    Anxiously awaiting the release of this light. My entire studio is equipped with Paul C. Buff lights and with the release of this I plan to keep it that way. I purchased 3 Godox lights for outdoor shoots and I want to sell them ASAP....... Hopefully I can get these in my studio soon. I need more lights NOW!!!!!!

    The Link looks so awesome! I'm really looking forward to trying these out at some point! I’ve built my career on Paul C Buff Einsteins and Alien Bees. Both have served me well for many years.
    That being said, I’ve been waiting for a Paul C Buff strobe like the Link for a long time now. The addition of high speed sync, an 800 watt equivalent LED for video work, the battery pack that can be attached to the strobe itself, 800 watt seconds of power and the new silicon diffusion dome combined with the already awesome features like color mode and action mode... This light has everything that I would want in a strobe as a working professional. Looks like a great new product to add to your already awesome product line!

      Thanks so much, Brian! We know this type of light has been a long time coming from us and we are excited to have it out in the market very soon! Glad to hear that it would be a great asset to your workflow. We packed a lot of power, and features, into the LINK and are happy to know that it has everything you want!

      Willy D, we are on the edge of our seats over here waiting to get a firm date. Unfortunately 2020 has not been nice to our timeline for release but it is soon. We will make an announcement just as soon as we have a firm date.

    Looks like Buff is finally getting serious again! Looking forward to seeing some independent reviews, but this looks like a serious entry that was well thought out in almost every regard. Really glad to see it will work with the Cyber-Commander system (since I already have 7 WL & Einsteins with Cyber-Sync). Great work! (Now if we could just get a Cyber Commander with a larger screen!)

    Wish you'd shown us the dedicated HUB remote and the HSS and TTL capabilities. I have used Einsteins for years now but was on the verge of getting a Broncolor Siros 800L for outside action shoots, my biggest interest will be how the Link compares to the Broncolor specifically for actual output, HSS vs Hypersync, HSS is not as efficient but does give better consistency across the image, and usability and that is mostly to do with the HUB, I've had CyberCommanders for years but hope the menu system for them is nowhere to be found on the new controller!
    Well done on the new light and if the features live up to the specs I'll be getting four, I'm already on the email list for one at release and will be testing it hard :-)

      Thanks for the kind words! We will definitely be releasing videos soon with the HUB and new Buff app. We listened to our customers concerns regarding the Cyber Commander etc have really streamlined the controls in the App. Can't wait to be able to share more with you all.

    This is an incredible package, that 800w modeling light is sort of a game changer, and love to hear about how it is cooled. Curious about those gel caps, full cto? Light loss with the translucent material?

    • @PaulcbuffInc
      @PaulcbuffInc  4 роки тому

      Hey Jon! The LINK is cooled using an internal fan and heat pipes. The heat pipes draw heat from the front of the unit, generated by the modeling light, across the top to aide in cooling. The gel caps will be available for in both full and half CTO.

    Can the Link be powered with my current battery packs, Vagabond and Vagabond Mini?

    • @PaulcbuffInc
      @PaulcbuffInc  4 роки тому

      Hi there! Two part answer haha. Yes, it WILL work with our VLX (Vagabond Lithium Extreme), but it WILL NOT work with our VMINI.
      There are two things that cause the VML to brown-out when attempting to charge a LINK:
      1) The LINK uses a boost converter to achieve a higher power factor then the older lights. (>0.9 on the LINK vs. about 0.6 on the older lights)
      2) When the load on the VML is greater than 100W, the line voltage will sag until the high-load condition passes. On the older lights, when the line voltage decreases, the load it presents also decreases, because it uses a capacitive multiplier to charge the flash capacitors. Eventually, the decrease in voltage and current reach an equilibrium at around 100W and the light charges at a reduced rate. On the LINK, when the line voltage decreases, the LINK will attempt to maintain a constant load because, by definition, a high power factor means that the product presents a constant load to the line. So as the voltage sags, the LINK will attempt to draw more current to maintain a constant load, until the VML browns-out and causes the LINK to turn off entirely.
      If you have any additional questions, please feel free to get in touch with our customer service team at info@paulcbuff.com or by phone at 1-800-443-5542 (M-F from 9am - 5pm CT).

    I can't find any information about camera system compatibility with these lights. Anyone?

    • @PaulcbuffInc
      @PaulcbuffInc  4 роки тому

      Hey David! Upon the initial release the LINK will be compatible with Nikon and Canon (with Sony soon to follow) for HSS and TTL via the new HUB remote. For standard use (action or color mode) you can use our current CST2 trigger transmitter or CyberCommander remote. There is a built-in CyberSync transceiver in the LINK flash unit. Hope that helps!

    First off I'm a huge PCB fan. Congrats on a new product. Trying to wrap my head around this product. Would you say this is a battery powered Einstein with a better modeling light? Realyl excited for the Buff app - can you control Einsteins also or just the LINK?

    • @PaulcbuffInc
      @PaulcbuffInc  4 роки тому +3

      Hey Aaron, it really incorporates features from all of our previous flashes. Has all the capability of the Einstein and more. With the app you with be able to control the Einsteins, Alien Bees, Digi Bees and White Lightning units as well:)

      I may be out over my ski's, but this looks like it will be right up there with the Broncolor Siros! I did not even pick up from the video that the App might control the other PCB lights... this could be a real game changer! This light really seems to pretty much "do it all" (as much as anything can).

    This is exactly what I'm looking for. I have 3 Alien Bee lights which I've owned since 2008 and have never failed me and served me extremely well. I had to invest in some Westcott lights years ago for continuous lights and I always hoped for a single solution to combine both functions for my needs. I can't wait for this thing to be released. I can swap out 7 lights for 3 and accomplish both functions. My only question is I've made an investment in Paul C. Buff Modifiers for my Alien Bees, will these still be compatible with the LINK or are they outdated and need to be replaced specifically the 47 Inch Octabox and the 22-inch beauty dish?? The Video says it will be compatible with all current modifiers. I am not sure if that means all the ones I purchased back in 2008 are covered by this statement.

    • @PaulcbuffInc

    • @PaulcbuffInc
