I had a D6 2h model, almost identical, got it for free, i just had to move it. it had a blade and a BG hydraulic system that operated off the rear PTO shaft, I pushed plenty of dirt with it. powerful little machine, a lot smaller than a modern D6. I sold my machine on an eBay auction to a Canadian guy that owned a large contracting company. James Dick construction, I don’t know what he planned for it, It may have been for yard art. that sucker had a brand new undercarriage on it, you could still read caterpillar on the track pads.
I see a lot of similarities between this 35 and Dad's 1936 RD6 we farmed with until the mid 1960's. The "bark" under load is so characteristic and you could just about count the explosions when lugged down. Thanks for the trip down memory lane for this "old farm boy"!
@@npalen my dream Caterpillar is an RD-6 with PTO attachment. Dad thinks I'm half-nuts, but it sure would've saved our hides picking corn this last fall. So much mud...
The RD-6 has a bigger engine, the 624 ci D6600, vs 519 ci for the Diesel Thirty-Five and Diesel Forty with a D6100. Worth quite a bit on the drawbar, the RD-6 making 50.4 hp and the Diesel Thirty-Five 39.3. hp (per Nebraska tests). Same basic engine design, but the RD-6 has a 5-3/4-in. bore vs 5-1/4-in for the Diesel Thrity-Five. Some modernization/evolution too but I don't know all the details.
Nice old cat. Sounding good. Thanks for posting.

Hi Bruce, a local farmer I know says he chats with you now and then, Tom Shuffenecker? Just did some work for him. Gary
Is there much difference between a 35 and an RD-6?
