I am in manufacturing. I love that you are instituting LEAN into your culture so early. What we often forget about LEAN is that it is a ideology, not just a methodology. Practicing early develops a learning mindset. Great Job!
I co-oped at a large aerospace company in one of their commercial airline avionics manufacturing plants, and all of the stuff you are doing is stuff that I saw out in the plant. They were super LEAN focused, and it's awesome to see a small company implement all of this! Huge fan of yours!

Hi Luke. I LOVE this type of content!!!! I run a rapidly growing eBay store so I'm constantly working on process improvements as well. One thing that has made a massive difference in my business is video recording our processes. For instance, if we are packing a solid 20 items per hour then dip to 12, I can pull the tape and see where the bottleneck is. Sometimes it's an inefficient process but sometimes it's just a difficult item to pack. I discovered that just because something is monetarily profitable doesn't mean it's profitable over time invested. Great idea on the EDC belt pouch! We use 1980s fanny packs but I like how yours keeps everything separate. I typically spend a couple seconds fumbling for what I need. Looks like we will be changing, thanks for that! You mentioned Toyota and it made me smile haha. I graduated from Toyota TTEN which is their auto technician college program. That's where I got most of my attention to detail. The number one thing we were taught was "The 5 Whys." I'm sure it's mentioned in that book you read but it's such a great principle to apply for any aspect of your life. Anyways, thanks for this video and love seeing you grow each and every year, ~Ryan

I am working as a software developer for almost 15 years now and I made some pretty amazing experiences with agile software development, when it is done right, which includes lean software development. It has the same basic principles as lean manufacturing, so I feel I can appreciate what you are showing here and it shows to me again, that small and simple things can really make a difference in a working environment. I think it is really great and very important that you, as an employer, see the value of lean manufacturing. The most important thing for me in agile methodologies is that it cuts down the time I spend on routine business, so I can focus on building a great product for the customer, instead of being annoyed and distracted by many little things that really should not take my time. BTW, I came to Nerf via my previous job as a software developer for Germany's largest toy ecommerce company. - There were some epic Nerf battles in that office. ;)

Luke sporting his tactical wearhouse gear ^^. Another way to mount the bubble wrap roll is on a bar that can move down with gravity between two poles... Then have the bubble wrap flat on the table ‘being dispensed’ towards you... You pull whatever you need and have the product wrapped at the same time without having to work ‘above your strength’. Having wrapped many products myself in the past I know this to be a very good solution. If you want to ‘up the anty’ and make it easier to pull off the amount you need you can make the bar the roll sits on ‘stop being able to roll’ with a foot pedal break. This way you don’t need your offhand to hold the roll and you can pull the sheet of one handed without having to put down the product you aim to wrap. If the table isn’t deep enough you can hang it above the table at a 45 degree angle where the bar still gravity feeds down as the roll gets smaller in diameter. Thus ensurring the wrap is always level with the back wall... then have a secondary roll at the table level feeding the material toward you. In this case the second roll can be pressed down towards the table (with before mentioned pedal) to lock the feed and allow you to pull off a sheet. Lol... sorry for the not so lean explenation ^^
I love your ideas and that you’re sharing. A lot of issues are similar across shops. For example, I came across similar issues with spring cutting, cards, bubble wrap, print beds and carrying common tools. Funny thing is we came up with similar solutions. I was also intrigued to find we use similar tools such as those needle nose, bolt cutters, and even bins. I had someone also suggest that color coding system and weighing system as well! I’d love to see what other ideas we could come up with for our shops. I’ve also noticed Drac using similar methods in his shop. Common problems can create unique solutions!
I follow your channel mainly from an interest in manufacturing since I saw your spot on the Prusa video (...nerf is too soft ;)) I really like these kinds of videos and how you share your experience from the trenches. It is very cool to see how you continuously work on shortening the feedback loop (love the weight smoke test for the part bags) on the production line, and also show the stuff that is not "perfect" and why it is so. In some sense I can almost hear Goldratt's "The Goal" in the background :D

An idea to improve your efficiency is to set a conveyor adding stations from right and left for each flow process in sequence such as pick, clean, pack and so on.
I think maybe having 3D printed barrel spacers for the nexus pro to swap it over to a brass barrel and then one of the spacers would have an o ring for proper fitment. There is a rear one and a front one. Having them 3D printed would make sure the seal is good and the alignment is also good. I used to use a 17/32 brass barrel I got from your shop with a 175 FPS cap to get a projected 200 FPS. The darts overtime would crush down a bit making the fit looser but it was still a ripper way better than the stock barrel. I stopped because there was reliability issues with the seal with the barrel and the gun as well as the barrel coming out because I used tape to make the fit tight on both ends making the seal not very air tight and prone to coming out. I was also worried about the alignment of the barrel for accuracy. I shoot about 40-60 feet and consistently hit a 2-3 inch diameter circle (the bottom of small can). I used a red dot from a crossbow though because the iron sights are not the best. Maybe you could also 3D print a more accurate iron sight that would be better for lining up small targets from far. The x axis is super accurate and straight but to be expected at different distances, the y axis will change, but not by much with the pro darts. That gun is so good and has so much potential. I am getting my friend that has loads of real guns to buy one because of the performance, accuracy, customizability (with picitinny rails, stocks, grips), and the price of the ammo and the gun is just insane. I am so excited to see what you do with the gun.

That foot petal looks to be damaged. Is it homemade? If so, make sure it's rated for the type of load you're putting on it as well. It can be both a serious shock hazard, as well as a fire hazard.

Is the Kershaw Leek standard issue equipment for your employees? Much better than the crappy box cutter most warehouse employees are forced to use.
That’s my personal knife; I abuse it by cutting boxes, but do have box cutting tools as well.

That foot petal looks to be damaged. Is it homemade? If so, make sure it's rated for the type of load you're putting on it as well. It can be both a serious shock hazard, as well as a fire hazard.
Rated for 15A, which is well below the heatgun itself.
