Unsettled , that is an understatement to say the least the first really quite major storm where damage to property and life has occurred.

This word "unsettled" has got to go! Maybe it is a valid scientific term, and maybe if we're having innocuous sunshine and showers periods it's acceptable. HOWEVER, after events like Storm Bert, it is clearly inappropriate use of language.
