Honestly, with a little retooling, I can see this guy making a really solid Legacy Barricade. Fixing the shoulders, the weird little back fins, and changing the head. Or maybe I'm just taking copium because I want a new Barricade.

On the retools, I recently got the apc toys ko cliffjumper, and I can definently see where chase was pretooled for cliff.

Same here, but I’m a teenager and do I am the only one who find ironic how he says beast wars with the outdated animation is still good even if it’s not really updated animation to me, but you don’t want to be touch for kids. It feels close to the same reason that’s perspective andto watch beast wars, something makes people not wanna watch them and if you like it, it’s really good

I think rescue bots was designed in the same mentality of bluey and old Thomas. Design it for the parents who have to watch/read it over and over again and it shows cause it is arguably the best show in aligned. It doesn't fuck up being a sequel like rid 2015, it doesn't downplay its audience like its sequel arguably does at times and the designs aren't just metal dudes like some prime designs

People like rescue bots and bluey because it’s just fun and casual. Characters are well written, and it’s nice to watch something that’s not just fighting all the time

I get where PE is coming from. Bluey is an amazing show but unless you're a parent (or kid) you might not get much out of it. When I watched it with my 2 year old Bluey taught me a lot about being a good parent. Lots of tips and tricks to help me do better. Rescue Bots is just a solid kids show that I enjoyed watching with my kid but I wouldn't have sought it out on my own (I'm currently 42 btw). PE is only 28 without kids so (no pun intended) has a very different perspective.
1st. Rescue boats is a good show.
2nd. No that head is flat out wrong, it's the toy head not the show head. Anyone who knows rescue bots wants the show head.
Also those two "guns" are his tasers.
Like others in this comment section, I like this figure because it's a more poseable version of Chase. I was 9 when the show came out, but I remember it being very maturely-written for a "baby show". I'll take rescue bots over the uncreative slop I'm supposed to watch.
You know, I really want to see them attempt to make a Trex Optimus prime. NOTE: I am only saying this because I own the exclusive blue version that they sold for a bit.

If they base it on the toy it could work as a retool of Kingdom Megatron, on the other hand the cartoon design would be much harder to do
I saw Rescue Bots a while back because it popped up and I was bored, I was actually surprised how good the show was. It's not a masterpiece but it was a pretty solid series. The characters are all distinct and the humans avoid so many stupid issues the franchise has, such as being useless and kids always running into danger. Plus their Optimus is a good iteration and despite not having Decepticons the human villains work pretty well.
Though Rescue Bots Academy is 100% for the younger audiences, the writing lacks most of the nuance and elements adults will get (not adult jokes, just little nods for them). Regular Rescue Bots is a case of "made for kids, written for everyone".
Also Heatwave is shockingly violent for a young kids show.
I like to pretend that Chase's Crimson-Chin is a face mask.
I don't know why they couldn't give Chase a regular face as well as a neck.

Huh, you know what? That is a valid point on the whole "Back of the figure should get good treatment, too" aspect.
Battle scenes may require that look of the figure from behind, and if the figure looks very much like they aren't a robot, but an attempt to recreate the robot as a toy with half-hearted energy, that's valid to be disappointed by.
Also that 28 bit is too real, but I'm still younger than that and feel the body hurting more than it ever should at my age (Still in 20sl

Fun fact: i grew up and was introduced to the transformers through two means: rescue bots and Age of extinction. So the idea that they’re making figures for this show makes me super happy. Cant wait for Blades (hopefully), he was always my favorite. So yes, nostalgia is carrying this hard for me
My very first transformers as a child (not counting a happy meal toy I lost the same day I got it... thereabouts...) were G1 Pounce and Wingspan. I literally had to wait thirty years for HasTak to release modern versions of them in the Takara Legends line. So I think it's nice they offered a Rescue-Bot in the Generations line this early.
I still have a soft spot for rescue bots, I haven't seen it in a long time but it's the reason I got back into transformers in the first place

After I watched the video where you went over the revealed prime cliffjumper, and you said the shoulder joints were bad there, I knew that this would be a mixed review at best.

So anyone else upset about the "leader" soundwave just being a voyager that comes with 3 cassettes which is essentially the value of 1½ core figures. When "leader" thundertron is a voyager that comes with 1 cassette and an entire deluxe and is basically a multipack not a leader.

The only thing you need to know about this guy is he’s pretty much as “by the book” as RiD strongarm or prowl with the enthusiasm of shockwave. And everyone on the show has bulkhead jaws but not that degree as a way of having a place for a mouth without giving a mouth outside of talking

in every video i've seen of legacy chase the same thing has happened, Its Not fit for a barricade, Almost EVERY Barricade design is the complete opposite
Car front to chest, windshield to back, and feet coming out of nowhere, More of anything Prime knockout with a bit of retooling would suit barricade more

May I ask why Barricade/Prowl repaint is dissliked by you that much?
Devoted fan of a black evil Prowl I'm not, but I also don't mind it since with acception of studio series, I wouldn't been suprized if Hasbro took their sweet time making a new one for quite a while.
I honestly can't when it comes to most figures having their backs look like its been carved or when magneto forced the adimantium out of Wolverne's body.

OK, 3 things. one maybe you can consider roasting rescue bots because they look like a combination of both the prime and G1 designs.
Two there is something cool they did with their version of Optimus prime, they gave him a primal mode. Which is take Optimus prime have him transforming into beast wars Megatron with the tail of the dragonzord gave him the ability to roar like Godzilla and name the mode after Optimus primal. How is that not cool?
And three welcome to the one lifetime review a man. It’s like a review, but I get to do it before PerspectiveEnd does a review on it to give him a heads up, but for pain! Legacy Magmatron is a good figure, but there are some things I don’t like. The look of the figure is great. It feels like an update on the original toy. Possibility is a little weird. There is a swivel at the head, but the wings in the way. And for some reason, they gave them a waste but pacifically made a track in the joint so it’s basically useless and also when was the last time we had a transform with palm articulation. Accessories are good. He comes with three swords one shield and a blast effect. Well, I think he would mainly use the blue sword and the green shield. I don’t know why he has those red twin swords? Does he has as a back up in case he loses both of them in a fight? Transformation is the most mixed considering your transforming three beasts at once. The sky-saurus? easy love it. The sea-saurus tricky? but I can get used to it. The land-saurus? Sucks while the transformation itself is easy trying to get the parts warming piece in there is the most fiddly and frustrating part of the whole figure. And considering it’s just a kibble cover I usually don’t even put it on because I don’t usually mind the kibble. The transformation was so I scraped some plastic off of the tip of the sword handle. The beast mode all three of them look good and the and the combined beast mode, which I cannot remember the name of is interesting. Overall, this figure is good if not a bit fiddly.

Even though legacy chase is my favorite figure in my entire collection, and I named my channel after it, I totally understand. It's not perfect. The head I like but still think it could have been better, The thing i dislike the most about it is the dumb back kibble.
I know you wont believe a show for babies is gonna be good but it is actually more interesting than prime dispite being in the same universe. And yes rescue bots is a baby show, but that baby show what the thing that brought some of us into the transformers. so at least respect it for that. (I got introduced to the franchise by the G1 cartoon so what i said doesn't apply to me.) And yes I'll take my bluey elsewhere what about it? Sorry I enjoy baby shows that actually had more interesting things to say and do other than share and learn colors and shapes.

I don't doubt that it's a better show than prime, and probably great for what it is, but I don't believe that it is a show that transcends to being something for me.
And look from what I understand of Bluey it's a great show for kids, but I as a Kidless adult am not interested.
I grew up with Rescue Bots. I wasn’t born when the toy line started, but I was 1 when the show premiered. This isn’t bias, but they should finish the Rescue Bots team. They have good potential as Legacy figures.
I'm fully on board with you guys getting toys of the characters.
Great review PE, never really got the hype about Bluey or Rescue Bots so the lack of quality on the figure wasn't too surprising. As a side note... Any chance you're getting Magic Square's Grimlock? Maybe for an 8/8 anniversary/birthday review??
I was about to buy this guy, but FUCK do those shoulders look frustrating to handle! Also, they really should've thought of a way to have his vestigial wing bits cover up those gaping torso holes from behind. Thanks for the heads up, I think Imma buy another Shard instead.
As someone who has nostalgia for the original Rescue bots show, this honestly really isn’t that faithful at all, and even with the nostalgia it fails to meet any expectations I had for the figure.
His head is completely wrong, even with the adjustments you suggested in the review, it would still be completely wrong.
Chase’s head was always very round, the squared off look on all of it just kills his entire vibe and makes him look like a completely different character. I get the need to try and make him fit the generations/chug/legacy/whatever the hell we’re calling it these days aesthetic but this just completely misses the mark. It’s like Kingdom Rhinox all over again, all the features are there but they’re all just wrong somehow.
Additionally, as nice as the visor looks, it’s something he really didn’t use that often in the show, more often then not he simply had his optics exposed, and while the black optics with yellow pupils look wouldn’t fit the aesthetic very well, I do think that he simply could of had full yellow optics instead of the visor, or, his visor could of been more accurate, as his visor sits way lower on his nose rather than on the very top of it as it does here.
I can only hope that if they do more Rescue bots characters, that they are the total opposite of this Chase figure.
I think that the reason for it being so loved by many, me included, might come from it being closer in proportion to the show model and having more articulation than the Super Deformed toys with playskool lvl engineering all RB Chase toys had to settle with for years. Plus, his design and transformation is pretty much a modern reinterpretation of the OG Chase toy with a police deco. Have to agree on the kibble tho, it is so awful that I had to shave the tabs for it to actually be pleasant to transform, and would it have killed the designers to make it fold further in robot mode? They clearly didn’t test this mold at all
As someone who has watched the show and is 15, it is actually reasonably good, not perfect, but good definitely better than what came after it so yeah, keep up the good work👍

Face on Chase is inaccurate but I love the robot mode design, alt mode, and it’s got one of my favorite transformations in a whole
(Also people like rescue bots because it’s not written like a show for children and it’s just approached as an interesting new take on the transformers that happens to be ok for children)
The shoulders on this thing are pain, but to be honest I rather like the look of this guy. I just wish he was better. I love the alt mode, the muscle car police car is always a win for me
Legacy chase is a mediocre figure but his vehicle mode I like since he’s a dodge challenger but a good looking alt mode won’t make a bad figure good.

like sometimes a figure can look kinda bad on store shelves only to turn out nice in hand (windblade, origins wheeljack) but for once i'm glad i trusted my instincts
I fully agree with the things you have said in this video, however I do still really like this figure, I got this a day before Easter, and I was really happy. It’s not perfect, but ever since I got back into the transformers, I have always been curious to see how a modern, fully articulated version of the RB characters would be like.
Plus, RB is quite nostalgic to me.
This is almost a good deluxe but the shoulders throw it off. Maybe it could work a bit better as a different character idk animated lockdown but this mold needs tweaking

@@ciarandaragh8676 Cliffjumper got tortured by Shockwave and turned into Stinger. At the end of the "main story" Arcee Dies right in front of him, reawaking Cliff from the sunken place (decided to take that sorta "crushing" thing from Prime and cranking it up to 11 by just having them be conjunx endura - the Cybertronian equivalent of marriage). Need the Cliffjumper made from Chase as his form for after The story, where he stays on Earth not only to grieve, mourn and move on, but also to "tie up loose ends", meaning finishing up unresolved plotlines (one of wich being the Terrorcon leader and traitorous former autobot Shuffler).

Hey perspective. I have a small question. What legacy figure in deluxe class would you recommend for a newer collector
If i had a quarter on everytime Hasbro has done that type of shoulder I'd have 3 quarters. Which isn't a lot but its weird it happened 3 times.
First with studio series rotb optimus prime, then bm sunstreaker and now this. Its fine for rotb prime mainly cuz its not so much of an hassle to get it to move out (for me at least) but it still sucks they cant have normal shoulders.
I didn't realize how the chest was hollowed out so badly until you spun to the back... how hard would it be to have the wings fold in and fill out that space?
I had the same shoulder issue with jhiaxus but no one said anything, it took a deluxe 2 years later for ppl to realize that that type of shoulder design is awful 😭
I was already not going ti buy this figure but now I’m even hesitant on buying any potential repaints they do. Would have to be a good head and deco on discount for me.

I normally do grab the TFs with police alt modes for my copaganda squad, but the shoulder jointing on this looked iffy to me from the first laeked photos, and your review has backed that impression up and more. For once more taking one for the team, I thank you and my wallet thanks you too.

Rescue Bots had no reason to be as okay as it is, so I'm happy that it at least has a modern figure. It isn't a good figure, but it's great that Hasbro acknowledged it. Now, onto waiting for Studio Series TLK Barricade, which will probably be a new mold if they get around to him.
EDIT: I assume he has no bicep swivels. Looks like Bumblebee Shockwave isn't alone in an articulation standpoint.
EDIT 2: he does have bicep swivels, it's just that the shoulders don't have their own separate swivel. Shockwave's is worse but I still like him.
EDIT 3: THIS COMMENT IS GODDAMN CURSED! I just got SS Concept Art Bumblebee Sunstreaker. He has the same type of arms as Chase.

I got a pro tip to help out when transforming the figure into car mode when it comes to the last step of the transformation. I don’t think it will completely change your mind on said process, but I do think it will ease up for you.
Basically what you want to do is focused on getting on arm into position for the car mode, then when your bringing down the back panel, you want to push it in the direction to avoid bumping into the plastic. Push it forward towards in front the piece with the wheel, then down, then once you get past it, push it backwards as your pushing it in to clip into place.
I know it’s been a while since you might’ve got this figure, but I do hope this info helps as I think it helped me out when I discovered how to do it.
Honestly I kinda liked Rescue Bots. Yes it's kiddy but it's characters were very memorable, especially Heatwave being voiced by Steve freaking Blum. I don't have much of an attachment to Chase really, although he's a slightly more likeable version of strongarm. My little nephew loves this character though so I figured that I would get this figure solely for him. I taught him how to convert it and he loves playing with it alongside his other rescue bot toys

It is mature without being gratuitous, without being overly graphic or horny…no, wait. It’s X-Men. X-Men has always been horny. Ha ha!
Hey PE! I know you usually don't go for the "budget line" toys, but I suggest making an exception for TF1 Prime Changer Alpha Trion, and possibly the rest of the subline. The Optimus looks better than the Studio Series version IMHO. Anyway, I finally got time to fiddle with him after he arrived yesterday, and he's really, really good! Feels at least as nice and solid in the hand as a normal main line TF, minimal paint but well placed to make it count (and it's metallic maroon and silver with a little purple on the chest plate, so bonus points, my brother in Shiny Things Good.)
Ball joint head, shoulders, and hips, swivels above and below the 90° elbow (the latter is effectively wrist swivel, but the whole forearm tuns with the hand) and thigh swivel above the 90° knee, no foot up or down and the heel is more likely to collapse than support a position outside its soft-click end point, but moving it does let you put a foot forward to rest on the "arch"/hinge point for it. Lots of ankle tilt inward for wider stances, which persists on the rear legs in ki-rin mode too. The cape doesn't get in the way of the arms much in its standard position and can be partially untransformed to make more room. Almost every inch of him is solid from all angles, with just a single waffle pocket at the inside of the forearm and the usual double-headed mushroom peg slots in the thighs and forearms, though if you have him in a T-pose he is also hollow inside the shoulder spheres.
The horn is small enough that I wonder how it got through choke testing, and there's no real place to store it but in his hand in robot mode. The tail/lightning sword is held on by a tab in beast mode, trhis tab is also the right size to be gripped in a 5mm hand or port as a lightning gun, and looks passably like the switch on Luke's lightsaber when being wielded that way. Joints are all firm without being too tight, unlike the floppy mess that was the Scourge-remold AT, so that's good.
100% recommend despite being a "budget line" not-quite-Deluxe; this bodes well for the rest of the Prime Changers class from the images so far released.
I was thinking about giving those a try, but they aren't showing up at stores near me yet.
And hey if it's cheaper then I'll be glad to save the money.
As someone who really likes this figure, even i cant defend the head. It is probably the worst aspect visually to me.

Hey, I only watched Rescuebots just to say I marathoned every Transformers show still in English. It's probably the best thing about the Aligned continuity. Certainly better than RiD'15 and it's wasted potential.
Now that I do actually believe. I don't doubt that it's better than Prime or RiD.
I am so glad I am skipping 90% of all Hasbro's crap and getting Korean, Japanese and Chinese robot series instead, where quality, sizes and prices are AMAZING !!!

PerspectiveEnd i have one idea. How about make a roast video about worse designs of transformers. Specifically one from each continuity (g1, armada, beast wars ect.) and after that do the same thing but with the best once. (And movies count as one so from bayvers of 5 movies online one design and from new movies: bumblebee and ROTB too only one) so yeah that the idea.
That is an interesting and fun idea.
I came into Transformers on Rescue Bots, so this figure is deeply special to me. It's not the best, I have my issues with it, but he'll continue to sit on my desk in vehicle mode. Can't wait for the upcoming Heatwave! I will say, the face really let me down, and the shoulders are a pain, but I'm so glad he got the Power Up and Energize accessory, I hope all the other Rescue Bots get theirs too.

Honestly, despite the fact I like the figure, I acknowledge that I like the figure more for looks than I do for play factor.
I’m not fond of the head, personally, and definitely agree that the neck is too short, and I’ve even found myself rotating the waist around, then the thighs just do he’d have more ankle movement, and were it not for the bumper blocking the hip movement I’d say it works great.
Without a single doubt, though, those shoulders and back wings are the most miserable thing about this figure. He is a figure I like looking at, but those simple two things have made him a toy that I just NEVER play with. Those back wings seriously needed to be two parts with one hinging back, and one swiveling up so they can make a V shape and get out of the way. Also, you hit the nail on the head for the transformation, it’s honestly a blast up until those fucking wings come into play and ruin the whole experience. Like, there had to be a better way to do those, right? Surely.
It’s just so infuriating how bad this mold feels to handle since I genuinely love the shape of it, the upcoming Prime Cliffjumper is a great use of it and ai am confident it was the main reason it was made, but they seriously fumbled hard with those two specific parts since this toy is one that I could see a kid breaking from normal play, or worse, getting bored of because it doesn’t feel as good as other figures Hasbro have released. If the only way someone can love a figure is if they don’t interact with it then there’s a fucking flaw, there.

The Shoulders are suffering.
It could have been cool, but it feels like it's suffocating in it's own body.
I just imagine his weird chin is a mouthplate similar to Runamuck's. Don't have a passion for the character or his show. I got him because I find he pairs well with Strongarm.
It's supposed to be more of a lower jaw.

I have the same problem with Legacy Bulkhead's head that you have with this figure's head.

This figure really disapointed me when I first saw this figure I was hyped but then I saw the back and it all went down hill from there. kinda hope the rest of the characters get better treatment.

Ngl he looks like he'd be sold in the rescue bots like like especially that vehicle mode he just looks so cheapish. I hope they don't retool this into barricade he's to cool for that I just hope the studio series like makes the tlk barricade cause that would actually be pretty good and you could customise it into an evergreen design preety easy the moives defined barricade imo. Idk why g1 barricade is used compared to the evergreen look or even the tlk look when they're much more intresting and cooler. I mean tlk barricade has brass knuckles and a baton and a cop pistol he fits the bad cop idea way more then the g1 Design.
It doesn't feel cheap in hand, but yes I hope they don't turn this into barricade. It would be such a waste of that design.
I only bought chase because it was one of the series I grew up with. G1. Prime. And rescue bots. I will not lie though I wasn’t the happiest with his feet being in a forever pivot

The first edition Prime figures were like a weird preview wave for the Prime line, and they were great. All the characters that got first editions got new figures as part of the main Prime line that were worse than their FE counterparts.

I think for the most part I'm satisfied with mine, and I can think of other characters who need the update more badly, but I do get why you want that.

If i am being honest, he's just another cop autobot that's a bit too basic. I guess Hasbro thought Prowl wasn't enough, so we needed another one.
I don't know that I would call this basic. But it's not very fun.
Shame about the shoulders being ass although I still want to pick it up. Also rescue bots is a good show although not sure about academy since that doesnt interests me

And to be clear it's based off an animation error where they accidentally colored Skyfire like Skywarp in the episode Fire on the Mountain.
