I'm glad it's not a Python clone to be fair, a beast of a ship in it's own right. A great first offering, however I'm looking forward to the next in line Type 8.
I'm hoping the Type-8 maxes out a medium pad to give the Python MK1 some competition in the medium trade area. That way we get the T6 as an entry medium trader, the T7 as an entry large trader, a T8 as the medium trade powerhouse and the T9 as the large trade powerhouse. Then they'll go and release the Panther Clipper LX that'll just dominate large pad trading 😁
I reckon about 300T - if it's higher than the Type-7 and on a medium pad, it'll make the Type-7 absolutely pointless, as it'll be able to carry more cargo and land at outposts and smaller ground facilities. I'll give FDev something - they've managed to make the T8 look bloody good in the previews - even if it doesn't quite fit in with the rest of the Lakon Transporter range (although it DOES still have the massive glass bulleye at the front)
I find it funny how limited we have become in this game. It just has to be another ship and we are happy... I'd rather see new roles to be honest, new gameplay. Revamp smuggling, rework combat zones, introduce proper salvaging, then provide ships with those roles in mind. The type-8 would be a great salvaging ship. Improve the ship wrecks, to provide gameplay for salvaging, with different methods doing it from the ship and also allowing to leave it and go for a manual job with dedicated tools. Who need another transport?! We have plenty, it would be just a different shape and skin. But again, as long as we get something we are content, we have come this far, asking anything in this game "would bee too complicated for those poor guys to implement" so let be happy with wathever bone they throw at us.

I've been having a great time with the Mk II, flying it exclusively until it came time to beat up on Hadad. But while its obvious lineage invites comparison with the Mk I, the use cases for the two ships are sufficiently different that I don't see the point. The Python is a multirole ship. The Mk II is not. I love them both and have plenty of use for both.
Agreed there are plenty of use cases for both ships - and the MK1 isn't made obsolete by the MK2 - but I do wonder if it would be better as a standalone, entirely new model of ship - a "Copperhead" as it were (assuming we'd still be running snake names) - that way the inevitable comparisons wouldn't need to be drawn in the first place 🙂
@@gamingsnipsandbits Funny how the YTer never says this in his video all the while trying to directl;y compare the 2 ships but bothers to come down here way into the comments and agree that the 2 ships are not comparable. It's a thought - but the crux of it is, the ship IS called the Python MK2 - so those comparisons are inevitable. Should it be called something else? Maybe, but then it would probably also need a redesign to remove the visual similarities - at which point, it might as well be an entirely new ship.
Great video. One thing I don't get is why in all the reviews everybody focuses so much on the prices of stuff, given how easy it is to make money in the game.... Was it not as easy as it is today years ago?
Credits are easy, but for me at least, it's a simple way of benchmarking a ship's worth compared to its rivals - so for example, going off Coriolis, the Mamba is valued at 56mil, compared to the 51mil of the FDL - both are designed for combat, but is the Mamba worth the extra 5 mil? Not really given it's handling, and other shortcomings (despite the increased DPS) so IMO it's on the more expensive end of reasonable. If that makes any sense 😆
It used to be a bit of a pain to make money yeah (even having a billion credits was a lot in like 2015 or so) but currently it's almost trivial. For most players ship and module cost, and rebuy cost, are pretty irrelevant.
For the life of me, I don't understand how these developers overlook immersion when it comes to these spaceships. If a ship has a co-pilot seat or other stations, simply put NPCs in them to give the feel of having crew. They can have simple animations at whatever station they are at and they don't have to do anything else.
Having a lifeless elite dangerous npc next to me with strange facial expressions would greatly lessen immersion for me and for most I imagine. The apex shuttles arent exactly an immersive experience
@@tflp1950 - Um, they don't have to have strange facial expressions, bro. They are NPC models in the co-pilot seat with piloting animations and voice dialogue during combat and handling functions on the ship.
@@tflp1950 - The NPCs would be specifically for the ship. Ships with multiple seats should have NPC co-pilots for immersion if you hired crew for solo play.
After naming the MK1 after LeChuck, it felt fitting. Just need more ships to name them after the rest of the characters - like "Murray's Talking Skull" or "Elaine's Island Booty" 😁
This new one is just ugly. Not sleek, not utilitarian, not militaristic. It's somewhere in the bland middle, an uninspired, boring design. They probably asked an intern to do it, a quickie between other tasks.
The original plan was to wait until August and see what it's like then - but since hitting 1000 subs, UA-cam tells me that I've done enough for the £9 for the Arx - so figured I'd put it back into the channel 🙂
They care now because FDEV f’ed up. The lack of care, we as a community for Elite Dangerous have witnessed, also happened in all of their games across the board. FDEV lost, I think, $750 mil in stock valuation slowly after the release of Odyssey but they messed all of their games up. Due to the massive failure they have decided to work on and support their core games in which Elite is one of those core games. They cannot continue to do what they were doing before or they will be out of business. So naturally we are now getting support for Elite.
The ship makes no sense. How does a ship that is physically larger than a python mk1 have a smaller power plant, smaller power distributor, smaller fuel tank, and not even a third of the optional internal space? is the ship hollow? or does the extra 2 utility slots and single extra hardpoint really take up half of the ship?
So if you bother doing the math on the dimensions between the 2 ships ... you are crying about a basketball court difference between 2 ships that are already nearly ~90 meters long in a video game that has never taken the interior vs exterior sapces into account when building out the game. SO until Frontier bothers to go full Star Citizen and redesign all their spaceshispt o be physcially realistic (as muic as possible); you are crying over pretend bullshit.
