@@moonbeam3010 I hate spoilers, I just a few nights ago ruined a somewhat big spoiler for Mistborn - The Bands of Mourning. I wanted to know some information about a certain character and stupid me didn't realize that a huge revelation would be right there at the top of their bio. I ruined a huge revelation in Oathbringer too a few months ago. I tried to pretend I didn't know it but it was still there in the back of my mind saying, "who you trying to fool? You know what's coming" XD
They say Kevan never had a thought that Tywin dint have first, such an oof monent for poor Kevan. Maybe Gerion was right all along by fucking off to esos to become Indiana Jones.
Aaaaand there goes the last competent guy in the cersei regime Edit: something I forgot to mention was Randyll Tarly’s numerous attempts to discredit Jon Connington and Aegon (likely to delay action against him) is an indication that he may be a turncloak. Also Randyll Tarly was right there when Harys Swyft said the iron throne was broke so he probably doesn’t want to stay on that sinking ship
The iron throne is broke, but not the lannister, highgarden...etc No one would like to pay for the iron throne but they still going to pay their own swords.
@@dookieshoe2905 the Reach is big and clumsy, The Tyrells can count on the Hightower since Mace is married to the daughter of the lord of hightower, also the Redwynes and their fleet because the lord is married to Mace's sister and he is the nephew of Olenna Mace's mother. Maybe the lord of Rowan since he is married to a Redwyne.
It’s so funny to me watching Varys try to convince Kevan (and maybe himself) that he isn’t like the rest of the lords of Westeros and how he’s “for the realm” when in actuality, he’s just as bad and even worse. His actions will lead to a destabilized realm and even more bloodshed of the innocent and he’s trying to justify it without acknowledging the blood on his hands. That’s without even taking into account how many people he had killed with his whispers during the Mad King’s reign. I hate hypocrites.
“For the realm.” Is a phrase used by Cersei, and Goffrey in a speech or two. Some others. I snicker a little because every time someone says something like “he SAVED the REALM”. No he saved your sorry skins, not the realm. Lol
He's actively posing and enjoying the performance. He has recreated the death of rhaeghars children and enjoys drawing this out for Kevan when his theoretical goal would have been achieved much more simply. Varys isn't a good guy and any characterisation from the show should be actively ignored.
Disagree. I don't think he's trying to justify the blood on his hands by lying to himself.. I think he just doesn't care and legit believes he's doing this to make the world a better place and restart and re crown the Targ family.
@@coldhands2802I doubt even that. If he was truly for the Targaryens, why would he feed The Mad King’s paranoia? Not to mention him being the likely one who poisoned Aerys against Rhaegar…
@@ireallyneedtherapy1126 Paraphrasing "Wagging the dog": if a spy cannot find traitors, then what good is he? And then Aerys might just consider him useless at best and a traitor himself at worst.
Characters have been complaining how the Tower of the Hand has too many steps, and now Mace intends to rebuild the tower twice as high. Perhaps he should invest in an elevator
They kinda played this scene, it was just between Quburn and Pycelle. Even part of the dialog is the same. Even without Aegon, I think they could still have found a way to play this out. It always annoyed me that they watered down Ser Kevan so much in the show and also the way he was killed (I think most of the characters that died in the Sept deserved better, but it was a great end to the Sparrow arch)
@@michaelrasmussen6318 I see it as a pale imitation. They started cherry picking cool moments from the books and gave it to other characters because they cut so much. So it doesn't make much sense in the end.
It seems like. Varys & co are on the side of ‘good’ and Littlefinger is on the other. Perhaps. The woods are full of beasts. The dragons. The krakens. The three-eyed crow. Singers’ stew in the north and in the south. The she wolf in the Vale. The night wolf in Bravos. Stoneheart. And the Wall. The Wall. The Wall most of all. And Winter and the Night that never ends.
And his comment about Kevan being a good man in service to a bad cause is so spot on. Tywin did so many terrible things, and he just followed along doing whatever his brother told him to do without a word of protest. In truth, when I think of Kevan's little speech to Tyrion about how Tywin does these things because he has to and is really this great, just man, it almost seems like he's trying to convince himself as much as Tyrion. He just didn't want to accept that the brother he couldn't stop caring for was a monster.
@@queenesther09 Kevan is an embodiment of Tywin fandom. They always praise Tywin for whatever he did, even victim blame those who died from Tywin's war crimes.
@@nont18411pretty much. Its a shame because Kevan himself is a pretty decent guy who is sadly loves his family too much to see that his own brother was a monster.
I love it how everybody dismisses Cercei's concerns about the Tyrells encroaching on the Lannisters' influence at court, and after she's driven to extremeties in an attempt to oppose it and is condemned for it... Kevan immediately starts worrying about the Tyrells, SHOCKINGLY, encroaching on the Lannisters' influence at court. Reminds me, how, in the show, Tywin dissmisses Joffrey's concerns about Daenerys and compeltely dominates the foolish little brat like the badass he is... and then, after Joffrey is dead, Tywin's first order of business is "we need to deal with the Targaryen girl". I can picture Joffrey's ghost screaming "Oh, do we now?! I thought the curiosities on the other end of the world don't concern us!!!".
well i think as in all things mediation is key and the tyrells couldve been powerful allies with tyrion or tywin in the game. but they were def aiming to win. kevan was too lax and cersei too hostile, driving them away. also her fuck ups are a huge factor in their advances of power
@@jacobbarre3618Of course. But it's still funny. Especially with the show ending in mind - it makes Joffrey and Robert the most prudent and forthcoming people in the world! They alone understood the danger, but the world was blind to their warnings and paid the price for it. Deep stuff.
Well, this is the end of a two year journey for me. Imma go into cryogenic sleep to wait for winds of winter fellas. It was fun, and your audiobook is probably one of the best asoiaf related things ever. Farewell.
I can't believe it's over now. I listened trough all of the books in 6 months. Time to listen to all the analysis and fan theories now. Also I can't believe I had not heard of this book series until SIX MONTHS AGO? This was GOLD.
[ Her fire is quenched, she who USED TO BURN so bright. "You have not asked about your brother," he said (...) Cersei lifted her chin, her green eyes SHINING in the candlelight. "Jaime?" ] Cersei's fire is not quenched, oh no... its underground, and it WILL erupt...
Despite he being a neutral character, he still followed Tywin Lannister's orders of plundering the Riverlands and putting the smallfolk to the sword. That's why he will not have my full sympathy. And he also didn't make any attempts to protect Tyrion during that mummer's farce of a trial or voice any disgust over the Red Wedding. At the end of the day, he's still a Lannister just like Merrett Frey was a Frey. It's like what Lord Manderly said, "Had he lived, he would have grown to be a Frey". If you can't have any sympathy for poor, gullible Merrett for the crime of being a Frey, you shouldn't feel any sympathy for Kevan Lannister either.
I feel a little sympathy for both Kevan and Merret but I also think you’re right. The world is full of Kevans, I think: guys who are nice enough, even tempered, keep their heads down and do what they’re told, don’t speak up for themselves or their own beliefs. On their own they may not amount to much but all the worst regimes in history wouldn’t have been able to commit their crimes without the help of many Kevans.
That story can be spun any way though. House Lannister was attacked in the eyes of the westermen and a byproduct of Tyrions' abduction was war. In war you defeat your enemies, scorched earth, chevauchees, plundering are all methods to reduce the effectiveness of your enemy and strengthen your own forces. The Starks/Northmen are guilty of a lot of war crimes in the riverlands too. You do what you gotta do to win, honor is restraint in a total war scenario.
@@ethanragbir8311 Except, you are only looking one inch ahead of you with this logic... Tywin's evil works are about to explode on Jaime as Tywin breaking guest right (did you forget?) has bankrupted the social credit of the Lannisters: all of their words are exactly worthless now, resolution is impossible, and rebellion is inevitable. The North and Riverlands and Dorne are now all out for Lannister blood, and the Faith only became an enemy because Tywin's excessive violence laid the foundation for it - so Tywin has not secured his legacy, but fractured its future stability. The Starks did not break something understood as a fundamental right between families. Tywin did, and it is already eroding his legacy of 💩.
@@我主也 Are you really coming at me with "bad logic". You're saying that the Red Wedding was a terrible tragedy that forever changed the Lannisters and Frey's? Are you familiar with the Rains of Castamere? lmfao. House Lannisters biggest "social credit" in Westeros is Gold, and ruthlessly destroying your enemies. Robb Stark was an oath breaking, self serving, war criminal who facilitated the fall of the North and rise of House Bolton who by the way, earned their reputation through brutal torture and execution (did you forget?). Tywin's Legacy was fractured from the beginning, his only daughter is a Baratheon, his eldest son Kingsguard, and his last son a stunted dwarf who he resents. Dorne has always worked against House Lannister, the Red wedding didn't change that. The Riverlands Rebellion was put down by Jamie and the Frey's lol. If you want to unironically say that Stannis + the North are a legitimate threat to the Iron Throne (They're not lol). THAT also wasn't a product of the Red Wedding. Tywin won the war of the five kings. Your argument that the Red Wedding besmirched the reputations of Houses Bolton, Lannister, Frey and is the cause of facilitating the cause of future rebellions is also dumb because there already were rebellions in progress (that the red wedding effectively ended) and the reputation of House Lannister and Bolton were already dreaded. Tywin was one of the most feared men in the country, because of the sack of kingslanding and the Reyne/Tarbeck rebellion. You think people didn't take his word seriously? haha.
Varys is full of it. When he visits Eddard in his cell he talks about how the great lords never think about the small folk in their game of thrones. Yet he was talking to a man who actively hides his royal bloded nephew for love, while Varys himself is putting his own nephew in the line of fire just because, for resentment and a twisted form of love.
So....its finally over I mean I never imagined I would finish these gigantic books until I found your channel......thanks dude....and keep other stuff comming...
"I should have given him guards" poor Kevin, varys pulling out the ultimate sigma move. Honestly though Kevin was just doing too good of a job re-establishing the name of House Lannister he was becoming an actual threat a side character who gets his first POV and gets killed, worst part is when he gets shot with the crossbow he thinks "no this is how my brother died"🤣💀
What makes me sad is how unaware he remains to the end of how twisted up inside his niece is. That woman isn't just foolish, vain and greedy, she is truly evil, and that doesn't just manifest overnight. There was something ugly in Cersei long before this, something that Tywin unknowingly fed until it became a monster, and I don't think marriage to Rhaegar rather than Robert would have changed that.
@@jacobbarre3618 Yes, but he never understood just how dangerous she is, or he never would have let her leave Baelor's Sept. But now she's out and the last restraint on her is gone... there's nothing to stop her from plummeting into complete madness now, and everyone in that city will be in serious danger.
Impossible, Tywin would have asked Pyssel to come to him, unless you mean him dying in his room by Varys then yes, also I don't think Varus will kill Tywin, for me I think Varys truly wish for the good of the people and thus peace if Tywin was there the Tyrells won't be as bold and Tywin would take care of things with more efficiency which mean the least problematic, an would have crushed the golden company if they dare to invade without Daenerys, but Varys knew there will be no peace when Tommen in the iron throne while Kevan couldn't contain the Tyrells, and with the problems caused by Cersei.
@@IngTomT Exactly. "Oh no Tyrion, you must not do this, it's folly.... 234 rungs up the ladder, 1st corridor on the left 4th door south... Please don't do it" lol
Kevan was the perfect mixture of Ned Stark and Tywin Lannister: clever, decisive, sensible, modest, decent. He understood human nature and genuinely cared for the people and his family. I'm so sorry he's dead.😭😭😭 RIP legend 💙
@@jamescr101Aegon II and Robert. Though I am a fan of both, I do not think that made them good kings. The point still holds some value, king should want to be one, but not at the cost of everything and every, but for something good. Viserys sold his mother's crown to feed Daenerys. Ironically he has some qualities of a good king. Crown must be seen as what it is, not to get hold of and hold on at every cost.
It took me a long time to actually commit to reading the books, and your videos made it possible for me to read them during my daily routine (gym, driving, etc.) and finish them within a year! Your consistency and attention to detail made these characters really come alive in my head. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading these for everyone’s enjoyment. The fact that you didn’t get paid to do this and you did this just for the love you have for this incredible series is honestly amazing. Keep up the great work man, can’t wait to come back when Winds of Winter comes out (hopefully).
I just realised how Varys whole speech about Aegon being the perfect king is absolutely delusional, growing up with common folk doesnt make you a good king, it sounds similiar to Dunk and Egg but its a farce Griff still knows hes the heir and prince, Egg was so far down the line he was irrelavant, this Aegon has shown nothing of how he deals with ruling, he grew up codled and only shown what was needed. Varys speech applied to Jon much more, Jon grew up as a lord with the stain of bastardy making it sure he would never be one, he became a leader because of what he was not because of his birthright, and he has trained and fought and bled as much as any man to defend the realm. Fake or real Aegon is still a mummers dragon, because eerything about him was arefuly constructed.
Jon snow is also privileged, we see this in book 1, I don't know why this fandom is so deluded about him, GRRM loves playing tropes and subverting them Jon is the chosen one trope
I have to say Varys is one of my favourite characters. And David... Thank you so much for reading the whole series thus far. You did a superb job... especially with the different voices. Bravo. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I’ve always been on board with the theory that Young Griff isn’t truly Aegon Targaryen, but in fact a Blackfire, but upon listening to this I can’t help but wonder why would Varys lie about it to someone he was just about to kill...
This is how i feel about the question of whether Varys is truly some sort of populist utilitarian whose main motivation is protecting the smallfolk! It seems pretty genuine here
I know Littlefinger tells Sansa lying is especially important when nobody else is around (I'm paraphrasing.) So it could be he is being cautious. It also might be that Illyrio Mopatis doesn't know Young Griff is a pretender, and Varys is keeping up the charade because his little birds are there and he doesn't want them spilling the beans. But I think it's far more interesting if Varys is telling Kevan the truth.
I had this thought as well-- but remember his little birds are listening to the entire conversation. (Hiding behind various furniture with daggers in hand.) They might have theirs tongues cut out but you know Varys is gonna be hella meticulous about covering his tracks
@@DavidReadsASoIaF if he wanted to protect the smalfolk he could have helped tommen, who has a potential for a very good and kind hearted king. Instead he chose war
I like the little character arc Kevan goes through in Feast and Dance. He finally gets the reslove to step away from Tywin's shadow, confront Cersei and Jaime and, ultimately, become Tommen's regent and try to stabilize the realm...only to be murdered by Varys in a way that mocks him for his failiures. Such a fantastic cliffhanger.
You claim to not be a professional voice actor, but you clearly have a gift of voices, ser. I am on my second re-listening of your videos and it amazes me still that you can pivot to one voice and then another. You have gained another faithful follower with your golden voice!
David sir, Amazing journey you gave me, took me like 8 months to complete this series. You’re the best. I’ll be waiting for our next journey, hopefully soon :)
As of today 12/14/22 I just finished listening to all of the GOT books(so far). Thank you David, I've enjoyed the hell out of them. I appreciate all the effort you've put into them, from the different voices, to the songs and the kitties purrs. May whoever dislikes your videos be cursed by the sevens!
Finally finished. Upsets me that they didn't adapt a majority of the 4th and 5th books. I just hope we at least get Winds of Winter within the next 2 years.
I really hope so man. Winds of Winter is going to be insane, I can’t wait to see the aftermath of Jon’s attack and what will happen with Stannis at Winterfell
Amazing read. I see some characters in a completely different perspective now based on your interpretations, intonations and emphasis’. Every chapter and character - Brilliant! Excellent writing and your awesome reading. My favorite voice of yours? Even though he has but few lines, Patchface. In my reads I always thought, what a droll fool. He’s not funny at all, just weird. When you read his quotes I am laughing out loud, every line. Dolorous Ed too, but your voice interpretation was similar to what I imagined.
Cersei is gonna go even more off the rails after she hears about Kevan’s death! I have a feeling Tommen’s reign is going to come to a swift end. Looks like my wait for TWOW has begun
I have a feeling none of the Great Houses will survive the coming books, so far the Starks, Tullys, Arryns, Lannisters are either fallen or on their way to fall, and Greyjoy, Tyrrell, and Martell are hanging by threads.
Fantastic work, DavidReadsASoIaF! Your voice work brought me so into the story that it was sometimes difficult to believe you're only one man, as opposed to a full cast and crew. And you didn't just read the story, you made so many great creative decisions that added to an already great experience. Haven't had this much fun with a book series in a while, maybe ever. So, thanks so much for sharing your arduous work with the world!
I have purchased the official audiobook for several of these books but if I want to listen to ASOIAF I now come here instead. Thank you Claudio and David
Thank you for making the past two months of work so enjoyable! I got through the books so quickly but I had to make these last chapters last! I really appreciate your time, commitment, and love for the series!
Leading up to this I kept seeing comments people were leaving about how it was their second/third listen-through of the series, and I really didn't get it. Now that I'm here at the end, I want to listen to it all over again lol. I understand you all now 😭 Thank you again for your wonderful reading of this series, what a gift! I mean that both in regards to your talent in creating such high quality content, and for the amazing audiobook we all got to enjoy for free.
I haven't committed on your channel before I don't think, but David I just want to truly thank you for helping through some hard times. You've got real talent. Thank you again cos that was great to experience GRRM story in your vision. Thank you Sir.
I really like Kevan, I wish Tyrion could have interacted with him when Tywin wasn't around. After listening to his opinion of Cersei, I bet Kevan would have actually treated him well. even an unlanded knight like Kevan would need support staff like an accountant, Tyrion could have fostered with him at Lannisport and been his quartermaster (don't chop him in half!) or customs agent (like little finger was) or something along those lines.
I'd like Kevan better if he wasn't so enslaved to Tywin that he pretty much does and thinks nothing but what his brother wants him to and makes excuses for his cruelty, which really serves no purpose other than to feed his overgrown ambition and self superiority.
Funny thing is Kevan probably would have made the best leader of the Seven Kingdoms. More sensible than Cersie or the mad king, more compromising than Stanis or Ned, nor as cruel as Tywin or Tyrion. Just someone mild mannered who would have made sure everything was fine.
if given the reigns directly after tywin possibly, the tyrells are too dug in by the time he returns and his kindness would of been exploited to the fullest and atp hes in no position to resist in any meaningful capacity
Thank you so much for this masterpiece of an audio book. (All 5 of them) I have read the books before but needed a re read but just didn't have the time. Then I stumbled upon this and got through them on all my long drives. Looking forward to more of you work and the next asoiaf when the eventually come out
Thank you. Excellent work. The voices really brought the story to life. How sad that Mr Martin seemingly preferred Comicon appearances and adulation to finishing what he started. I guess we are stuck with the halfhearted, unsatisfying HBO version. Sigh.
we'll get winds soon. but i dont have high hopes for dream of spring. maybe hes got some ghost writers lined up. most authors have co-authored books before with people who know how to keep the tone consistant
Bravo!!! I have been quietly enjoying your readings of asoiaf since the beginning of this pandemic. It has been what I look forward to most during these crazy times. You're amazingly talented and I just wanted to say I really appreciate what you do. Thank you!
David - thank you so much for entertaining me with your reading these past 6 months. I thoroughly enjoyed this 🙏🏾🙂 I’m a Zimbabwean and forever grateful for your efforts in reading this. Everything from the different voices - (the American Southern voices and especially Brienne’s “mob boss” voice was my favorite). You really did George’s work justice and as always the books far exceed any screen adaptations. ❤😂 there is so much more depth and richness to the world of “A Song of Ice and Fire” and you’ve done an amazing job at showcasing that. It feels like a dad or older brother reading bedtime stories 🤣🤣🤣 You’ve done brilliantly Ser. Please do the other books if they ever see the light of day 😂😂🤣 Till then I’ll be listening to your other stuff. You’re the ABSOLUTE best and I am so glad I stumbled across your channel - your channel is LITERALLY MY FAVORITE CHANNEL on UA-cam hands down. You’re a real one Ser! ❤️🇿🇼🐐
This is my second listen of the asoiaf audiobooks, and yours is my favorite version. Thank you for reading this series for us all David. I still remember how this epilogue took me completely unaware when Varys showed back up after being MIA since he released Tyrion. I can't wait for the Winds of Winter, and maybe we'll hear you read that for us as well.
Great job on finishing the main stories from A Song of Ice and Fire! I know there more novels in the series to read, but I want to congratulate you on a job well done. I appreciate your excellent voice acting and all the little touches you added a throughout the series! Hopefully one day you'll be able to finish, when the remaining novels are completed. Is there any other book series you'd want to do in the meantime??
Thanks so much David!! These have been amazing & really brought the books to life (sorry I’m a little late to the party!) :) I’ll miss KevLan but hoping for more chapters like this in TWOW. I live for the petty politics of Kings Landing 👏
I do believe in the Blackfyre theory about Young Griff and also Varys too. I think he would have possibly lied here because he knows that there are spies eveywhere in The Red Keep and he wanted whoever may have been listening to think that Aegon VI was legit
At first I was surprised to hear the Tyrells sound like southern hillbillies turned nouveau-riche,but, when you think about it, that's exactly what they are😜. It fits perfectly! 😆 Thnx David❤️
Thanks again for your work. One of these decades we might get the next one. You've done an incredible job on the narration. I thoroughly enjoyed them all!
Just wanted to say thank you for this! You've done an outstanding job with every character, every book...esp every raven! So many repeating lines that you drilled home through pure emotion...great job and again, thank you!
THANKS DAVID. I'm from Brazil, Manaus. I started to learn english because of you and your videos. Im sorry for the bad writing though... i have a huge huge road to go... but im grateful to you for help me to begin
Thanks a bunch for reading all those "ASOIAF" chapters for us, mr. David and Claudio 👍👍!! Looking forward to hearing you again with "The Winds of Winter"! PS 1: Many fellow "ASOIAF" fans feel sorry for Kevan Lannister and claim he didn't deserve this end. Not me. While Kevan was indeed a decent enough Lannister, I haven't forgotten several instances when I wished him slain (e.g. when he shouted down the knight who denounced Joffrey after the battle of the Blackwater, or when he had Tommen sign the attainders against Edmure and Brynden), chief among them when he confirmed Tywin's order to burn my beloved Riverlands!! Chiefly though, Tytos' 2nd boy was always his big brother's unwavering right hand and thus shared some of the blame for the latter's many crimes (notably the aforementioned razing of the Riverlands). Thus, I'd say his dying by a crossbow was indeed fitting and even just, although... PS 2:.. Varys deserves to be slain many times more!! Always going about the good of the realm, while the massive hypocrite has had his own faction and secret schemes all along! He even admitted to effective ruler Kevan that he killed him to sow chaos in the kingdom, all to Young Griff's benefit! I'm of those who believe the Spider to be a Blackfyre sympathizer! I hope Tyrion brings him down in the future!!!
Thank you for this. You’ve made this essential piece of art accessible for people like me who often cant keep track of who is speaking or what exactly is happening. George might have created a masterpiece but you and people like you have completed it. The thought you must have put into how you portray all of these characters shows how much you respect the books and that is very inspiring for me. Your talent for voice acting is also admirable. You should be proud of yourself. And ur cat is very cute
Thank you for your efforts david. The highlights for me have got to be your first rendition of the bear and the echos in your voice from one of Jamie's chapters.
Are you planning to read fire and blood next? Or maybe the Tales of Dunk and Egg, or perhaps you'll wait until TWOW comes out. Anyway even if this is your last video, you've came a long way and you deserve some rest. All hail king David
I’m gonna do a combo of Dunk and Egg and the Winds preview chapters, starting soon. Recording the main series has been a big, multi year project for me and I’m gonna take a few days to bask in completion. I’m honestly just not a fan of Fire and Blood, so I probably won’t record that. I’m thinking now about other series and novels that might be fun to do once I’m done with all that.
"Only the blood of the dragon would know the secrets of the red keep" according to Maegor. Why do you think Varys shaves all of the hair on his body? He's a secret Blackfyre and so is his fake Aegon. The wizard casted his parts into the fire because he had kings blood.
Now that we have spend a book inside Cersei's head, I find her more disturbing than ever when she is interacting with other characters. There's no way to tell what she will do next.
Man thanks so much for this series.. can't believe I'm at the end. Your the reason I finally 'read' all the books. Read the first two years ago but got lazy. Amazing voices, I love the personality you bring to so many characters, superb work. p.s. Kevan Lannister voice was among your best. The sound, tone and similarity w tywin, two of your best voices. One of my favorite scenes you bring to life w your voice work is Kevan and Jamie's conversation after tywins death. You feel the affection he has for his brother. To bring affection and tywin into the same conversation is a testament to your work. Cheers
I love all your different voices throughout the story overall. Of course I like some better than others but no one can get it perfect with so many hundreds of different voices. That said I always felt that Varys would probably revert to his true voice in this moment. Its pretty much the only time he is completely honest in the whole series so far so I always pictured him, at some moment during this scene, dropping his "Varys the Spider" character that Kevan recognizes and switching to his true self. Though I don't know what that would actually sound like tbh. I imagine it would be an accent of the free city he came of age in with his old friend Illyrio, whatever that sounds like. I know, that is a weird critique. Its hard to please everyone with an undertaking of this magnitude and you've done an incredible job. Thank you for providing such a great alternative to official narrations. I've been recommending your channel to anyone I talk to about asoiaf. Hopefully you will be able to do Winds of Winter before we all perish from old age, waiting on George. I've always felt sorry for all the die hard fans that passed away without being able to read Winds. I wonder how many letters and emails George has gotten from dying fans that want to know what happens with their favorite character or what exactly the Heart of Winter is or what's really hidden in the crypts of Winterfell. Lol
Thank you so much David. You have provided me with some of the best media ever for free and I really appreciate it you have made those little tasks and errands a bit more enjoyable.
And now my watch through has ended🫡Thank you so much for these videos. I listened to them on trips and my walks. I gained a new appreciation for GOT/ASOIAF. You did such a great job and I really appreciate it! And now my wait for TWOW begins
Finally caught up on ASoIaF.... I am now a true fan, and will commence complaining that the show was rushed, and that George R R Martin should be rushing to finish the books!
"Farewell my brave hobbits. My work is now finish. Here at last, on the shores of the Sea comes the end of our fellowship. I will not say: do not weep; for not all tears are an evil." Thank you so much for bringing literally thousands of characters to life, and make me (someone who read the books in spanish first and didnt get so many things on the first run, and now with all the knowledge possible in theories and deeper meanings) understand greatly and enjoy so much more the books. If TWOW is ever released, i'll be back here if or when you read every chapter our loud. I won't be the only one, be sure of that. But for now, we wait. Much love ❤
Thanks for listening, everybody!
you did a phenomenal job! are you going to do the TWOW pre-release chapters?
Thank you for the awesome reads.

Thank you for your time... this has been an experience
Thank you, my sun and stars :)

A decade? Oh, my sweet summer child, how optimistic you are….
The good old days when the wall was falling and we only had to wait for ridicioulus two years, But this is hard.
this book gon be able to fucking vote by the time winds of winter comes out
Stannis is perennially marching Winterfell...
Truly diabolical
It's crazy how I never got spoiled about Kevan's death. He was doing such a good job fixing Cersei's shit that Varys had to act lmao
Imagine getting killed because you're good at your job!
R.I.P Kevan Lannister, you lived as you died, in the Shadow of your Brother.

My favorite line is when Varys say "far away" in response to Kevin's question about Tyrion. It's really ominous and just shows how much he knows
Aaaaand there goes the last competent guy in the cersei regime
Edit: something I forgot to mention was Randyll Tarly’s numerous attempts to discredit Jon Connington and Aegon (likely to delay action against him) is an indication that he may be a turncloak. Also Randyll Tarly was right there when Harys Swyft said the iron throne was broke so he probably doesn’t want to stay on that sinking ship
Randyll is a man of honor not a turncloack. But he was a hard Targs supporter.
"Friends in the Reach"
The iron throne is broke, but not the lannister, highgarden...etc
No one would like to pay for the iron throne but they still going to pay their own swords.
@@dookieshoe2905 the Reach is big and clumsy,
The Tyrells can count on the Hightower since Mace is married to the daughter of the lord of hightower, also the Redwynes and their fleet because the lord is married to Mace's sister and he is the nephew of Olenna Mace's mother. Maybe the lord of Rowan since he is married to a Redwyne.
“Friends in the reach”

New GoT spinoff show: 3 seasons of Mace Tyrell climbung up the tower of the hand.
This chapter is gold... and is another huge moment the show just entirely discarded. I mean why? This would have been another huge TV moment
It would’ve been amazing I agree. When they cut the Aegon storyline this was inevitable, without aegon Varys has no reason to kill Kevan

Deep stuff.

You think people didn't take his word seriously? haha.
Tyrion is worse
Like he can’t even get his own originally inspired death it’s an exact copy of Tywin even in death he’s in his brother shadow 😂😅
All of the epilogues are first time pov characters that die.
@@queenesther09eh he might not have realized her true nature but he was well aware of all her delusions and venomous nature

One of my favorite chapters in the series. I think Tywin would of met a similar fate if he had lived past book 3

@@sal6695 definitely. although I doubt he'd ever want a crown 🙂
@notdeadjustyet8136 more often than not that exact quality is what makes a good king in the first place
That's makes Robb's decision to name Jon his heir the wisest thing he ever made in his reign.
Jon snow is also privileged, we see this in book 1, I don't know why this fandom is so deluded about him, GRRM loves playing tropes and subverting them Jon is the chosen one trope
Ironically varys might have killed Jon the man most suitable to lead the realm in what's to come
I have to say Varys is one of my favourite characters.
Could also be as simply as George didn’t want to ruin the surprise.

It's the funny thing with Tywin and his siblings, all of them treated Tyrion well and saw how useful he could be.

Amazing job on the series, I hope one day to listen to you reading the winds of winter, and maybe a dream of spring
Great job David, I really enjoyed listening to your voice(s)! Thank you ever so much! ❤️
Thank you so much for sharing all of these :)
I'm so grateful for your hard work and talent David. Thank you for these readings and I look forward to replaying them all very soon!
Kevan was Tywin 2.0. Tywin gone spelled the end of House Lannister, Kevan gone too... there's no hope.
I thank you for this beutifull journey David. It was beutifull work. Let us hope the wait for Winds will not be long.
@@DavidReadsASoIaF you mentioned the dark tower once...
Damn Varys is batman, how does he always appear undetected. Anyway I’m rooting for aegon. Poor kevan though.
For this Great Series. You are truly talented and I hope you are rightfully proud of yourself.
I will not say: do not weep; for not all tears are an evil."
Thank you so much for bringing literally thousands of characters to life, and make me (someone who read the books in spanish first and didnt get so many things on the first run, and now with all the knowledge possible in theories and deeper meanings) understand greatly and enjoy so much more the books. If TWOW is ever released, i'll be back here if or when you read every chapter our loud. I won't be the only one, be sure of that. But for now, we wait. Much love ❤
