Good updates. However neither myself, nor anyone I have asked knows what 'locally' means in terms of snow depth. To me, literally, it means that places local to me will have the deepest snow? Surely there must be a clearer and more obvious word, especially when it is used in red alert weather reports. Do any other viewers not understand what this means?
Can you really not work out what locally means in this context? They give an average depth of snow expected across a wide area, and warn that in any specific location within that area it could be deeper. So that extra depth might be local for you, or it might be local for someone else. But it will be local as opposed to widespread. And to find out your altitude, whether youre at 100 or 200m, open any mapping application such as Google Earth. In a short weather forecast they really do not have time to list thousands and thousands of locations individually by altitude.
Many Happy New Year 2022 to you all at the Met office. Thank you so much beautiful soul Aidan for A lovely focused into more details on Thursday. I hope we don't get bad weather in Ferndown, Dorset. We had been missed all the bad weather so far since 2021. I hope we not going to get it in 2022. Thank you so much beautiful soul for amazing sharing.. on UA-cam. Love and lights with greatitude and so it is. 👍💐🙏💫✨🇬🇧🕊️🌈🕊️🤗
Could I just say that we were on the border of the red and amber warning on the east coast and we only got 4 dissapionting cm of snow that night and we were expecting 15-20cm snow
Had to Walk a couple of miles to check on animals the ice was the worst I wrapped chicken wire round my boots and tied it with string ,the best ice grippers I’ve had ,later that summer was one of the best the sea was so warm and clear around the Isle of Wight where I live.
SSW took place 3 days ago, and based on the most recent European and GFS runs, it appears we will get some sort of severe easterly by the end of January. I think that’s why UA-cam has suddenly recommended this.
Why can't you mention the conversion Cm = Ft •Ins For the range of age groups tuned in. I'd appreciate and releaved to understand what we're about to defend against. Respectfully Chris.
Despite the metrication of our nation, the demographic profile is of a majority of elderly folk. Would the MET office consider giving inches and degrees Farenheit in their reports. Even if they "don't have to". Wind speeds in mph is handy too. Please
I’m 30 and since I can remember we’ve used degrees and inches etc. Just because they’re ‘old’ does not mean they can’t adapt especially when they’ve had decades to do so. I can understand both cm and inches, I really don’t see why they’d have a problem interpreting.
Wer sick of hearing about Scotland man it’s always them with the snow! U spend most ur time forecasting about them what about Northern Ireland, what about Birmingham? What about other places further south on the east coast that have been badly effected! It’s all about Scotland.
Far, far better than the BBC's latest forecasts and video presentation. Well done Met Office!!
more snow plzzz

Best winter ever. This is what winter supposed to be not a stupid rainy and wet day
Ehhhh.. I mean with the likes of BeastfromtheEast and this year storm *Arwen* I'd take rainy and mild tbh
Why am i seeing a weather report from 2 years ago in my reccomendations. WTG UA-cam

And the term above 100 m or 200 m how is someone spoused to know where that is exactly.

Sitting in 2020 30 degree heat
Yeah. This 2020 summers have been hot and exceeded 30 degree and the highest temperature in summer 2020 was 37.8 but where I lived it exceeded 30
Can you stop the snow please x
Much more exciting than the crap attempt of snow a month ago. Its over now though probably.
Could I just say that we were on the border of the red and amber warning on the east coast and we only got 4 dissapionting cm of snow that night and we were expecting 15-20cm snow
Oh I thought this was tonight 🤨 it’s years old, why would anyone want to watch the weather years ago!!
Snow in Devon 👍🏻👍🏻 yippee ❄️❄️❄️
The forecast is constantly changing.
Seeing reports that some models have that weather system more to the east
i remember the beast from the east event. it happened twice in a span of 3 weeks
We had a red warning for snow in Ireland 🇮🇪 over 24 hours of continued snow ❄️
Please no more snow in the midlands, there’s been too many accidents already
Ohhh so that’s why I was so excited as a 8 year old lol

What is the relevance of a weather item almost three years old?

The UK has been metric for almost 4 decades now and even my mother who is in her 80's has no problems with centigrade, metres or litres
