Later, for the larger kit cars, it was the Ford Torino and LTD IIs. I seem to recall one company being sued out of existence by a certain Italian car company because the kit car company made the mistake of modeling their product very, very closely on the Italian company's best known, of the era, car. For a brief time, or so it seems to me all these years later, that there were a LOT of kit cars on the road but then they just sort of vanished. I can't help but wonder how many completed and semi completed kit cars are still out there in garages just waiting for someone to take them over the finish line and back on the road.

Thanks Mustie, reminded me of the 70 s, when I had my canary yellow beach buggy with it's 1200 VW motor, wish now I had kept it, what a ball of a time.
So nostalgic. I drove a 69 for a few years, and then restored a 62 and drove that for a few years. Nothing sounds like the little boxer engine. Of course, compared to my modern cars, what a piece of junk. The swing axle '62 was terrifying on corners at any speed. The heat was a joke. No AC of course. I still wish I had kept it.

Due to unforeseen world events of epic nature, Sunday has been moved to Thursday this week. Next week Saturday will follow Tuesday and May will not start until One AM April 31st.
Mustie, your carburetor understudy did pretty well . You need to teach him how to rap that carb body with the screwdriver handle to break that seal though.
I had one in the late 80s It is a Volkaro.... shortened vw chassis by 14 inches .. and the windshield was Karmen Ghia .. I had a 1600 in mine , I had nothing but grounding issues in the electrical system.. I did not build it .. I ended up running a dedicated ground strap from the front of the car to the back then to the ground side if the battery...it solved a lot of issues... I owned it several years and sold it in south dakota..
What you have there is a good Vokaro. I have the complete assembly manual with all the chassis modifications if you need info on it, as well as all the original advertising.
My sleeping roommate did not appreciate it when that thing stalled 3 times in a row trying to get up that shallow incline - but I thank you for the laugh. Cool car regardless.
For anything that has set up for a long time, why not just buy a new set of points and condenser and install it before finding out if the engine has spark? Saves time and frustration! I do this because the parts are very cheap, and I do not care about getting a specific part number. I just match them up with another part by eye, then record the part number in a journal specific to that vehicle that I record ALL services done, when, what parts bought, their part number, oil changes, filter changes (gas, oil, and air filter). I even do this for yard power machines such as rider mower, hand mower, chainsaw, hedge trimmer, and other equipment run by small engines including my homemade DC welder. This makes periodic maintenance a "snap" for everything that runs on gas or diesel! I have yard equipment that runs like new because of PM and careful use. I run the equipment out of fuel before setting it up before storage for the next season. Saves me time, and much money!
@@mustie1 I suspect this was a later Beach Buggy. Most of the first "Kit Cars" were based on the VW Beetle because of the floor pan and easy to reove "Beetle"" body. I seem to remember many years ago seeing something similar here in the U.K but was called a "Stingray Beach Buggy". I am guessing the 2 bolt per wheel was because the rims are 6 bolt pattern and the wheel hubs only 4 so it made it a rolling chassis with a view to getting 6 bolt hubs made?

Love your videos. This one is my new favorite! That car brought back memories from my teenage years watching Hardcastle and McCormick. The car in that show was similar to the Volkaro. You can tell you’ve been friends a long time, and it works well to make the video even more interesting.

Anyway fun video ... great on a Sunday morning while on the couch! Keep em' coming!
Its the Deathtrap 2000!
"Give me the wheel...."
Er ok....

One of your female viewers here. Just recently found this channel. I’m not even remotely a gear head but I had a 74 Super Beetle and really miss that car. This was so dang funny at the end! Thanks for the chuckle guys 😂😂
Welcome Julie! Mustie has a lot of funny moments.
Our lab does the same thing with cardboard boxes, makes recyling easier! She also goes nuts if I blow down a length of hose like a trumpet as well.
Loved the quote from the Red Green show. If they don't find you handsome, at least they will find you handy.
This is the funniest Mustie1 video I've ever seen. When the steering wheel came off, I just LMAO. Justin seems like a cool dude too. And his lady don't need to worry about teaching him yoga lessons, he does it naturally! :D
Reminds me of the old Bradley GT's from the mid 1970's.
The end was so funny, I love watching your videos!
M-1 your buddy is hilarious and has fast reflexes as well ... Great vid as usual ... Much appreciated .
That steering wheel scene was a hoot! I'm still giggling.
I dig the Bug motor home in the background!
Due to unforeseen world events of epic nature, Sunday has been moved to Thursday this week. Next week Saturday will follow Tuesday and May will not start until One AM April 31st.
Thanks for the heads up any chance you have the timetable for the week after next
Woke up and saw the video and thought, "Man, I've REALLY lost track of the days!"
@@foulbastard The week after next is postponed until further notice.
Noted😂
@@foulbastard As of Friday, the next 46 days will be the month of Maprilay, and every day is Wednesday the 4th.
I have been subbed to this channel for about 3 years. Somehow i had missed this episode.
I’ve been watching mustie since before he had an ultrasonic cleaner! Feels like just yesterday.
Love the stingray hood scoop behind the cockpit. Nice little car. I would love something like that to toy around with. Great video.
Thanks for the info
My sleeping roommate did not appreciate it when that thing stalled 3 times in a row trying to get up that shallow incline - but I thank you for the laugh. Cool car regardless.
When a dune buggy and a Corvette love each other very much... 😂
Lola Was on that box like Christmas Morning!! Enjoyed The Video!!
Reminds my of the 70's cartoon.Speed Buggy Sometimes even sounded like it
Rooma-zoom-zoom!
Great episode you two are having way to much fun.
Big hello from Alaska.
Oh that look, when the throttle locked wide open!!!!!!
I don't normally comment but thanks for the laugh right when we needed one.😁👍😉😂
Any time!
I love the complete silence when Mike said you know what I do NEED???? you were afraid to ask LMAO Miami hair and white penny loafers I just lol wish I could have seen your face Darren when he said you know what I NEED??? your face had to be so funny with scared shock LOL you both are very good together love the banter!!!! LOLA is so sweet
You guys make a good team. Maybe do some more videos together? Loved it!
not sure which is more entertaining Lola or you guys but either way I enjoyed watching .
feels like im watching the red and green show all over again duct tape fixes everything 🤣🤣
Loved the laughter!!! Good times! Thanks!
Don't forget the suit jacket with the sleeves rolled up to match the loafers. Lol Miami vice. Lol
Love your videos. This one is my new favorite! That car brought back memories from my teenage years watching Hardcastle and McCormick. The car in that show was similar to the Volkaro. It was made to look like an old McLaren, and was built on a VW chassis with a Porsche motor. Plus, the way you two banter back and forth is hilarious! You can tell you’ve been friends a long time, and it works well to make the video even more interesting.
