Jason, I just now finished my first ever PC build - Ryzen 7800x3D and 4090 included - and your guides on the order picking process, building setup, and this post build setup were crucial for getting me through everything. Thank you, I couldn't have done it without you, much appreciation for all your hard work!
Rebar / SAM works for some 5000 series GPUs as well! Works for my Sapphire Pulse 5700xt with a notable increase in performance. Also, undervolting is pretty easy to do for AMD cpus that have PBO2. Set my 5800X3D to a -20 volt curve and it runs about 1% faster, but more importantly 10% cooler. No stability issues so far. Well worth trying out.
I followed this video step by step on everything. This was my first pc build and first time ever doing anything like this before. Everything came up smooth and my pc runs great. Thank you for all your help and the great information in this video.
Thank you SO MUCH, Jason! 1 question, I've read through the comments and no one else asked. Do I extract both Windows media and Bios in the same USB drive? That would make life simpler. Thank you in advance for the answer! Much love to you, your channel and Mr. Bear!
Hey I was wondering the same so glad you asked. Yet I have a follow up question as when I attempted to extract the zipped bios folder contents to the drive that was created from running the media creation tool the file explorer threw a warning that two files had mathcing names giving me the option to replace an already existing file made by the media creation tool (cant quite remember the filename, think it was boot). The MOBO model is gigabyte b650 aorus elite ax. Should this even be a problem? If yes, should one replace target files or try to keep both files but rename one of them somehow, or should one use one USB drive for BIOS and one for windows? Appreciate any help :D
@@mehmoh7828just extract the bios into its folder. the bios file does not have to be in the root folder (at least for my asrock it being in a folder was fine). you cant really break anything, worst thing that can happen is that the computer does not find your file.
I’m so upset that I didn’t find this channel years ago when I got into PCs. Your videos are just as long/short as all the other big name channels but you somehow manage to cover 10x as much you’re FAR more thorough at explanations, and you dont convolute the information making it much easier to understand the important stuff. Thanks yet again!
Fair play that's a nice approach to setting up a pc for a beginner 😊 I think you explained each topic well and nice to have the varieties covered of different components and manufacturers. I can add a recommendation to fan control is the software apley called "fancontrol". Justified by being able to do multiple fan curves for individual components. Also the ability to control the fans from the gpu not just the cpu. Also use the hottest component to ramp up the fans ❤
Dude, I have no clue why is this video have a little of likes. As a system administrator I can proove that your advices is 100% accurate and easy to understand for avarage user.
Thank you so much Jason for a thorough guide on how to set a PC up! I finished assembling my build on the weekend and followed these instructions immediately after. For a 1st time build it went really smooth following the detailed steps and help links you provided. I am really happy with this new hobby and look forward to seeing your updates in the future over the current market environment for PC builds.
First time pc builder here and been a macOS user the last 14 years. THANK YOU for actually showing detailed step by step process. I knew nothing about anything pc related, but after watching this video a couple of times I don’t feel as scared to fk up my soon to be new pc
This is an amazing video, really thorough and easy to understand. Massive thanks for it. I do have a question related to the NVidia drivers though, is there a meaningful performance difference in gaming/productivity workloads with either one of the driver sets installed? I wanna use my new pc for both and am unsure whether I should install the "game ready" drivers or the "studio drivers". Knowing if gaming performance suffers a lot with the studio drivers (or vice-versa) would be a great help.
Very informative, great personality. From picking the parts, to building and setting up the PC, your videos walked me through it. I just want to say thank you so much Jason, you are a life saver.

This video has been an absolutely fantastic resource. One note, on my Asus Strix Z690-A Gaming Wifi D4 mobo: after Windows install from USB, I came to a halt because I needed to download and install the LAN/Wi-Fi drivers before I could connect to the internet. I used the same USB drive and 2nd PC to download and then install on the new machine. After that was back on track updating windows. Hopefully this helps if someone hits the same hiccup. Great video and amazing resource as always Jason! Just wrapping up my first build ever!!
the tip with ramping up the CPU cooler first was a really good one! for some reason i had all my fans (cpu + case fans) all on the same curve, i changed it now and put the CPU one to ramp up a lot sooner, has helped with temps and noise levels a lot!
I've seen a lot of video's like this and most are decent but have unneeded bloat of some kind or have no order or structure for a sequence of events that someone that has zero experience needs. Its fine to say "do this this this and this" but still confusing and can intimidate you more when you don't have a clue. This video has pretty much no bloat and it gives you a sequence and an order that makes sense and confidence that you set your rig up right. Great job!
@PCBuilderChannel Just finished my first build. Literally last night and it works! Your parts list for a $1700 mid range and this video. Only difficulty was windows 11 said my new computer with a Ryzen 5 7600 and RTX 4070ti didn't meet minimum system specs and wouldn't install!? So I wasted money on a win11 pro key. So made a new win10 usb and its up and running. Though for some reason my Gigabyte motherboad is stopping at boot and I have to press N before windows loads up. No idea how to fix that. Thanks for what you do! Between the parts and the software recomendations and how to's I would have never even attempted it.
Dude you're seriously awesome, I was having problems with ram overclocking, i could enable the xmp profile i wanted but it didnt actually change when i entered my pc and verified. Turns out all I had to do was disable CSM in my bios and voila, my ram speed finally reflected my xmp profile. 😊❤ You're THE BEST.
Jason you can mark off another one, I completed my first build with your help. I brought my windows key through your link too. I followed everything you said and only issue I had was the first boot up, MSI board needed bios update, I was confused at first but you mentioned this may happen. Thank you Jason your information was very helpful and I'm extremely happy 😁
Great video, some of us will use it as a reference 😊. Also if your bios has a letter after the number, it’s a beater bios so keep checking back until there is one with just numbers.
Thanks! Honestly I've never really looked at the naming scheme for bios versions between companies. Gigabyte often uses a letter after to denote a slightly newer build of a previous bios (typically minor bug fixes) without changing the number. But you can always double check the bios notes on the website page.
I just bought R5 7600X cooled with 135mm be quiet dark rock 4... I took 2x16GB @ 5600Mhz and boy am I happy, currently cpu is paired with RTX 3060 12GB, I am about to wait for a year for 4070ti to drop prices, and then switch to Ada Lovelace. And I will never need another computer again. I am to old for this SH%@!! Nice job Jason, very detailed and meticulous at the same time.

Great video. My daughter has been having crashing issues with her PC that we built. I am going to do a factory reset in everything and follow this guide tonight when I get home from work
Nice guide. I did recently experience an issue with an ASUS motherboard. After updating the BIOS the M.2 was no longer detected. Of course, I shutdown the system and verified it did not somehow "wiggle" loose. After some research, I discovered the BIOS Update had disabled CSM (Compatibility Support Mode). After enabling CSM, the drive was detected again. Thought I would share this just in case anyone else experiences this issue.
This is giving me flash backs of frustration when I couldn’t get a display in bios. For whatever reason it wouldn’t display on my monitor but I tried my tv and got right in
You set me on a path to really figuring out the PBO and also undervolting. Man it took me a day of research but it was worth it. Cpu runs cooler but actually performs better. Insane. Everyone should look into it. Once you figure out the process it's easy.
1992, I built my first 'high end' desktop computer. It was pretty easy to put together. But, then the configuration was horrible. It took hours. IRQ, interrupts if I remember. Lots of tiny configurations that are just 'built in' now. BUT, I get a lot of good information from this cat guy. :) Thank you!!!! My cats are more aggressive than your feline. They usually demand constant interaction.

I usually build a new PC every 8 years so I have to do all the research all over again each time. Your vids helped me get my new PC all bought and setup a lot faster than my previous builds. Much love, mate!
Your videos are so detailed. Can't wait to give you the update on my PC on the next BMB. This really helped me with updating the BIOS. You explain things so easily and perfectly. Thank you, Jason.
Thank you Joeker! Looking forward to hearing about your upgrade!
Oh I love this tutorial. I'm doing most of these things but it's nice to have a complete list with step by step instructions.
So glad its helpful!!
Much needed thank you Jason! I'm just about to build another gaming PC for my second kid to play Fortnite with us for our UA-cam channel, and everytime I get to this point I get nervous and pass it off to best buy to finish. This third build I will use this video to finish It myself!
You got this!!
Best wishes on the build (:
Holy cow I've had my PC for 3 years and not done anything like this. Wow! I was always scared to mess around with my bios but after you explained it, I had no issues!
I literally just got all my parts this is perfect
Great timing! Check out our How to Build your PC video too if that's helpful
@@PCBuilderChannel already planned ahah i also used one of your builds that uses the intel arc a750 gpu. Love the channel
Just built my first Pc following all your videos on UA-cam. I have been watching them for 6-8 months, and I have learned so much from you. I also got good deals following your advice. Just wanted to come here and say Thank you. 😁
Thank you for letting us know! It really means a lot to me. Congrats on your build! Show off a build pic if you like on twitter / threads @pcbuilderjason
Thanks for all of your hard work and knowledge in bringing us great content!
I appreciate that thank you! Hope you enjoy today's video!
Jason, I just now finished my first ever PC build - Ryzen 7800x3D and 4090 included - and your guides on the order picking process, building setup, and this post build setup were crucial for getting me through everything. Thank you, I couldn't have done it without you, much appreciation for all your hard work!
That's amazing, congratulations on your first build! And what a combo! You're so welcome, thanks so much for tuning in :) Glad that worked out.
Ehat ig my computer sais it ran in to problem
I followed this video step by step on everything. This was my first pc build and first time ever doing anything like this before. Everything came up smooth and my pc runs great. Thank you for all your help and the great information in this video.
That's awesome! Congrats on your first build and so glad we could help! Thanks for letting us know it means a lot
Thank you SO MUCH, Jason! 1 question, I've read through the comments and no one else asked. Do I extract both Windows media and Bios in the same USB drive? That would make life simpler. Thank you in advance for the answer! Much love to you, your channel and Mr. Bear!
Yes same drive! So glad you enjoyed the video and Mr Bear says hello!
Thanks for the awesome feedback! It means a lot
That's fantastic! Congrats on your build and so happy we could help! Show off a build pic on twitter/threads if you like @pcbuilderjason
It's ok to have the BIOS and windows on the same drive? Or should they be on separate USB drives?
Yes same drive
@@PCBuilderChannel Thanks i appreciate it
First time pc builder here and been a macOS user the last 14 years. THANK YOU for actually showing detailed step by step process. I knew nothing about anything pc related, but after watching this video a couple of times I don’t feel as scared to fk up my soon to be new pc
So glad its helpful! You got this (:
This is an amazing video, really thorough and easy to understand. Massive thanks for it.
I do have a question related to the NVidia drivers though, is there a meaningful performance difference in gaming/productivity workloads with either one of the driver sets installed?
I wanna use my new pc for both and am unsure whether I should install the "game ready" drivers or the "studio drivers". Knowing if gaming performance suffers a lot with the studio drivers (or vice-versa) would be a great help.
Same question, what option did you go for?
Very informative, great personality. From picking the parts, to building and setting up the PC, your videos walked me through it.
I just want to say thank you so much Jason, you are a life saver.
Why thank you so much! Glad you're finding the channel so helpful :) Thanks for tuning in!

Literally just placed an order for the second-last piece of my build (GPU), just waiting on the 7800X3D release now. This video couldn't be more perfectly timed!
haha no joke I swear! Mr. Bear wouldn't let us (;
And that's exciting!
Thank you and thanks for sharing!
the tip with ramping up the CPU cooler first was a really good one! for some reason i had all my fans (cpu + case fans) all on the same curve, i changed it now and put the CPU one to ramp up a lot sooner, has helped with temps and noise levels a lot!
Glad we were able to help! Thank you for watching!
SO good! Thanks for this video. I haven't built a system in maybe 15 years and so much has changed.
Happy to help! I actually started the channel when I came back to PC Building after a break and wishes there was a channel to catch me up
I've seen a lot of video's like this and most are decent but have unneeded bloat of some kind or have no order or structure for a sequence of events that someone that has zero experience needs. Its fine to say "do this this this and this" but still confusing and can intimidate you more when you don't have a clue. This video has pretty much no bloat and it gives you a sequence and an order that makes sense and confidence that you set your rig up right. Great job!
Much appreciated, thanks for the feedback! Glad you found this one so clear and helpful.
Thank you for this amazing work! You saved me quite some time, and most importantly, saved me quite some nerves! Every video is pure gold.
Thank you, that's very much appreciated! So glad you've found it all so helpful.
Just built my first PC and am wrapping up the bench marking now! This video (and the previous) were super helpful!! Thank you!

Just finished my first ever PC build, and after following all your videos, it's running butter smooth appreciate you Jason
This is amazing, congratulations on your first build! Way to go. So glad to help.
This has been one of the most helpful pages for me on my journey to build a Gaming PC. Thank you for all your work.
You're so welcome, glad you found this one so helpful! Thanks for watching :D
Yay, glad it all worked out!! Happy to help! Thanks so much for watching :)
Love to hear this, congratulations on your first build!! If you build it, it will run :) Hope you feel proud. Thanks so much for tuning in!
Thank you! And thanks for sharing
Thanks for all the very helpful videos!!!! I was able to purchase, put together and optimize a great gaming rig with your help and now all that’s left it to wait for my games to download and install 😁
Amazing! Congrats on your new rig and so glad we could help!
Came and watched your video just to go through your link. You’ve been a godsend helping build a pc and bought from the link as a thank you.

I was so skeptical of this because of the date it was posted on, but this is amazing. Will definitely refer to this the next time I upgrade my system. Trying to remember every step is hard. Thank you thank you.
I know! We debated if we should post it on April 1st but didn't want to miss our constant Saturday upload schedule lol.

thank you so much for all the help in pricing out, building and setting up a great computer. I watched your videos for the last 6 months and from the day i pulled the trigger on purchases it only took me about 2 weeks to have a fully built computer with very high resolution and frame rate.

The app literally called "Fan Control" is super good. Absolute insane amount of customizability, and still a clean UI.
Would not have been able to do my first build without you! Thanks!
Love to hear it, so glad we could help. And congrats on your first build!
Great video man. I have built many pc's but the last time I have put a pc together was 7 years ago a 4790k and 980ti system and I have been saving for a while for my next pc. Finally got most of my parts together, just waiting for the 7800x3d chips to come out and I can put it all together. I have no experience with the new stuff especially with the AMD motherboards and bios settings. Nervous enough as it is and the first thing I have to do is use q flash to flash my Gigabyte bios, just hope nothing goes wrong. This guide is very helpful and makes be feel a bit more confident with the whole process, thanks man.😀
How did you make out? also I just recently bought a 7800 x3d how are you liking it so far? I am going to pair mine with an rx 7900 xtx
@@freak8615 Everything is running great mate. Just make sure to check the bios version of the motherboard and make sure you update it if its on an older version. The newer bios takes care of the voltage problems which were burning the cpu's and also help with ram compatibility. I think you will be very happy with cpu and the 7900xtx is an awesome card. Good luck mate, hope all goes well for you.
great job man with your videos i bought the best parts and build my 1st PC in my life :3 keep on doing what you doing your videos gives alooot of knowledge i didn`t know anything about pc parts and with you i learn alot : )
Thank you so much for the amazing feedback! Really appreciate it!
Thanks! This was the best source, out of the many i tried, that walked through the after build/post procedures.
Thanks so much for the awesome feedback! That's great to hear
I am SO happy I found you! Thanks to a video from a TikTok creator who provided a "$800 PC build " video, I was able to get the basics of what I needed to build - and surprise surprise as I went further into my research I realized I didn't want that low of a budget as a first time builder who wants their PC to last a long a$$ time. Your channel helped me make final decisions on major parts of the PC and figure out what's best to be paired with all the parts I'm using. I almost made SEVERAL bad purchases thatd be hard to rectify by return/exchanges when all I want is this process to be as of a breeze as possible for the first time builder in me !! Not only are you informative without making the viewer feel inferior for not knowing things (a handful of people have given me a bad taste in my mouth because I felt that wa) and answer questions past what I thought I needed answered, but your enthusiasm and l personality are infectious in the BEST way! Your videos are always a treat to watch!
You and @JayzTwoCents are my top two favorite PC/techie creators on YT 💓💓

I really wish I found a video like this 4.5 years ago...
Im building a new PC tonight, but watching this made me check current setup BIOS. I left so many things disabled, not getting my full RAM speed, no PBO... Wow! 😅

I wish I'd seen this before I tried to get into bios with a Bluetooth keyboard. 😮💨
I've just finished my new PC & other than installing windows & drivers, I didn't know what settings to change & where they are.
Your videos have helped me so much, I hope you keep making more, because I think I might have found a new hobby 😁

New builder here, when you update the bios, make sure you pick the correct revision. If you are not sure what revision you need look at the bottom left of your mother left of the screw. Hope that helps. Thanks for these amazing videos man. You’ve helped me build my first computer and I’m very grateful for your videos!
Love to hear that, so happy we could help! Congrats on the build. :)
This is such a perfect timed upload. I'm waiting for my PC parts to arrive and I wasn't so sure what I should do after I built it. Thanks. 👍

A big thanks for this. It was really informative. I've been using PC's since Trash 80 days. But over the last 15 years, I have been concentrating on Database (Oracle), so my PC hardware knowledge hasn't kept up. This was just what I needed since I'm putting together my first PC in about 8 years (I used to build all of mine - get just below the max and stay with it). Love the Cat.

This video really helped make setting up my new build really easy but there is one thing missing that I watched on Jays2cents channel that was also really helpful. The wifi wasn't working while I was installing windows(had to update a driver after install was done) but in order to complete the install without internet I used the command prompt "oobe\bypassnro" which Jay mentioned in his video.
Thanks for the great tips! 🙌

Interesting! Thanks for sharing
for asrock motherboard fan curve, you can adjust it easily in their A-tuning app
This is giving me flash backs of frustration when I couldn’t get a display in bios. For whatever reason it wouldn’t display on my monitor but I tried my tv and got right in
That's the worst!
This is exactly what I was waiting and hoping for! Thank you.
So glad it was helpful! This one took longer than expected (so much b roll to capture) but we're thrilled to have it out
You set me on a path to really figuring out the PBO and also undervolting.
