    I can't believe you're renovating your second house for the year and I've lived in mine since March and haven't done a thing!

    Your house looks like our house. Bought for $189,000. Needs a hell of a lot of work. Replacing the stumps before we do much else so it’s level.
    It gets a bit overwhelming looking at everything there is to do. Subscribed to check out how you go with it all.

    I just start looking Queenslander. I saw people rise their house, covert a single storey house to double storey home. Compare with build a new house, the cost still cheaper? Any other reasons to keep a 100 years old house? I have no experience about renovation, hardly to make decisions to buy an old house.

    • @lukewiles1
      @lukewiles1  3 роки тому +2

      We plan on doing just this to our Queenslander down the track! It depends on your investment strategy if you want to renovate and flip or hold the asset. The old houses (pre war) are all protected up here in QLD so you can't knock them down. It's pretty common to lift or extend these houses to turn into 4/5 bedroom + 3 bath. This isn't cheap though, you might be looking at $200k+ to do this with a builder

    • @maxibon204
      @maxibon204 2 роки тому +1

      @@lukewiles1 $200K is a very low estimate for lifting and renovating a Queenslander to the standard you mentioned of 5 Bed/3 Bath. A far more realistic sum for that is much closer to $500k, especially with current increased building costs.

      @@maxibon204 You're right! Best to get multiple quotes from reputable builders to confirm pricing

      @@maxibon204 a friend of mine just lifted their queenslander in tarragindi (3,1,2) in Feburary 2021 and turned it into a (5,3,2). quote was $350,000 (just lift, and building internal areas). quote didn't include landscaping and they decided to also do the internal finishes on their own to save cost.
