    I was waiting for your video to help me decide whether or not to spend my ARCs on the Python mkII. I've been saving them up for a while now and you've convinced me that it's worth the purchase. I already have one of your Krait mkII builds plus a Cutter support/missile boat. I thank you for all the hard work all of you put into this. Your dedication to the AX community makes it much easier for CMDR's such as myself to jump into this part of E.D.

      Are you happy with it? I hate that in the end I was convinced aswell... What a terrible experience this ship has been so far. The Krait Mk2 is so much better for this.....

      @@ShinigamiGrin I built my Python mk2 exactly as it is in his build guide and felt like I had been let down but after taking it to Hadad and doing solo Titan bombing runs I can now say that it's a fantastic ship for that purpose. I made over 160 million in one day just doing torpedo and missile attacks on the titan in solo mode. I'm not sure how it will work for other scenarios but it is definitely a great titan killer.

    This video is sooooooo informative! These concepts apply to all AX ships, not just the Python MkII. I'm going to build a new ship centered around these concepts. Stellar video!!!

      As for the shields, alternating bomber duties with other CMDRs allows for shield rebuilding in between runs also so it is very feasible and very sustainable for long periods of time until ammo runs low

    This video couldn't have come at a better time. I've already built my Python MK2 for PvP/PvE and I was hesitant about building one for AX Combat as it's not yet possible to simulate on EDSY or Coriolis, and I didn't feel like spending materials experimenting with different engineering.
    As always, very informative, well-founded content, supported by facts and experimentation, which not only points us in the right direction, but also explains the reasons behind the choices, which I greatly appreciate.
    Thank you very much for all your work and for sharing.
    See you soon cmdr, o7!
    PS: I forgot to thank the work of all the cmdrs who collaborated with you on this project, their work is greatly appreciated and valued.

    Do you even need the Enhanced variant of the Xeno Scanner if you intend to bomb the Titan? Wouldn't it make sense to equip the legacy Xeno Scanner and save 0.4 MW ?

    • @Astyrrean
      @Astyrrean  7 місяців тому +2

      The fighter definitely needs the enhanced version to scan interceptors for hearts destruction. It is practically impossible to do so with the meager 500m range of the regular one. The bombers don’t need a scanner.

    Now I want to turn to FDev: You, guys, made the new Python too powerful. The next version of the ship MKIII should have six large hardpoints, eight utilities and a power plant 4 with a fourth-size distributor. No, not even the fourth, but the second! And we don't need additional compartments. Make our life unbearable!
    It's a joke, of course, but it's still sad to see how you approach ship designs.
    A big thanks you to CMDR Mechan and team for the development and great work. They did the impossible.
    But I don't see a big need to ditch my Krait MK2 just yet.

    Hi is Conc Seq shield regen rate effecteed by the size of the laser? Would a large or medium beam regen shields faster than a small turreted pulse?

    • @Astyrrean
      @Astyrrean  7 місяців тому +2

      ConcSeq is not. It is an on/off effect. Hence the turreted pulse. RegenSeq, on the other hand, IS. But RegenSec is a MUCH weaker effect overall.

    QQ: Any particular reason going with gimballed instead of fixed for the Thermal Vent? If I'm not mistaken, a fixed consumes less power, and produces less thermal and higher DPS which I assume increases the vent.

    • @Astyrrean
      @Astyrrean  7 місяців тому +2

      Thermal vent works by inverting the thermal load of the weapon it is applied to. So the higher the better - hence gimbals. Besides that, it’s practically impossible to keep a fixed beam on target while orbiting and firing gimballed weapons (the aim point is too far distant.) Go Gimballed with gimballed weapons, fixed with fixed weapons.

    I dont have the max G5 unlock for my power plants yet or my thrusters, so I can only get my power plant to LE G4 and my clean drives to G3. Is this still good enough to meet the sub 20 heat req? What would be the barebones engineering needed to get this thing titanspace ready?

    • @Astyrrean
      @Astyrrean  7 місяців тому +1

      Probably not is the sad answer. The Krait is a lot more forgiving (as it is a hull tank) of lower engineering grades. With that engineering, I’d drop the shield go with repair limpet and cargo. Not ideal, but best you can swing I think.

  • @supersoapdropper1826

    Despite the disappointing lack of optional slots, I thought the P2 would have at least some sort of ability against thargoids, with it's decent boost speed and generous hard points

    • @Astyrrean
      @Astyrrean  7 місяців тому +1

      It does fine in solo interceptor fights and AXCXs… but by fine I mean “FDL-level-fine.” For solo combat and AXCZs, the Krait, Chief, and Chally remain far better options.

  • @andywelch4251
    @andywelch4251 6 місяців тому +1

    Hi, I want to understand better the theory how you're getting the heat performance your getting. I was messing around trying to produce the same result using a regular Python, Im finding the heat % increase from shields charging takes it way over 20% so is there something in your downgrade to D rating shield and E rating the boosters that's for heat performance rather than energy efficiency? Is there a table showing how much extra heat different types of shields produce while charging?

    • @Astyrrean
      @Astyrrean  6 місяців тому +1

      There is very little “scientific” data about how shield charge converts into heat. What I can tell you is that the higher the shield distro draw, the higher the heat generation - biweaves run MUCH hotter than regular and prismo shields, and furthermore heat generation when charging broken shield is much higher than when charging unbroken ones (as the distro draw is relatably higher.) With that in mind, all A-E shields, and prismos as well (which have the same draw) will generate the same “charging heat” given the same engineering. The reason D ones were chosen here is power draw more than anything though. D-rated shields are the best we could fit without sacrificing the Low Emissions plant - which is key for it to all work. As for the 0E shield boosters, those are simply your best bang-for-buck of converting power grid capacity into shield boost amount. Their absolute boost is lower than higher-rated ones, but their proportional boost (to power grid used) is enormously higher. Keep in mind a key equation we’re solving for here is - how do we fit this all into a meager Class 6 LE5/Monstered power plant! The regular Python has a major advantage in that regard - it has an oversized Class 7 powerplant, that you can run as LE5/ThermalSpread even.

    • @Astyrrean
      @Astyrrean  7 місяців тому +2

      Not really … as Hydra is a Gauss or ModShards affair, and the PMk2 is not an ideal platform for either. It would effectively run like an FDL, more or less. I would probably run it 3m gauss + beam + flak or 4 ModShards + beam vs Hydra.

    The only way i can get the mk2 build to run under power is disable the frame shift drive, cargo hatch, and nanite torp launcher getting thru the caustic cloud then disable the thargoid pulse nuetralizer, the caustic sink launcher, and re-enable the nanite torpedos near the titan. This is very strange as the build worked perfectly on Hadad. Oh, it works perfectly with regular AX missile racks. I have to do the above with the pre-engineered mag cap/rapid fire AX racks.

    • @Astyrrean
      @Astyrrean  6 місяців тому

      Then you made some mistake with the build or with power priorities. Note your AFMU, hatch, and FSD are designed to automatically turn off/on when you deploy/retract hardpoints. Everything else stays on.

      @@Astyrrean Then I apologize I didn't quite understand the assembly. No hull repair i.e. you need to prevent shield destruction, i.e. its fast recovery in a cycle.
