12:20 As a teenager a neighbor's horse died from eating a piece of plastic & having a serious colic. Beautiful red mare died. Seeing that plastic bag reminded me again. Glad you spotted it before calf.
Thank you Adrian! I wanted to say that as your videos really lifts my spirits. Also how it warms my heart watching all the family together out in the field helping you truly that’s a wonderful sight. Health and happiness to you all.
It's called Garlic Mustard also Known as Jack by the hedge! You can eat it though it's best to eat the top younger leaves as the the larger ones can be a bit bitter!
That plant is garlic mustard. If your cows eat it it can taint the milk, but it is nice in a salad. Nothing wrong with turnip you bid jessy, I hope your wife put in in the Irish stew just to put a smile on your mothers face.😂😂
Thanks boss I watch your video very enjoy. I like dairyfarm working please help me. I am still now Saudi Arabia dairyfarm 8 year milker departing I have a 8year Express
Fantastic video Adrian 👍 the wee calves having a right auld frolic, and a wee ping to the nose just for good measure 😂 👋 Sinead great to see you again, your lassie are a credit to you both 🥰 Have a wonderful Bank Holiday ❤
Says a lot about you Adrian when you dropped the door of the cattle trailer to move the calf’s it’s immaculate,a credit to how well you keep your equipment 👌🏻👌🏻
Great video as usual. Brings back memories of letting the calves out, at home. I was listening to shouts of " run can't you" or " stand in front and block them" 😅 I didn't know it at the time but I can look back now and appreciate good days and good memories
One of the highlights of my Sunday nights, love watching especially tonight's episode loved seeing how yous work as a family , it was fascinating to see the calf's running about and learning to stay away from the wire. Yous have such an unbelievable hard life but what a beautiful life you and your family have. All the very best
A suggestion - When training calves on the electric fence, try doing it in a walled enclosure - maybe use machinery (tractor & trailer) to make a 'wall', have wire 1-2 metres from boundary. The daylight is a big part of the 'excitement' and if they break through they can't escape. Leave 'em there for a few hours and the field part might also be less exciting! Do you get what I am at? Now I never tried it and basically because it's a while since I farmed good luck with it anyway! My turnips was bacon and cabbage and of course the more it was forced the more you hated it - now you couldn't give me enough of it and the turnips add to the fayre. This is a popular dish in Munster with the people who have their dinner in the middle of the day! I converted half of London to it and a few of our own as well and everyone is swelled and happy!
We used to paint emulsion paint on the cows tails to check for heat detection. If a cow is bulling rather than just being jumped on you can tell the difference between them because the bulling one will have lifted her tail rubbing more paint off
Great vid.... bit imagine making it about bursting your bubbles 🙄🤪 stay safe 🏴.. ps.. that old gate will outlast anything made nowadays... especially galvanised field gats 😅..
The plant at 7:31 is Alliaria petiolata, or garlic mustard. It's edible and can be added to a salad or even chopped in with mashed spuds. It makes an excellent pesto too.
Great to see the calfs running mad with the tails up in the air new starts to another year, what's the crack with wife's and girlfriend, is there something your telling us Adrian, not sure about the bubble job, to honest much like you said Adrian I think it's better to see your cattle a bullin, back to wet weather after a week of sun, that's the summer over 😂, very enjoyable video as usual stay lucky
Hi Adrian and family, great video, we have a friends Pedigree Sheep 🐑 and their Lambs for a couple of months. We have put electric tape on, and they all but one keep well away from it. The same Lamb is out every morning, rain or shine. Fortunately she never goes far from her mother and the flock. I'm living the best life being a part time farmer. So so tiring, counting Sheep every day.😅. Keep videoing, you make our Sunday morning.
I couldnt be without a fence tester whenever herding. As for the turnips, my late father grew gardens of them every year, supplied every shop, supermarket, canteens and restaurant in nearby city. Still love them mashed with butter and some salt.
Adrian to replace the bubbles patches. We do cut the old bubble off just leaving the patch and stick the new bubble patch over it so we don’t have to always rip there hair off
We had a person talking about wolf proofing our horse fencing. One of the most important things for the condition of the electric tape is to NOT make knots in it, as it the shorts out on itself. Same goes for connections on underground wire. About the grips.. i was told that in the tape there is a couple copper wires, and the copper reacts with the inox of the grips and make em rust anyway. No matter what brand.. i use only gallager grips, but they do it too. But cutting out knots and connect em with special connectors made a difference this year.
@@IFarmWeFarm for horses we use wider tape (4cm) and thick cord. I new knotting wasn't the best way as you sometimes could hear it tick. But those special connectors aren't cheap. (As is everything on the horsefencing equipement is). And with 3 lines going around 14hectares in 4 different fields, we got some fencing hanging around 😅 and a lot of tape-gates too. But with current weather conditions grass and weeds underneath the fence is the main thing of loosing energy.
Stir fry shredded Sweed with bacon bits and soy sauce. Different vegetable all together ❤️ Great video, great to see the family helping with the Calf training. 😊
The plant is called charlock a garlic flavoured herb from the brassica family. I expect your mum was trying to make the turnips a bit tasty . We will be glad to do these things again, not if, but when the food shortages begin. I have to say I don’t like turnips either, but swedes are quite nice. We have another farmer’s calves for the summer, they can break through well fenced thick hedges with us before they settle down. It must be a bit scary for them having not seen the earth and sky before.
I agree Adrian. Turnips are offal smelling. Funny story. I thought mom made potato soup. Turns out it was turnip soup. I got a big bowl and dad made me eat every bit. Lesson learned.
@IFarmWeFarm get them pigtails that's a foot long approx & screw them to the wall and put your electric tape on them. The calves will soon learn to stay away from it. Once you'll let them out into the yard / field you'll be amazed how they stop at it straight away. They wouldn't learn about electric tape in an hour in the yard I think.
Great video, i usually let calves into an enclosed yard for a few hour's and then divided the yard with the electric fence. They wont run through it as much, you have great help there!
Another great video Adrian! Funny I work with a farmland he was talking about those black 🐌 and the damage they can do! And saying some of the boys cutting silage are asking for trouble!
Go out last ting at night With the torch best time of day to pick the heifers up bulling. As they normally tend to lie down at night I use Ai on a few sucklers and the last thing at night visit is the one you pick up the most
Battery fencer is good for a belt shock. Do you have fence tester on you. I have a folt finder. It give you a volt reading between 1000 to 20000 volts a arrow show you were a folt. You should fence a small area in field for one day. A run around yard with a fence is good job
Just wondering if you were able to get to de back of ur silage pit this year if not r u going to try and pull the old grass down and build de new pit on top so u ba able to use up de old grass
Another great video. You are always happy and positive On camera. Thank you. Great family Farm.xxxxxxx

Second time watching. i usual watch all your videos twice. Love them. Thank you. xxxxxxx
A family affair with quality craic… “you touch it” “no you touch it” ⚡️😂
Great video Adrian as always aye in our house you ate what was put in front of you or else no dinner and straight to bed 🤣👌
Thank you Adrian! I wanted to say that as your videos really lifts my spirits. Also how it warms my heart watching all the family together out in the field helping you truly that’s a wonderful sight. Health and happiness to you all.
Thank you, glad you enjoy them 👍
Good to see the calves at turn out. Your girls know exactly what to do. Fortunate to have such talented youth. Thank you for sharing.🐄
It is good to see the boss out giving you hand making sure your doing things right😊
Lol, Google translater tried to convince us that you let your cars out..... 🤣🤣🤣That made me laugh out loud! 🤣🤣
Done well to get 11 cars in one trailer 😂
@@IFarmWeFarm lol, Indeed! 🤣
Another great video! Always good to see the family working together to accomplish a task on the farm. Take care and be safe...
You are so very good at explaining what you are doing for us that aren't farmers.

Amazing ❤️❤️👍👍
"All of them !" LOL ! you ladies have done this before ! 😆
👍😊👍 Another busy day on the family farm ❤️
Always had two options at meal times , you either eat , or you don't !
Did we live in the same house? 😆
You were lucky, we had one option..."get it down you"😀

Ur Mother was right Adrian, turnips a bit of butter and a grain of pepper absolutely delicious, great video again.
too much excitement for this old lady!! Just loved seeing the calves moving to the field. thank you for this super video.
Cracking video nice to see the family helping out Adrian 👍👍👍
Who doesn't like to see young cattle getting out of their enclosure for the 1st time, nice seeing all the family out as well. 👍
Adrian, thank you again for an informative family video! Great to see! Your farm is so green, beautiful!

Jam jars of stale beer we used years ago to get rid of slugs and snails on our garden of veg worked a treat

Give Sinead and the girls a camera Adrian. Let them have a wives and kids view of farming :D Great video again btw

@7:27 that's White Dead-nettle, very invasive, spreads like hell through the roots.
Think that plant is Jack in the Hedge also known as garlic and mustard. Loads around here on the Chilterns and my garden.
Not sure when you hit 100K, but congratulations. Thank you for the content and sharing your farm life with us! from Florida - USA

In England we call that plant jack by the hedge or garlic mustard.

7:59 for Me the worst smell ever to come out of the kitchen was when My Father as cooking Cabbage.
I always loved cabbage 😀
Great team effort!
Great video all the family out with u on calf turnout day ur has a comic strike like ur self
You think Adrian might of checked the current before letting calves out of the trailer. 😆Scratch cards are a gamble, sometimes you get a win.....
I love how your extended family follows you around when you are talking to the camera lol
Disappointed that no one picked up on the step brothers reference when you were loading the calves into the float at home. 😂😂😂
I couldnt be without a fence tester whenever herding.

Hi Adrian. Another great video.i always look forward to your content. Take care.
Try getting in touch with Kiluragh iron works in Cappamore in Limerick to do the blacksmith gates. They won’t weld if you try it.
Adrian to replace the bubbles patches. We do cut the old bubble off just leaving the patch and stick the new bubble patch over it so we don’t have to always rip there hair off
its garlic mustard - (confirm yourself) tasty on salads
Hi lad them is was Happy heifers calf you let outside 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Great video just wondering if you could spray a salt or even spread sulphur in the fertiliser would that eliminate the slug issue
I'm late in adding my comment but I'm [retty sure that plant with a strong smell is garlic mustard, an "invasive species". We have it too! Michigan.
I love when the cows are turned out! They all turn into little horses and lambs cavorting about!!!!
I saw some lambs gambolling the other day, not sure if they were playing poker or 3 card brag.😀

Brilliant plan to fence train calves!
Your family is adorable.
Cute baby cows ❤
Are there no sprays or pellets for the snails?
Share the gate restoration please
The plant is garlic mustard you can eat that in salads
Ahhhh…. I thought Dead Nettle…. I stand corrected 😊
Never heard of that one, but I’ll know now the next time Andrew 👌
Stir fry shredded Sweed with bacon bits and soy sauce. Different vegetable all together ❤️
Great video, great to see the family helping with the Calf training. 😊
Hi I like your video
Oh, I LOVE turnips!
Good video the calves had great fun, put a bit of Denso tape over the cables when you join it prevents corrosion
would it be worth to slap a load of dielectric grease on the insulators? should prevent the corrosion yearly and maintain continuity.
👀🙄🐾👍 Great video Adrian I have always found the svratchied to be better than the Kamars

Cracking video as always. Keep up the good work Adrian
I think a wee Angus Bull would be better than any bubbles and save you time and money Adrian. Them snails will go away hopefully soon.
Hi spray paddock
Hefers looking good must be expanding all them coming
Why dont you put up a length of cord in the shed for a week or two before you let them out of the shed and then they'll be use to it when they go out.
Probably would work better in fairness. It’s a small wee shed though and they haven’t much room as is.

Have to be careful of botulism when the silage is been fed
Well Adrian, how u keeping, not bad weather, great healthy calfs, lovely farm, chat soon, kieran from laghey donegal town
You could put sheep wire and two lines of mains around the bog field with the calves. Nothing would go through that.
Go out last ting at night With the torch best time of day to pick the heifers up bulling. As they normally tend to lie down at night

Great Video Adrian. You have good help with you. Enjoyed watching 👍🏼
Ahh…. Exciting times! A very entertaining video, Adrian. Thank you 😊
They also set off the bubbles by scratching off trees
The best electric gate is the spring the last forever
And as for Turnips the steam when the are boiling is said to be great for your lungs
Hi did ya ever try putting the wire up in the calf shed first
Just wondering if you were able to get to de back of ur silage pit this year if not r u going to try and pull the old grass down and build de new pit on top so u ba able to use up de old grass
If our loader man arrives on time we will try get all of that old stuff moved to the front so it’s used first Paul. There’s very little left
@@IFarmWeFarm if he doesn't u could always try and move it urself with ur front loader on the tractor
Hi Adrian I am pretty sure there is a phone app that can help you identify that invasive plant.
calves going out for the first time never gets old many thanks
Scratch cards are way better for heifers we find when there completely scratched off there definitely on heat won't come off if there put on properly
Are they British friesian because they are in some really good condition
Yes mostly British Emma
