I figured this out a long time ago. If you think about it, when you shoot, everything is on a 1,2 count. For instance from the moment you start to squat down to the moment you jump up, it is two motions and the moment you raise the ball from your shot pocket to your set point then finally your follow through is also two motions. So it only makes sense to link up your body along with your arms to create the perfect timing. Raising your arms at the same time you jump is going to create either a rushed shot or a late release resulting in either a overpowered shot causing a break or an underpowered shot which ultimately will lead to an airball.
I think this is the reason why my shots are always short. Im always doing my hips and legs first, then set up. Thereby loosing all the power while the ball is still way going up.
Bad advice lol. That ruins the momentum of your jump shot. Funny part is he shows a clip of klay Thompson doing the exact opposite (which you should do) is moving the ball and your loaded hip’s together. Just watch dame, steph, luka, literally any good shooter at half speed. Increases your range too.
Klay doesn't do the opposite. The video pauses and the bubbles show the ball at the set point and Klays hips loaded at the same time. If you can't see that, watch the video in slow mo
@ it doesn’t. I play basketball in real life. I also know a thing or two about physics and momentum and shooting the ball this way described in the video makes you a significantly worse shooter. You’re seeing what he wants you to see. Klay is doing the exact opposite of what
@@taylonjenkins8851 I'm not going to convince you of what's in the video and you not gonna convince me of your viewpoint so let's just agree to disagree
Im glad someone said it, iv changed my shot countless times and tried alot of things, this way works well, but it limits what kind of shots you can hit consistently specifically pull ups and of the dribbles, at the time i was looking at film of great shooters and seeing this same thing hips loaded ball at set point, but while it looks like that in the instant everyone is actually rising with their shot with locked or almost locked out hips with the ball still at set point before the release
I think this would be more specifically long shots. For midrange shots majority of the time it’s a pull up, so you could jump a little bit earlier, because on a pull up you’re mainly either going to shoot at the peak of your jump or be shooting on the way down.

Your channel is the reason why I play basketball so thanks for these helpful tips🙏
Bro! 🤯 just realise that I’m not consistent on doing this! Thank you - great point!
This brother makes a good point!
Thanks bro for the advice!!
Great tip 🔥
This is an amazingly important small detail. Great job pointing it out. Keep up the great work! 👏💪✊
Thanks! Great point!
This is my problem when I play inconsistently. I develop a bit of a hitch then speedily send out the shot
Nice. Good coaching.
thanks men
Dope, thanks!
Is this for mid range or do the ball and hips move together in the mid range
?
Thanks very much
Great points.
Am I the only one who noticed that he looks like Chadwick(black panther) a little?
He definitely favors him. Not just you
Amazing tip! Thanks a lot 👍👍👍👍
Maaaan this is fire ass advice
Thanks for the tip
D’Lo be hitting those standstill 3’s is mind blowing 🤯
Thats good sir
Great information. This was my issue in my younger years. I recorded myself and compared it to other shooters. I fixed my shot on my own years later.
I think this is the reason why my shots are always short. Im always doing my hips and legs first, then set up. Thereby loosing all the power while the ball is still way going up.
Cheers Wakanda Forever 🎉
thanks, I needed this!
I have always been moving the ball to set point and unloading legs as I move the ball.
Helped
Good assss advice thank you so much
Thx mate 👊😎🏀
This is what I am trying to do, I just understood after many years playing
Beautiful
Ty man i think i do the second thing il try to improve thanks to ur advice
Thanks a lot,mannn... Been working on this and couldn't really sure if to put the ball to the set point first or not. This really helps 🔥👍🏾
I love you maaaan I was just thinking how to fix that and this vid popped up
got any drills for this or should we just consciously do this until it becomes muscle memory?
Do you have a shooting program that emphasizes this? I don't remember Ryan talking much about it in his.
💯💯💯
subbed SOLEY cuz buddy a fellow southpaw
Nice 👍🏾
Awesome, now teach them a skill like defense
I’m 40 and started shooting again and couldn’t figure out why my rhythm was off. I randomly did this and started hitting everything lol.
You can do this by repitition. Your body will naturally flow
What base are you using for this jump shot? Is it on push or release?

@ lol that’s literally fine. I could care less either way. Shoot like a girl on a JV team if you want. I shoot 40% from 3 in my men’s league.

This is gold.
But how to actually aim? Ball going left or right alway
work on ur guide hand
This is GENIUS Iv been doing it wrong. Maybe that’s why my shot is broke
Anyone know what shoes he’s rockin?
Ohhhhh okay bro
What???? really? so have it loaded first before you go through the movement? i'll just keep doing what i'm doing since it's working for me.
Doesnt Curry unload his legs when he sets point?
he’s a one motion shooter, which means he does the two motions (go to set point, shoot) in, well, one motion
wait what? I thought you always shoot from the ground up?
Play lockdown protocol
❤
That ain’t a jump shot lol
I thought it is down with the ball and up with the ball. Is this true for long range shots and not just mid range ?

Thanks for this video. This explains the problem in my shot.
I have the same problem with my jump shot
