I would love to hear your thoughts on Bakuchiol as an alternative to retinoids. I’ve heard people say it’s good for sensitive skin as it has the same benefits as retinoids but without the potential side effects
She already did! Look for her video “Does retinol always work?” posted March 30th 2024. Spoiler: she says it’s all BS and marketing, there are no proven benefits
For people saying Vitamin C serums have broken them out- I have sensitive skin, and I've tried many brands and alot of them also leave a greasy feeling. - Dr. Idriss brand moisturizer has Vitamin C, and it's not greasy. It hasn't irritated my face at all. I love it. It's really worth trying
Totally agree, I think you have to find the right vitamin c for you. When I started using the cosrx vitamin c, my skin experienced a “purge” for about a week, but after that it stopped and my skin has not been this clear in years!
I use a Vitamin C powder formulated for skin from Neogen. It comes with a little scoop and dissolve it in aloe gel. If my skin is a little sensative, I lower the amount that day.
I understand that you give us different types of things to use in the face when you speak above vitamin C could you please put a list of different vitamin C's for young skin in the thirties or for people that are older I appreciate you thank you
Top 3 is Sunscreen reapplied every 3 has as its UVA radiation from sunlight that breaks down collagen. 2. ANTIOXIDANTS in your diet blueberries raspberry pomegranate etc. Vitamin C topically applications are good by Pycnogenol has 5x the antioxidant effect of Vitamin C
My philosophy is - put a hat on your head, stay in shade, avoid direct sun exposure before 4pm and enjoy life. I'm using corrector mixed with moisturizer as a skin tint since I can't find the shade that is light enough for me, I've never used sunscreen, I've spent every summer on the beach. I'm 56. I have jowls appearing and shallow line across my neck. That's all. Not one single spot of hyperpigmentation. Skin is genetics, most of all, than lifestyle. Nobody needs re-applying SPF 5 times a day unless they are living in tropical climate and are staying in the hot sun most of the time.
Please do a video on Sun products for your lips. And whether you can use regular suncream on them. I would love some recommendations(I live in Europe) because I have been using blistex balm, but it dries out my lips. Thanks for all your informative video's!
Truly O'Keefe's has been the best one and most affordable (like 3.50 in the states). Like even during accutane I found it to be the best and most long lasting and I've tried stuff from the cheap range to expensive. Okeefes is definitely my most fave lip balm in general (and body lotion)
Please fix the audio ❤ I love you and your content please don’t ever stop you have changed my life and I love you but my ears hurt every time I watch these ❤
I’ve tried 3 different vitamin C serums and every single one has broken me out. 😭 I’ve also tried Niacinamide and it has broken me out. It’s sooo discouraging
I've had the same problem, couldn't tolerate any vitamin c. Recently I am trying the vanicream vitamin c and so far so good! It's been about 1 month. It uses another form of vit c. no irritation, brightening and glowy.
Dr Idriss, I have a question. I began purchasing your skin product line, major fade as soon as you launched it. I’ve now purchased 4 times I’d say and 3 times was through your website. However, you recently launched on Sephora so I bought it at Sephora near me that carries your line in store. I noticed that the major fade seal cream doesn’t look like the other 3 I purchased through your site. The other 3 had a slight yellowish tint to them this was is white as snow. Almost as if it’s missing the vitamin c. Do you have any feedback as to why this would be??
both. eating the vitamins that are good for the skin is probably the most effective thing. ^^ and enough water. but sure topically is probably a good bonus.
Can you do a video for skincare and anti-aging for pregnant and breastfeeding people? What is/is not safe to use? Retinoids are supposed to be unsafe for baby, but I've heard Bakuchiol is supposedly safe? I haven't seen much research on Bakuchiol, though, so I'm not sure how safe it ACTUALLY is.
I think she made a whole video about vitamin c products. I remember her recommending the timeless vitamin c + e serum but that was just one of many recommendations.
L ascorbic acid is more irritating than Retinal for me, it makes my skin so uncomfortable. I tried many many brands, i gave up on on pure vitamin C and went for derivatives, but they're clearly not as potent and efficient.
Honest question- i tried to start using a vitamin c serum every other day and it made my skin peel SO badly, like all of the skin around my nose and mouth was flaking and peeling and i stopped using it and had such a difficult time rescuing my skin afterwards. Is there some other way i could use it and not have this happen? 😮💨
Now what if I can’t tolerate even Vit C, above all the others? I can’t take it in a capsule either because of acid reflux, what would be the way for someone like me?
I use Estrogen cream around my eyes every day after reading an interview with another NY based derm (she'd been using it for 20 years!). It's a prescription cream used for vaginal dryness. I just convinced my GP to write me a script! 😄
Can Vit C be substituted with Niacinamide for collagen boosting? I use Niacinamide 2x per day and have seen a lot of skin quality improvement, also use RetinAl 0,05% 3x per week and Glycolic Acid 1x per week. Sunscreen every day. I have tried to use Vit C several times, different products but always break my skin up.
Can skin be retinol- resistant?😂 i have zero effect from 0.5% Retinyl palmitate ointment or 0.2 serum, though my thin dry skin is easily irratated by other acids
It was the same for me. Rosacea makes skin ultra sensitive and reactive. I fixed this by applying an antibiotic cream that kills Demodex. People with rosacea have 4 to 5 times more Demodex on their skin than people without this condition. Too much Demodex causes chronic inflammation of the skin - hence the overall redness and it's over sensitivity. Azelaic acid could be a very good complimentary treatment, as it's very effective at calming the inflammation/redness.

Thanks for this. I hope to hear more about it too!!
I second this comment. Would live to hear more about Bakuchiol from Dr. Idriss.

Its cope
She's done it. Basically it's useless.

Vitamin C topically or as supplement?
IV is the most effective
Enema.
Thank you retinol is just such a dicey thing with my rosacea
Yes! Thank you so much for the information but could you address the application? Thanks again!

Right but antioxidant never improves skin health. It will only prevent it from getting worse. It is like armour, nothing more.

Ohhh I didn’t know the hint about Pycnogenol. Thank you! I saw The Ordinary has a Pycnogenol serum, have you tried it, or is there a better product?
@@greenlean8890is that good for hyperpigmentation?

Avene makes a nice one
@SunshinePip thanks for the recommendation:) going to see if that is available here and what kind of ingredients it has.
EltaMD, Sun Bum, and, O'Keefe's also make good lip balms with SPF
Supergoop makes some too that are good

Is this topical or oral Vitamin C? ❤️

Thank you for the video. So I can use vitamin C on alternate nights that I use retinol? Along with my hyaluronic acid and then oil free lotion?
Vit C in the morning !
Can you recommend Vitamin C for mature skin
Obagi
Wait a second… She said three but then only listed one thing. I think this is her thing.
I prefer to consume enough Vit C naturally like Guava, Lemon or eating raw centella leaf and winged bean.
My skin does not tolerate vitamin c. What else can I use
I think its time for a new mic, if its your phone its prolly water damaged
Orally or topically? Which vitamin C do you recommend?

Does it work the same if I use Vitamin C serum or is it strictly pill form?
That's what I want to know

my Malasma gets worse with Vit C! what can I do? spread all the way to my neck if I use vit C😢
That’s sad. Which brand were you using? Did you use sunscreen when you were using it?
yes I always use sunscreen and can't remember the kind of Vit C but was one very popular in the internet
I live in Texas, so there's no retinol fore 9 months out of 12! Thanks!
What are the other 2 ways?
Vitamin C in serum or in moisturize which one is better??
Vitamin C irritates me more than retinol
Vitamin C irritates me more than tretinoin lol
Some people find Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) irritating. I like the ester form Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate.
whats the brand you trust the most for vitamin C serum? There are so many "influencers" out there, it's overwhelming to know who to trust.

Maybe you can try mixing two drops of vitamin c in your nighttime or daytime moisturizer.
How often should I be using vitamin c for skincare?…every other day?
It can be used daily!
