The age-old adage reminds us, “A good king should be able to meander amongst
his subjects unarmed and unguarded.” But let's be real: history is littered with
tales of leaders who, shall we say, 'overestimated' their popularity with the
people.
Take JFK, for instance. He tragically discovered convertibles and public parades
don't mix. Then there's the Vatican's approach where Popes are ferried around
in bulletproof cases to prevent any ‘divine intervention’.
A cartoon Pope in a bulletproof bubble, blissfully unaware of small
characters (resembling Tom and Jerry) unsuccessfully trying to break the
Remember King Louis XVI of France? His grand carriage drawn by six horses
was enough for revolutionaries to sniff out his not-so-sneaky getaway. [1]
And oh, the drama that unfolded when Archduke Franz Ferdinand missed his
turning and tried to back down the road, only to discover his assassin chilling at
a café nearby, munching on a sandwich, and loading a gun.
Fast forward to our era of Instagram influencers and Twitterati, where
revealing a celeb's brunch spot can cause an uproar. Hollywood A-listers are
practically joined at the hip with their bodyguards. Even your average food
delivery guy won’t hand over your lunchtime burrito until you reveal a secret
code.
How on earth did Adolf Hitler waltz into France, claim it as his playground, and
parade down the boulevards of Paris without so much as a scratch?
The man had more assassination plots against him than series of Game of
Thrones!
It’s time to learn how history works as we run down the play-by-play of how
Hitler visited Paris without getting assassinated.

“Russia’s impending betrayal of Germany” - don’t you mean the converse?
Yea, Germany betrayed Russia and Russia got its revenge
Well, you're both not fully right.
Yes, Germany planned Barbarossa for a while, and Stalin was trying to make Germany as happy as he could and play the good guy, but it's no secret that Stalin knew Russia's military prowess needed a couple of years to be fully prepared. He had plans to invade, but wanted to do it on his own terms, and that is later. You should also keep in mind the Molotov-Ribentropp pact which enabled Russia and Germany to destroy multiple countries in process that wanted nothing to do with it (and still consider it a dark period in their histories). The tide started to turn to Russia's favour only after some time when Russia got up to literally deploying rougly 7 million soldiers and when Lend-Lease came into full effect. Now, Hitler had a choice - wait a couple of years and lose the upper hand or punch first and possibly win. It's not like Hitler was that far away from a win if you'd be judging from a perspective of 1942
Okay I thought I misheard it lol
2:12 Calling those people rigid and lifeless is an understatement. Dude needed a shrink already.
“The drama that unfolded” referring to WWI is quite a take
An advertising friendly one
Franz Ferdinand visited Sarajevo in 1914, yada yada yada, germany had to deal with hyperinflation in the 1920s
Um... The Nazi betrayed Russia, not the other way around.
so THATS who was in Paris
The heavy use of AI-generated images is really annoying...
I don't think so. Ultra real, high quality images are good for this kind of humor
7:28 that’s a Soviet tank destroyer
Russias impending betrayal of Germany?
3:44 The Nazi Symbol is "Hooked Cross" not a "Swastik", A "Swastik" hold very deep positive meaning to us Hindus
You know who else was in Paris?
I love this channel so much, please don't give up on it!
The mein kampf lion king moment was TOO MUCH lmfao no, why
Because Scar in The Lion King was partially based off of evil fascist leaders like Hitler
Charles de ghoul!
Dude. it can be just as easily said that the Japanese started WW2 in 1937 when they invaded China.
The SS was the NSDAP's armed wing and, more importantly, Hitler's own bodyguards. They replaced the SA that was initially the NSDAP's paramilitary wing. The SS was formed out of some SA grunts initially that were assigned to protect Hitler and be under his control. The SA was loyal to the party, was meant to protect it and attack its enemies and had a designated leader by the party while the SS was meant to protect Hitler and eliminate HIS enemies and it was loyal to Hitler who was their leader. The Gestapo was a "secret police" of Nazi Germany. They were different even though they might have appeared similar. The Gestapo did more investigation and counterintelligence and the SS did more of the shooting and strong arming.
The Ardennes was a brilliant move. Things didn't go that smooth but it worked. Hitler had his moments although there was a capable general that made the plan, Erich von Manstein.
Hey how money/history works guy, really respect your work, cheers!
Damn this could be a Sniper Elite DLC.
Is Google really listening to us
I think the script was trying too hard to "appeal to the kids". What's with theses silly comparisons to tiktok and influencers?
honestly, that makes a lot of sense. Not only to appeal, but as a way to make stuff more palatable for everyone.
Nice one
Who was in paris?
Why does everybody keep asking this?
@@HowHistoryWorks It's a reference to a song made by Jay-Z and Kanye West called "Ni**as in Paris."
No way he killed him self
15:03 Russias betrayal of Germany?
(6 letter word) in paris
I think he was too cowardly to pull the trigger at the end and lived the rest of his days in Argentina. That body they found in the bunker could have been anyone.
The sandwich story about the assassination of the ArchDuke is false. Dude was not eating a sandwich (not really a type of food they would be eating anyway).
At the moment of the visit there wss not yet any "Resistance"
Did you literally just say that Adolf Hitler was essentially a controversial UA-camr?
Yes
I like How Money Works as it manages to untangle a lot of complicated relations that are counterintuitive to the way we think about money. 10/10. But this one I find it a little to biased for a history channel. Even though I appreciate the humor I'm one of those people that think history should be talked about in a dry, stick to the hard cold facts and hold judgement manner. Not with sarcasm and snarky remarks. It devalues the content and informations given. 5/10
You didn't spin your narrative and demonize adolph hitler.
Good video, but it's totally impossible to include everything in under 15 minutes.
No mention of Hitler's F'd up childhood.
Only cursory mention of Hitler's experiences in WW1 on the Western Front.
The mustache marked A.H. as a veteran, that style was the end result of trimming a mustache to fit a gasmask properly.
Rohm headed the SA, the extreme para-military left wing of the National Socialist party. The Reichswehr (German army) hated the guy. Purging Rohm and his faction bought the acceptance of the military "old guard". They'd hoped they could work with A.H. harnessing his influence and gain some control over him They thought wrong, his new bodyguard unit, the SS would eventually grow to become everything they hated about the SA and more.
For a history channel, the pronunciation of non English words here is terrible!
I don't know if you can call this a history channel, he called Hitler "essentially an edgy UA-camr"
Germany betrayed Russia, not the other way round
Mf explained the holocaust to Gen z's somehow
First
this video is soaking in bias, are you okay?
This one felt like a lot of fluff and almost no actual facts. Also the Trump comparison is overused and silly
So with the comparison of Hitler and Trump, is it the official position of How X Works that Trump is modern Hitler?
That was my impression as well.
Why people are so wound up over who spends 4 or 8 years in the White House, but not decades in the House or Senate is beyond me. It's like they just need someone to hate.
It seems like that's kind of what he was implying
@@tetedur377 4 years can suddenly turn into a lifetime if you're not careful who you let in there. The Weimar Republic was pretty democratic and liberal too... before it suddenly wasn't.
@@tetedur377 because every so often, someone wants to spend decades in the White House
@@soccerdrew17Yeah like Democrats in general. They're by far the most power hungry & biggest danger to our nations future & prosperity.
Why you think theyre trying so hard to destroy Trump? Because he threatens their power/control & socialism. And he's already rich so he can't be controlled
This video is against your style: unnecessarily long
So basically Donald Trump
Umm you do realize that ALL US presidents use the same vehicles don't you? Reality trips up your bigotry and ignorance yet again. Hilarious
🤡
@@jerrymiller9039 its January 6th, brother. Really makes you think dunn'it?
