Rainbow Bridge reopens Thursday evening after explosion at Canada-U.S. border

- The Rainbow Bridge border crossing in Niagara Falls has reopened following a car crash and explosion on the American side of the border that killed two people.
U.S. Customs tweeted just after 6:30 p.m. on Thursday that the Rainbow Bridge has now reopened to traffic.
Security footage of the crash shows a car in New York State travelling at an extremely high rate of speed before hitting a median and going airborne.
The car then collided with a border control booth and burst into flames, injuring the person inside the booth and killing both occupants of the car.
Initially, there were concerns the crash was terror related but the F.B.I. confirmed in a statement that they found no connection to terrorism or explosive material at the scene.
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul said there was “no indication of a terrorist attack” in the vehicle crash and explosion.
The pair who died are believed to be husband and wife.
Niagara Falls Mayor Jim Diodati says the Rainbow Bridge may reopen this weekend.

@Gingerblaze it was a Bentley almost no lithium in it. And lithium fires usually aren't explosive unless something contains the fire and builds pressure till explosion, water can cause it to explode as well under certain conditions
I hope the family of the deceased aren’t watching this. Like they didn’t even matter in the news story.

Kudos to this news station that allows comments. I call it bravery, because it's the insistence on expounding the virtues of journalism. I implore people to seriously only consider trusting news sources that allow comments.
I am absolutely NOT saying to take any story as true per se. But an open dialouge with real news channels is what we need so much more.
What's really crazy is the CBC is primarily taxpayer funded, and still they don't allow comments. That's totally undemocratic and shouldn't be acceptable to Canadians.
I don’t know how much of this story I believe. What I’ve leaned in the past few years, is that if the news is continuously repeating Themselves, trying to convince us one way or the other - I’m certainly going to question the Legitimacy of what they’re telling us.

This channel is the local news station on the Canadian side of the border, closest to Niagara Falls. Plenty of national and world news stations are talking about Dublin. You’re not looking too hard if you can’t find coverage.

No, it’s just how they investigate these things. They act under the assumption it’s terrorism (the “worst case senario” for border agents) out of an abundance of safety. Any news outlets reporting anything otherwise were wrong and spreading misinformation.
