GG CMDR! I have to say that I'm really impressed by the performance. I do share some views in the Python MK II being underwhelming in solo AX fights. It sort of seems to work in AXCZs, but in a hydra fight, wearing 4 medium gauss cannons and double sinking doesn't seem to do the trick in cooling the ship effectively (at one point I even x3 sinked and it still wasn't enough LMAO). It's a bit disappointing since the ship looks cool and I expected it to have no problem for a class 6 Power Plant and Distro. Still, the build you had in the video seems quite good and you've given me enough motivation to try a hydra fight again! o7
If you're fighting solo with gauss, 2m2s is definitely the way to go. Just barely over-drawn, and better convergence with the microgimbals of the small gauss. Anything more and you're just murdering your distro ...
QUESTION: Is it possible to take down a Hydra with Mod-Shards? My aim with Gauss is terrible. I'm sure with lots and lots of additional practice, I will eventually become more proficient with Gauss Cannons. However, for now and while I am still learning, I have way more success and fun using the Mode-Shards. Cyclops and Basilisk are no match for me now, and make for easy targets with the Mod-Shards. Taking down the Medusa is more work, but doable with Mod-Shards. The Hydra however has proven impossible for me. I blat away and blast away on the Hydra with seemingly no effect at all, which leaves me wondering if it's my skill level that's the issue, or the weapon choice... 🤔
ModShards are excellent weapons, possibly the best in the game for 1vs1 combat and for AXCZs. You can absolutely take down a Hydra with them. A Hydra is no joke though… it’ll test your skills, extensively.
It's all relative really. I know I can do it (I've now done it with three different ships) ... so I can test ships where it's not my skill/experience holding me back in a particular task, but rather the ship itself. I also have things I am working on and which are hard for me to do though! Learning is a journey which never ends.
Congrats on the fight. As great as the ship is for certain things, AX combat isn't it's strength. Will you try doing something like this or just a normal hydra fight with the type 8? I guess we don't know much about the hard-points yet, but it's a new ship, so it has to be put through the rounds right?
Nice work as always Mechan. Between the bad internals and the PP/PD being under classed, the pm2 is fairly disappointing. Even in human PvE and doing Spires, the PD is burdensome in almost every config, so I can't figure why they increased hardpoints but nerfed PD. No idea the design philosophy given the already skimpy internals! Hoping Fdev bumps the PD to 7 at least or I think the ship will collect dust after titans are dealt with
Im sure it taking 3 days as a Vet AX pilot was frustrating but as the uninitiated basilisk solo brawler that sounds pretty quick turnaround and like its a good ship that you're trying to pick apart. Either eay Im with you, wish it had a C7 distro or at least 1x class 5 optional. Dont get me wrong, Ive killed many Hydas and Medusas but it was with at least 1 other cmdr but I think you're comparing the ship to something you wish it was not what it is.
First of all, appreciate your comment! I do try to objectively assess ships based on what they work well for vs not. As I mentioned, they PMk2 makes for a fantastic vent+core bomber, surpassing and merging the best of the KMk2 and the Mamba at that. For solo AX combat, now having flown with it for a while, it just isn’t that good. I’m not trying to pick it apart. If I felt it was great or reasonably good, I would definitely say so.
Thank you, awesome video btw. I do appreciate seeing different views on the ship, I'm still trying to figure out what role I plan to use it for other than maybe casual PVP and having a hard time personally
Congrats, sir. I knew it was only a matter of time till you got it.
Well done!
congrats on your flawless angry spaceflower takedown, CMDR Mechan! o7
Congratulations!!! 🎊 👏
Gratz!

@@Astyrreanok, good to know. I will keep at it. Thanks!
Wow! You made it look easy!
That's crazy. I celebrate when i take down Cyclops with under 10% damage and you consider killing Hydra without a hit a "basic test"?? 🤯🥵

Will gladly give it a spin when it's out!
Great work as per usual! :D
Here goes attempt nº 2: What's the story behind the ''Humility'' ship epithet?
All my “uniformed” XSF ship builds are named after a human virtue. Humility just so happened to be the next one in line when I made the PMk2.

Great work. It's a shame there isn't something that could record and display key presses in these vids to tutor people learning orbiting.
Oh, there is. Several cold orbiting videos have input overlays set up. I personally have never bothered configuring it though.
@@Astyrrean Fair enough, it's not a tutorial
in that sense. I'll have a look. Thanks :)
