I’m glad that Dan as much as I hated him through the seasons, managed to find redemption and redeemed himself in the end. And the afterlife scene when Keith comes back to collect Dan always leaves me with a hard lump in my throat!
I understand that they cut this because showing Julian and Dan's relationship wasn't that important but this was the key to why Julian decided to do the Ravens show, now I know Dan gave him the idea.

As much as I hate Dan, THIS is how you do a character redemption. Forget the Snape bullshit of "oh but he was in love with her the whole time" , this is a man acknowledging just how badly he fucked up and then vowing to make sure he never hurts his family again. Even after Nathan and Lucas push him away time and time again (and for very good reason), he does what is best for his children and grandchildren. He knows what he did is unforgiveable, but you don't do what Dan did for forgiveness. You do it for yourself, and for the people you love. Dan knew full well that his sons, particularly Nathan, would never trust him the way they once did ever again, but he did all that he did anyway. He rescued Jamie, he rescued Nathan, and when he was told to stay away, he stayed away. Dan is one of the most conflicting characters I've ever seen, and to be honest, that is the best part about him to me. He tears you apart because yes he does good, but the bad he does is unforgiveable. And I love that.
Agreed! I hate Dan, because he killed Keith, and was abusive towards Nathan, and Lucas when he actually acknowledged him. But he did care about his sons and grandchildren, and his daughter in law, and he did what he could to help them, even though Nathan and Lucas both could never forgive him. Some people may argue that Nathan forgave him by the time he died, but I think it's far more complicated than that. He hates him for all the bad stuff he's done, and he'll never forgive him, but he also loves him for the good he's done like saving Jamie, and Haley and him. It's always clear that he's always wanted to see the good in Dan, but there was just too much bad there. I mean, he was always trying to believe the best in Dan, even after he was told he killed Keith, he didn't want to believe it and went to him and told him that he would stand by him if he told him it wasn't true, and he was heartbroken when he couldn't do that. So yeah, Dan knew that neither of them would ever forgive him, but he still did what he could to help them. And his relationship with Jamie was really cute.
I hated Dan in the high school seasons, but he redeemed himself during the adult seasons. I think his bad heart condition forced him to change his ways. His relationship with Jamie was so cute and it was also like being a grandfather gave him a second chance to be better to his grandson than he was to either of his sons.
First of all Snape was a hero, let’s not bring his tragic end into this 💀

does brooke have a scene with dan in the hospital? i know don't make sense cuase they never interacted but still it still be nice hear two cents considering how important he was to her friends plus I would like to see her make jokes about making Julian into a man or some shit
