    This isn't a hard job and anyone with a few tools can do it in a few minutes. My friend was charged almost $200 the last time this happened. With the Amazon parts she got it done this time for less than $50.

    Thanks so very much. Lost my passenger mirror to a black trash can sticking out in the street on a dark rainy night. Watched your video & used your link to order the part. It was at my doorstep the next day. Install was a snap thanks to your guidance & I know next to NOTHING about auto repairs. Thanks for the AWESOME tutorial!!!

    Just what I needed. Thanks for being concise while still providing helpful warnings, specifically dropping the screws behind the door panel; a quick bit of cloth stuffed in there should prevent any mishaps.

      @@larisachesnut2175 Wow, ok. You could take the side mirror to HomeDepot, Ace, or other hardware store and ask them for help. There are no threads, so a heavy-threaded sheet metal screw that cuts its own threads would work.

    How do you get the white plastic to disconnect?

    • @DansWay
      @DansWay  4 роки тому

      Did you get it? There might be clips you have to release or pry against.

    • @MiracleMitch
      @MiracleMitch 2 роки тому

      Ideally you should release the outer painted cover from the inside of the mirror unit to avoid breaking the tabs, but this involves removing the glass, and sometimes the glass mounting plastics / mirror adjustment parts that may be clipped, screwed or bolted inside the body of the unit. The tabs on a majority of outer covers break if levered as the plastic becomes more brittle as it ages. Happens on most car brands.

      @@DansWay For the white clip, I used a tiny flat head screwdriver to pry up part the release so that eventually loosened and detached. Had to push pretty good to make the new one fit, good to test to make sure the mirror moves before putting everything back in.

    Just did this on a 2006 Mazda3. The screw heads were 8mm. Not sure if the ones for your newer Mazda3 are 8mm, but it seems unlikely that'd be 5/16 on a Japanese car.
