff seemed to be received well
forsaken 2 is happening right now, to the game and its fans
It’s been a hell of a ride. Good night destiny my beloved.
Its been almost half a decade since they split with activision how were people still blaming them?
The Final Underdelivery
It just wont ever happen, I use to say this to a friend but them openly saying they wont ever go as big as Forsaken again was a big red flag. The yearly dlc's should be huge but instead they just rely on time gating to make them seem bigger. Bungie have gotten far too comfortable with the seasonal model doing the leg work and it shows given how lack lustre the game feels now. TFS has to be absolutely monumental for them for the game to get back on track because saying its on life support is an understatement.
What is the song that starts at 8:20 ?
Cayde is honestly one of my favourite characters in Destiny and I joined Destiny 2 after he died. I was so upset and pissed that he was killed off, and I still am, but now I’m even more pisses and upset that he’s being brought back
key difference is they no longer have activisions extra studios and resources to help as thats why forsaken was so fleshed out. its an impossible ask in there current condition
anyone else notice the aesthetic decline after forsaken?
When's the vid on the world's first solo flawless vog by snazzyrock?
I would be open for Forsaken 2
I willingly spent more money on this game before Shadowkeep than I did after. Just didn't find the need to when I realized I have to pay for everything I wanted.
Does anyone know what happened to the seasonal flashbacks?
One of my professors (who also plays Destiny 2) put it best: "I want companies to make profit, but I don't want their primary focus to be about profit."
The problem comes when said compannies have to answare to shareholders who then put the people they want on management and u get the current gaming era.
Larian with baldurs gate 3 didn't have to deal with shareholders guess hiw it went for them
Its no longer in the devs power to fix it. Its up to the executives who are the asshats. They have to listen and put money where their game is.
Also they spent 1.2 billion (aka all the employee retention funds) on stuff other than retention
The final shape is....... Bankruptcy
...
I doubt it
A gaurdians biggest enemy is the higher ups
I have literal years logged into Destiny 1 and 2. I have hundreds of raid sherpas where I've taken people through their first raids. I took someone through their first raid with a team of 3 and got that man a 3 man badge. I'm one of like 10-15 people with a 2 man EoW prestige clear (rr Gummibri) but the game became incredibly cumbersome with Shadowkeep. They sunset everything that I grinded hundreds of hours for for. They gutted hundreds of dollars of content that I paid for. They scrapped the whole free to play model so I couldn't even pull friends into the game. They basically took all of the fun out of it and removed every reason to play because your playtime is going to be reversed by sunsetting, cut content, etc. It's just not worth it for most people and it's not even worth it for vets anymore.
Why is this poetic justice at the beginning they had to totally change to make forsaken and the go fast update and now at the end they must do it again
Delaying Final Shape this late is our best chance at getting an amazing expansion. Based on how close we are to the original release date, the first episode is likely in the very late stages of development. Bungie can work pretty much entirely on the expansion until it is released. We have already gotten a decent amount of gameplay, so it’s fair to assume that map designers can lend a lot of help to the strike team in creating the free pvp map pack. Depending on how far the strike team has gotten, I wouldn’t be too surprised if Bungie releases it as the bridge between the extended season and Final Shape similarly to 30th anniversary. I am hoping that after/throughout the Episodes, Bungie starts slowly unvaulting content. The gunplay in Destiny 2 is more than good enough to make me want to still play it years from now. If you combined that with a somewhat steady release of playlist content, Destiny 2 would still hold a lot of players. I’d be more than satisfied with a strike and a pvp map once or twice a year even if I had to pay for it. Look at how many people have stuck around just for pvp regardless of the state it is it. Destiny 2 is a game that can easily live on without seasonal content or even expansion content. They could legit just drop map packs like the old Call of Duty model and most of the community would eat it up. The game feels great, it’s just the every day activities that have felt neglected for 4 years which really makes the game feel stale. Bungie has to understand that Destiny will always be the type of game that you *have* to cater to the core fanbase. Vanilla D2 tried to cater to everyone, it nearly killed the game/franchise. Forsaken catered to the fanbase, it single handedly saved the game/franchise. Let Destiny 2 become a full game and take time developing Destiny 3. Unless 80% of Destiny 2 is deleted, the new saga cannot continue through this game. Everything needs to be new if it is going to feel like a new saga. Especially as last gen consoles will continue to limit innovation and creativity.
