The reason for the added reach is mojang taking in consideration the arm reach along with the weapon/tools reach

Another possibility to balance knockback would be to add a "mass" value to items. That way the knockback would be scaleable for every item. For example, an axe would have a higher mass and with that a greater knockback effect, while snowballs with a low mass have much less knockback.

I feel it's right lol. Almost every hypixel player complains about the combat system. All i can understand from old system is that you can spam click.
Well, I hate the new system too, but mostly because combat is even more telegraphed now. Like, the cooldown means people will trade hits one to one, and all that counts is that your interval coincides with your motion.
I never understood the spam click argument of proponents for the new system, because spamming didn't work in the old system either. It was just faster, a bit more hectic and not as telegraphed.
honestly though combat in this new minecraft goes so slow if you have maxed gears, take it from smp earth
I prefer the new one. The old one was like 75% click-to-win. Aka if you had the fastest cps you would most likely win in a 1v1.

Yeah. They seem annoying but not really "OP". Water bucket can be used as a counter, and the KB from the snowballs will give you the chance to fallback and Regen, if the fall dmg doesn't kill you (the height doesn't seem THAT great, and I don't know if it's truly a "permastun")
Thats just my opinion. I havent played MC in a long time so thats just my observations, so I could be wrong until people start to use them more

Making regen and health potions more powerful was exactly the intended result of the hunger rebalance. Health potions are literally completely useless currently in survival because the saturation from eating food is better in pretty much every way.

Totally agree, they were always tedious to use because pots don't stack but the saturation boost completely killed them. I think sat boost needs removing. Not saying that the test hunger is perfect but I do enjoy they are trying to make potions worthwhile.
Yeah, I agree. I've long felt potions in singleplayer are useless outside effects like fire res and water breathing. I'd like to get more use out of brewing, and hunger is a good place to start, I suppose.

It is almost like it offers something which food doesn't and that is the benefit. Regeneration offers a boost to your food regen. Combine the 3 to get to full health quickly when you can't afford to wait or are in bad spots.

12:15 umm, whaat? This to me is the strangest conclusion. Heal pots have been underpowered ever since the saturation boost was added. There was actually almost no point in using them especially in survival. This change is a buff to potions, but calling it overpowered is a big big stretch. A non stackable item that is somewhat challenging to acquire SHOULD be better than eating some steak which you can find around every corner. Otherwise potions are just not worth the hassle.
Also the whole vertical knockback thing is not yet clearly balanced and Jeb has stated in the blog post that it needs reducing. Idk, just thought you should have mentioned that before saying that the community is about to be split in 3. Kind of seems like fear mongering.

@@CardGameAcolyte But potions are already better then eating a whole steak, they give you a damage boost or some other boost. A regeneration effect... or on the spot healing rather then waiting for regen to happen. This huge nerf to food has a huge drawback, which is it throws off the entire game. Fall of a ledge before you got potions? You lose all your hunger and need food in a few minutes or you'll starve and be unable to sprint because this literally kills you.
Making things worse doesn't always make things better... if potions sucked before... they still suck now.
@@Buglin_Burger7878 if you fall off a cliff you should be lucky you're still alive. Minecraft survival is way too easy, because of the fact that if you have a stack of steak, you almost never run out of health. You should have to EARN that ability. In addition, the only pot that gives you a bonus in addition to healing is the regen pot. And in order to get one of those, you have to travel to hell, find a nether fort, and kill the mobs there. At that point, the regen pot deserves to be leagues better than the steak

I think increased knock back to the point of juggling could actually work really well if tuned correctly, since it makes a player vulnerable when they jump to get a critical hit. Before this was something players could do with impunity, but now you have to somehow make sure your opponent is off-guard, or get combo’d

Your solution to slow down time between Snowball throws seems like a good one. Snowballs stay just as fun but not exploitable. Another handy item for a PVP arsenal.

Huh. I actually think I might like the hunger change. It makes food more useful, and it means you don't have to keep your hunger bar constantly topped up in casual play. And potions really needed a buff, even an indirect one, since now they might actually be useful to make in singleplayer. I usually never bothered.
exactly current state of potions pre snapshot is a joke unless its a utility potion. health potions were literally useless
It’s gonna make stuff like nether fortresses and end cities exponentially more difficult to navigate. I mean maybe it will give the regeneration potion more use in casual play and pvp but it’s just so much less convenient (non -stackable, resource intensive material). Constantly messing around with hotbar/inventory slots for quick regen does not a fun pvp experience make.
Then again I’m mostly in the ‘revert to 1.8 with a few small changes’ camp so what do I know.

I think the hunger/health thing was added with the knockback in mind as you can knock players back with the snowballs so that you eat and regain the health that takes longer.
Why would you be upset about health potions actually being useful? They've never been useful as long as you had golden apples. And it's way harder to make health potions than it is to make golden apples or cooked porkchop/steak. You don't need to go to the nether at all to make those. Although I do agree that each half haunch should equal one full heart, the current 1:1 ratio burns through food really quick.
Less important gripe: You say closer to the beginning that the high ground is no longer entirely viable, but I would argue that the high ground was never entirely viable. Sure you can get critical hits easier, but when you have the low ground you can reach the bottom of their hitbox when they can't reach your hitbox at all, so you can just wallop on them when the best they can get is a single critical hit. Learned that one from an old Survival Games tutorial and it really makes a huge difference, especially when you and your opponent are swimming in water.

In BotW, the heavy weapon type gets a powerful continuous spin attack. Perhaps axes could get a special attack (probably not a continuous spin attack though) that allows them to deal even greater damage, such as a charge attack. You charge up an extra large swing, and hit for massive damage.
Having the low ground has _always_ been advantageous in Minecraft, since your reach comes from eye height, so having to aim down means you have less reach.

I think the unlisted/added reach, must be your "Arm" reach, the rest of the reach as written is simply added to that. (hence the 3.5 actually reaching 4.75, meaning the added 1.25 must be arm reach).

I think the hunger changes are much overdue, I was always so upset with how painfully useless Regen and health potions were, and the fact that your health stopped regenerating so quickly after eating. I think the balance is fantastic
I agree, I think the idea with one to one hunger regen is very clean and step in the right direction. Introduces a clearer cost for taking damage. There is a lot of potential for food improvement there too.
You see this is the reason for netherite so that the knockback resistance is higher making it a bigger reason to get this armour so during a pvp battle you will have another way of getting the upper (or technically not being upper) hand.
I like that the hunger bar regenerates health until it's way further down now. I've often run into this weird issue where my health was low, my hunger bar was full, but I barely got any regen and needed to wait for the bar to finally go down so I could eat again and regen faster. I hope that won't happen anymore with the new system, because that was just frustrating.
Idk, I kinda like the food change. No one really uses instant health, also making regen way slower and less will make survival much harder which I totally agree with. If it makes the survival game harder then I am all for it.
