In the eyes of Hitler's infamous secretary, Traudl Junge (Alexandra Maria Lara, The Reader), optimism crumbles into grim realization and terror as it becomes clear that Germany's defeat is inevitable. As the Russian army circles the city, the dimly lit halls of the underground refuge become an execution chamber for the Führer and his closest advisors.

@@Adolfhitler-oe5ko You're wrong. Eckart was a poeter and a writer, though he is the maestro of All Hitler's ideology.
Nice one !
Yes that is a good one. The art school of Vienna rejected him for not being enough talented. I`ve seen a few of his aquarelles, found them not that bad though.
@Iván Moreno For worse....
My favourite moment of this masterful performance is the way his twitching, shaking hand removes his glasses from his face - all that pent up rage literally boiling over into his hands at that moment, and portrayed so naturally. Genius
You stole the words from my hands
His shaking hand wasn't a result of his anger, Adolf Hitler suffered from Parkinsons Disease.
It was a combination of Parkinson's and severe drug addiction to methamphetamines that Hitler had.
bruno ganz once in an interview told after shooting the film he had some serious issue to stop the shaking of his hand cause it became so normally for his brain
Agreed, it's a phenomanal performance. However, as mentioned in other comments, the constant twitching was actually caused by medical issues aswell as heavy substance abuse. Hitler not only suffered from early on-set parkinsons but also made the mistake of self-medicating himselve by using large amounts of Methamphetamine (which was essentially treated like we treat coffein these days; and you could get it at pretty much every single existing store back than). High doses of Meth almost completely stopped the symptoms of Parkinsons for quite a while but eventually, combined with the constant stress and fear caused by the war, his dopamine-receptors snapped and he became extremely irratic, impulsive and was no longer able to rest his hand.

It's Burgdorf, he killed himself after berlin garrison surrender to the soviet
Dino Jones Hitler’s generals and staff could get away with cheek like that if Hitler respected them. In particular Guderian was highly critical of Hitler but wasn’t punished because Hitler respected guderian too much
People still don't know what really happened to Hitler after war
I can't take this scene seriously thanks to all the memes
Agreed. There's humour in the original scene without all the dumb memes. The irony of Hitler's Hubris and denial in spite of his obvious defeat. It's known as "Dramatic Irony". It's a tragic humour, but it's still a comedy of sorts. The memes just assume that the source material is deadly serious, and derive their humour from ireverrant parody. The memes derive their comedy from parodying the scene, but without the underlying intentional dark humour of the original scene, the memes wouldn't be funny.
Latest: Hitler reacts to Mourinho's sacking!

People keep stating how this was inaccurate because in real life the memoirs of the generals stated the rant went on for 30 minutes. You all DO realize a scene like that could NEVER carry on for 30 minutes in a movie. That's literally a huge chunk of the movie spent in 1 room with no progression to the film whatsoever. Sometimes brevity is better than accuracy.
I would think that the 30 minute “real” version of this speech would have a lot of insane ramblings, and the generals looking at each other like “what the fuck is he talking about?”
@@shawnharris5682 that as well
For historic purposes, an accurate re-enactment of the 30 minutes original rant would have been really interesting though. But you are right, as a scene in a movie it couldn't work.

Very true, never thought of that before.
It also illustrates a point. When Hitler was told that Steiner refused to attack due to having only a few trained soldiers and hundreds of civilians given guns and told to fight at his disposal, I imagine it was as silent as the grave. Quiet enough to hear a pin drop. That tension was felt in each person in that room as they watched Hitler process that information, wondering how bad this was going to get.

Hands down. This performance by Bruno Ganz was brilliant. One of the greatest performances I've seen in my life.
What a movie, superb acting and historically more accurate than most others. Bruno Ganz is sublime.
A moments silence for the Germans and German speakers who never got to enjoy this meme in its full glory :)

Bruno Ganz, the guy who plays Hitler, just passed away :( RIP. He played his part phenomenally in this film. German-language cinema lost one of its greats today.
I had never heard of him before watching this movie. Sad to hear that he died.

Sein Tod ist ein großer Verlust für uns alle..solch gute Schauspieler werden immer mehr zu einer Seltenheit in der deutschen Filmindustrie.
The parodys are still going in honor of bruno ganz
He absolutely nailed it. It truly felt like I was watching actual Adolf Hitler. I doubt anyone will ever top that portrayal.
Agreed. His acting always had a strong presence. He never fails to amaze his audience. Gone too young.

As a German-speaking Austrian interested in World War II, I have to say that Bruno Ganz as Adolf Hitler is delivering the brilliant acting performance of his life. It's unbelievable how he reproduces Hitler's way of speaking. The multilingual (German, English, French and Italian) Bruno Ganz was mainly an excellent theater actor who also played in film
-Hope you aren't interested in arts-
There's other language in Austria? Also Hitler is austrian, so is all yours country fault

I don't know how it is in Austria, but most of the Polish sign language native speakers aren't good at the Polish grammar, because sign languages are grammatically similar to each other and not oral languages.
If the education system works properly and every deaf person in Austria know German, than you're right. Let me know if you know something about it.
