Missed by who? Film actors are no more than glorified liars. John Wayne was one of the greats ,when stars were stars.I grew up watching The Duke and have no doubt seen every one of his movies hundreds of times and i still enjoy them every time.
Richard Boone was SUCH a WONDERFUL man, and a great actor!!!! It was wonderful of him in this video to say that Duke stood-up for what he believed. Boone never did that publicly, nor did many actors who agreed with Duke because they were afraid it would hurt their careers!!! Tom Selleck hasn't had the career he should have had because he let it be known that he was a conservative!!!!!
I am 53 years old when I was young John Wayne with my hero I remember when I was watching TV and they said John Wayne had passed away my heart was broken they don't make actors like John Wayne anymore
yes, Lee Marvin was a Private First Class in The United States Marine Corps and served as a Scout Sniper wounded on Saipan and nearly died. recovered after getting shot in the BUTTOCKS!
I never got to know my real father but when I was a young boy in the 70s I always thought the John Wayne was my father through the TV set I remember crying my eyes out at 14 years old in 1979 when he passed away rest in peace John Wayne
Years ago in many Asian countries, I saw only portraits of John Wayne and Elvis. JW was in good company and he was a hero not just to us, but the World! I salute you JW, your presence lives on.
some people give it their all,all the actors that worked with MR WAYNE,MR BOONE,MR MARVIN,in those days were class acts, they are immortal,on the screen, and nothing or no one can take away their legacy,GIANTS
It's been so long since anyone knows how to make movies anymore -- that I almost forget what a "real movie" is -- much less a 'good' movie unless I rent or watch movies before the 2000s: The 2000s to the present -movies or otherwise- is so incredibly inept, talentless, vile, and washed up, that it's unfathomoable...
John Wayne was the epitome of the western genre as he appeared to all afficandos of him and his films. The man did not "pass away" he simply "died" like the rest of us mortals. He is well remembered for entertaining the many. I have many favourite films of his among my collection which still get a viewing.
Richard Boone died in 1980 when he was only 61 years old which amazed me as I thought he was much older! He made a movie with Robert Mitchum in London in the mid-1970's and the two tough guys had to have a shoot out at the end of the movie. Michael Winner was the directer and he told how the two guys turned up to shoot the scene so drunk that they could barely walk or talk. But the scene had to be shot that day and it ended up with Mitchum and Boone staggering around the road shooting in every direction and only avoiding being hit by passing cars by pure luck. But Winner who direction Charles Bronson is several movies, described Micthum and Boone as two of the nicest guys you could ever hope to meet, whether drunk or sober. it's nearly always the case, bad guys on screen and gentlemen in real life.
Mark Harrison you are a piece of shit constantly writing about celebrities like you hate everyone and make shit up to. Try to be a tough guy on your posts when you just live in your parents basement being a keyboard warrior. Get a life and a job
@James Henderson he served his country.....he did not refuse to serve , he couldn't due to an injury. Research before making stupid comments. They're are other ways to serve your country.
Big John was a real one ,cowboy, man idealist, star and decent man, I sincerely hope that he is at the right hand of God until then I sincerely hope that he rests in peace
@Vickie OGLESBY good grief,it's getting to the point this is getting out of hand and getting reduclous. The fans are getting ripped off,it's like they stripping us of the best programs and movies while they throw down our throats the garbage.if this is the truth we have to go out and get dvds. Unfortunately this is unfair to the innocent people who did nothing wrong at all and are paying for it the terrible people if you can call them people cause this and get away with it all the time .I hope they are happy with themselves now.i feel bad about this .a few years back I had bought the complete series of have gun will travel on dvd and if it's the case of what is happening on UA-cam with it I'm glad I did.i hope something can be done to resolve this problem the losers who caused this problem in the first place ,it's not fair to let the fans of have gun will travel, hec Ramsey, medic or any of boone's other movies to suffer like this.you may be right boone's family could had become upset over all of this was happening ,and I wouldn't blame them if they had.i had a feeling in the end his family would be hurt with what the idiotic people had said about him and knew that there could be a backlash and it may had finally happen .I hope the dummies who caused this is real happy now ,because us fans who are innocent may be getting stripped of all of the shows or movies that boone ever made.
Gregory Peck a great Liberal......standing and applauding John Wayne a great Conservative......despite their political differences, they respected each other as actors and as people....this country needs more of that....and less of the "I hate you cuz you disagree with me" B S !
+Cave Lion does that include the ones who set their kid in front of a TV or a computer so it can act as a babysitter or substitute parent? then wait till they're old enough to stick in some kinda school to get somebody else to raise them
@slim slim.....lol....neither one of them had to "call themselves that".. because they were both well known, outspoken, and politically active members of both the Democratic and Republican Parties.......of course you're too stupid to know that.... which is why you can't comprehend their great public example. You're just too stupid. Just too stupid.
The two sides were never as far apart as they are today. Plus people respected each other better then. Social media and the interwebs seems to have destroyed basic respect.
How about Boone as the heavy in "Hombre (w/Paul Newman) and in "Big Jake?" Awesome. And Lee Marvin in "The Killers" and "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance?" Awesome. These people had grown up in tougher times and just conveyed something in their work and lingo, even as actors, that just doesn't click nowadays. Sad. When I see these old performances (that my dad thankfully made sure I watched as a kid), I always feel like I'm escaping from where we are headed.
@James Henderson - and a Hispanic plays Hamilton on B'Way. And years ago Ben Vareen - a Black man - was Pippin on B'Way. Prince Pépin was Charlemagne's eldest son - white as snow. So - how is it that Hispanics and Blacks can play _ANY_ part, but _ONLY_ Blacks and Hispanics can play their own culture? Like NO White actors in B'Way's Lion King? Care to elaborate?
@@pawwalker3492 Whites played blacks in the past 1930's and before only in black face. Or don't YOU remember that? Hell whites played blacks NOT in black face these past 70+ yrs. Solomon, Queen of Sheba etc are just 2 of many roles whites have portrayed themselves as black.

You are a class act Southerngirl. Mr. Boone had an amazing movie career and then he went into TV and did a little series called Paladin. It stood out from all the other western series being done at that time. When people like Mr. Zaleski condescend, you ascend. @Vickie OGLESBY hi vickie,it's nice to know that there are some people out there besides me that still have feelings and a heart.those other people who make the terrible statements about these actors,I don't really know the right word to describe them but it's out there,it's just trying oh so hard at picking the best word.those people if you can actually call them people annoy me and make me sick.you might be right they could be young and have no clue and enjoy hurting other people around them like bullies.im young too but I at least know what manners are and can at least try to use them.i may not had perfectly been brought up but I know what manners are.those guys with what they have said have not learn any good manners at all.they must have been brought up very badly and were very rebellious at doing whatever they wanted and hurt whoever they wanted.i doubt they were ever punished. I admit I was never perfect as a child but I was never like this.i know what it's like to be bullied in school and you try so hard not to lose your temper but it's quite hard.and you hope none of that garbage the bullies inflict on you does not rub off in your direction. That's all you need to happen to you in your life as a child to become a creep and a bully yourself which you have no need for.its hard Vickie it's very hard to hold on to your sanity and manners and not to lose your temper at bozos that are complete idiots and are very stupid and also have very big mouths and have no idea how many people they are really hurting around them.they probably think we would not take offense to any of those horrible comments of theirs but they are wrong.telling others things about these actors that are false and untrue, rude, cruel and very unfair is going to hurt others and those idiots don't care at all.saying they are glad they are dead and had gotten sick and all that other garbage made me mad.people are like sponges that absorbe a lot but after awhile a sponge docent absorbe anymore than you have to squeeze it to get all of the liquid out .people go through that too they absorbe a lot that they had enough and are going to speak their mind.the idiots don't care and relish in hurting others with their crap that is false.they don't even care that they may hurt the families of these people let alone the people who are no longer with us who can't defend themselves. I bet Vickie if any of these wounderful actors were still with us today and were face to face with these morons, I bet they would zip their lips, shut up and clam up very fast and not say anything else. They might even be taking to a woodshed for the manners they really need.they only can say garbage about people if they are not there ,if they are not alive,if their backs are turned or if they are behind a computer and that is it .people like this should not be on the computer but they are and we live in America and these is the country of freedom and free speech. But speech like this is hurtful, untrue and should not be heard ,it's uncalled for.sorry about my speech being long but when I read yours and the feelings you had about those jerks,I had to put in my two cents worth on this matter.but what else can you,me and other fans do but fight for our actors .these men are not here with us anymore I sometimes feel we have to stand up for them ,their voices are silent now and they can't do anything about it anymore. Accept get upset in heaven and the good Lord our savoir who is up there with them will find a way to comfort them in any way to keep them from getting upset ,but you have to think they have got to be hurting up there and it is hurting us to and it's very sad.i feel like we are their voices and we have to stick up for them because Vickie these actors can't because they are gone and they can not.but I wish they were here, but they unfortunately are not.i hope you guys are finding episodes of have gun will travel online somewheres they have to be up there somewheres it's just getting harder now.you all may have to do what I did and order the complete series from a movie dvd catalog.they are great no commercials, and none of that mess of them cutting parts out of the show to fit in more boring stupid commercials we have no interest in the first place.i had also purchase dvds of had ramsey, mind you these are video tape quilatiy only, they are not the greatest but you have to take what you can get and I'm taking them when there is a very handsome man on it.now if NBC was to grow brains which to me they don't seem to be doing that at all would get going and get this show cleaned up and in good shape and get it FINALLY on dvd like it should be we could enjoy this the correct and right way it's supposed to be.if you would like the information on how to get these shows on dvd I'll send you some that way you will not have to suffer like this.boone fans deserve to be treated better not to suffer.to this date I'm still somewhat short on his shows like medic, still I do not have the Richard boone show but I am in hot pursuit of that to.and I need about 18 of his Tv movie and other movies.i hope you are having the same luck at getting them to.well I got to go have some things to do,but if you want to get those shows let me know I can give you info it may not be much to go by but I was getting tired of waiting for have gun will travel to come back on tv and now it's problems on the internet I ordered 8t and was extremely happy and took a gamble at getting the hec's on dvd but I loved that show and I had to try something.i would not want that show to disappear from youtube either so I was not taking any chances.you have a nice day vickie.

@Vickie OGLESBY I see a lot in people v ickie and it's not as easy as it seems.i think sometimes we seem to look at people on the outside only and we tend to forget about looking at them deeply on the inside.a lot of people think when they see a person it's like oh their handsome or oh their ugly and that's not always true or fair.i think if like for example if a person isn't pretty to someone another person will see something in a different light and a whole lot deeper. it's like a person who may not be handsome to others may be to some other people who see it more differently by looking at a person on the inside too.sure I love looking at a person on the outside but Vickie we all could see so much more in a person than on the looks on the outside if we all would stop and think at seeing a person on the inside too.i try to do that a lot ,but unfortunately a lot of people out there didn't do that like a lot of people on the web it's hard to ignore people like that because they are still there I should know.its like everywhere I go and where you Vickie go on the internet you ,me and others try so hard to get away from these people they are there.i don't remember where it was but the same people who were picking on Boone, and HESTON, and even Wayne were there with more insults .I'm just wondering where can any of us go to enjoy the internet and even have a friendly chat with fellow fans without running into the creeps that hurt others who seem to follow us wherever we go?it just gets so tiring to here from these people when you are trying to have a good conversation with fans of other actors you like.
Richard Boone may have looked that age, but he passed away at age 63 in early 1981, Boone would have made it to 64 since he was born in June of 1917 but didn't. Marvin thats Lee Marvin ended up dying at the same, age in August 1987.
tony shumway quite a few actors that died young like Lee Van Cleef In 1989 at 64. Richard Boone and Lee Marvin were heavy smokers and drank heavily. Boone struggled with alcoholism for years. Quite a few stars in those that drank and smoked as was norm to in those days. Unfortunately stars like John Wayne, Spencer Tracy, Montgomery Clift, and Humphrey Bogart among others paid the price due to smoking and drinking. Although Wayne died from stomach cancer due to exposure to radiation on a film set years earlier before his death he suffered from lung cancer with being a 4 to 5 pack a day smoker as was Humphrey Bogart who died of Esophageal cancer from his 4 pack a day smoking habit and Hard drinking
George Page I know they did like Humphrey bogart and John Wayne for instance for smoked unfiltered Chesterfield cigarettes for 20 plus years and drank heavily.
George Page my one grandfather smoked unfiltered cigarettes for close to 30 years before he quit smoking altogether due to developing blood clots and had to have surgery and is now 87 old and has not smoked in 28 years and he quit drinking nearly 40 years ago. He wouldn’t be here not if hadn’t quit.
Mr. Tucker, I remember watching "Have Gun Will Travel" with Boone as "Paladin" many, many years ago, and it was fantastic! Thanks for the compliment, and I haven't had anyone who has defended me so eloquently on the internet! My Jim died entirely too young of cancer. Some men used the terms "gorgeous" and "beautiful" to me at my 50th high school reunion recently, where my handsome 6' 4" son was my escort. But my looks are not due to my "clean living" because I smoke and drink Bourbon!!!
John Wayne's wife(Pilar Wayne I think) got him to go to the doctor in the early 1960s when the duke was ill. He was diagnosed with lung cancer and lost a lung because of it,but unlike other stars of his generation like Gary Cooper and Humphrey Bogart,Wayne survived his diagnosis for another 17--18 years, dying in his 70s rather than in his 50s.
I remember he played a colonel in Viet Nam in the Green Berets Movie. I heard that a lot of actors died from cancer because they filmed their movies too close to the nuclear test bomb sites.
David Dreyer actually it John Wayne’s movie The Conqueror released in 1956 that was filmed near the bomb site and the cast and crew were exposed to long time exposure radiation. Many of the stars and crew like the director would die of cancer due to exposure. Wayne died of stomach cancer in 1979 , Susan Hayward of brain cancer in 1975, Pedro Armendariz in 1963 after made the James Bond movie From Russia With Love. Director Dick Powell died from cancer as well in 1963.
If he was still alive and asked to appear on any of these hollywood awards shows today I bet he would refuse. I think he would be ashamed of what it has become.
Yeah they're a bunch of left-wing radicals now too bad what they've done to Hollywood I find myself watching old westerns I do not watch any of this new stuff on TV today
Award shows are terrible and too long. Talking about garbage no one wants to here never talking about good things. I didn't see anything wrong with w esterns on the big screen..and w esterns on tv. Kids had much to admire and imitate. The pussies thought that too violent..when they took gunplay and action cartoons and stuff off tv..then kids had nothing to internalize aggression. That is why you have more shootings outside..more school shootings..more mass killings..because instead of keeping it in the home on tv and seeing commercials about western characters talking about gun safety..they replaced everything with sex and gory bloody films and porn and said this is more safe. And took prayers out of school. Now we have a bunch of devil's running the film and tv industry and everything has gone to hell.
No, my husband was one in a million, a FABULOUS Southern gentleman, and an eminent historian! After we married he told me we couldn't have any children because we might have a girl, and if she looked like him, she'd be ugly and never get married! But she looks like him, except she has a smaller nose, and she was in the "Most Beautiful" pageant at Ole Miss! I have brown eyes and dark brown hair, but both our children are blonde with blue eyes! Liberalism, feminism the pc brigade, the list is endless sadly. None of which existed in Wayne's time. And also the need for diversity to be rammed down our throat at every opportunity and be told we have to accept it. That's what's happened. In a way its good that people of that era, and the likes of Wayne Martin et al, are not living in this world now, as I think they would totally hate what it has become. Can you imagine John Wayne on a reality show. Nightmare thought I know, but that's what level we're at today. So we should be thankful that they didn't have to worry about that. And they lived in a time that we can only wish for, but they actually had. From John Wayne to Ru Paul........ Absolutely terrible.

There has only been one John Wayne. From the way our country is today, I doubt there will ever be another star emerging that is the equal to Duke Wayne.
@James Henderson Quite frankly, who is the "bigger star," John Wayne or Clark Gable is more a matter of personal opinion than anything else. I've great respect for Clark Gable. I can't think of a single one of Gable's movies I've ever watched that I do not like. (Both my sister and her husband "cannot stand" John Wayne. They won't watch---and have not seen in many years, any of Duke's movies. My sister's politics are far to the left of mine. This and many other examples I can site say something to me about "tolerance" and lack of tolerance. Most of the liberals I know have far less tolerance and/or respect for the opinions of others. Conservatives such as myself believe in freedom of thought and freedom of expression. You are obviously more of a fan of Clark Gable than of John Wayne. I very much like JW. But I also very much enjoy most of the Errol Flynn movies I've ever seen. Andy McKane, Molokai, Hawaii.

James Henderson No he isnt
Well Boone wasn't afraid to stand up and be counted. He almost ran for governor of Hawaii in 1969
I am 53 years old when I was young John Wayne with my hero I remember when I was watching TV and they said John Wayne had passed away my heart was broken they don't make actors like John Wayne anymore
Dear Mr. Morrison, we all dearly love and miss you, thank you for all the wonderful movies.
Richard Boone passed away only a year and a half after John Wayne. So sad. Loved and respected both.
Boone had cancer here.
Boone literally killed himself.

So did when I was 15 years old, and I am German.
Richard Boone, to me is and always will be a top five western movie villain.
Total agree he was fantastic actor
For he's a #1 western hero from HGWT and yes played great villains: check out Hombre
Mr I asked you a question. Great Great actor. Rest in peace🕯 Mr Boone🙏
I would go farther and say top five villain and hero, that's how good an actor he was
Years ago in many Asian countries, I saw only portraits of John Wayne and Elvis. JW was in good company and he was a hero not just to us, but the World! I salute you JW, your presence lives on.

john wayne will always be a legend, to me and to the western fans of the world,,
What great actors Richard Boone, John Wayne, and Lee Marvin. They could make such great movies without the awful bloody scenes we see today.
Their films were considered violent.
Richard Boone, an amazing talent....we just don't have those great actors anymore!
Forever a legend, an American icon, a role model, a true gentleman.
John Wayne was the epitome of the western genre as he appeared to all afficandos of him and his films. The man did not "pass away" he simply "died" like the rest of us mortals. He is well remembered for entertaining the many. I have many favourite films of his among my collection which still get a viewing.
A great actor and friend.RIP. My Wayne. 🙏 😇 ❤️ 👍 💒✝✝
I saw Lee Marvin on the Kona Pier, in Hawaii, back in 1974. He was a big dude.
He died in 1981.
He died of throat cancer in 1981 at 63 years old.
Boone also had a broken ankle during that film
richard boone was a class act
Richard Boone was gay.
@RevNagi He was arrested in a gay brothel in Melbourne with underage boys in 1951.
I always liked him. A very underrated actor. Intelligent & thoughtful.
@RevNagi a sentence I need to redo..I meant no evidence of any gayness on his part.ok.
Mark Harrison you are a piece of shit constantly writing about celebrities like you hate everyone and make shit up to. Try to be a tough guy on your posts when you just live in your parents basement being a keyboard warrior. Get a life and a job

As Richard Boone said. He was a Hero.! Can Anyone name one we have now ? Its sad.
Back when Hollywood had real heroes. God bless The Duke and all those who came from a better era of respect and country.

Sad.

From John Wayne to Ru Paul. What the hell happened to this country?
Riot Shield absolute and correct. You said it right, plain and clear.
You got that right!!!! what the hell happened???
Instead of putting things in the trash can, they decided to not bother with taking out the trash
The country with the way they are acting in a lot of way with the junk they are saying and doing is being flushed down the drain strait to he** and it's so very frustrating and sad.
A great star and James stewart
My heroes, God bless
Yeah these guys are really missed I wounder what boone and Wayne would be saying about the country right now if they were here they probably would be very sad and bringing inside
Boone was gay.
@@markharrison2544 no he was not .That was a ladies man .he was married and had a little boy. How would you feel if someone had said that crap to you? You would be very upset wouldn't you?I'm surprised you didn't say this crap to his family you need to be ashamed of yourself and apologize to everyone including his family and stop talking bad about people saying things that are untrue that's how untrue rumors get started by people like you . If you can't say something nice about something or someone than don't say nothing at all .go elsewhere and talk with other losers about garbage that is untrue .
Manly men all. We need em back.
That was the title! I was thinking of the lyrics from the theme song. Ah well. It's been so long. Luckily you are here to keep me honest. I'm sorry to hear about your husband. Cancer has touched my family as well. I am not at all surprised about what was told to you at your last reunion and I am happy that you were properly escorted. Remember when he was a tiny little thing? I will raise a glass to you tonight. You are one in a million.
Yes he was Vicky and a very pretty man too!
Yes, St. George Utah has grown a ton over the years and they have lost many to cancer. Now they have many more homes in that area of Snow Canyon where the movie was made.
Do you mean HE PASSED, not past?
"Passed"
"Or is it glory you wish Southerngal, the crash and the battle flame? the wind shall break on the warship's sail and Death ride free on my horse's tail. Till all the tribes of the earth shall wail at the terror of your name
Rex Tucker hey..listen..can you CUT THE CRAP ALREADY!! You are stalking..man.
You are made of the best stuff luv. Robert the Bruce! I'm right now reading of the massacre at Cawnpore. Little bloody handprints on the walls of their execution chamber was the only reminder of who was there and what went on. General Havelock and the Highlanders led the way, and they took no prisoners. God bless your Jim luv, he would know more about this than me.
Always be the best cowboy ever
Who is that newsman? Thanks.
OP, it's 'The Stars talking about John Wayne when he passed in 1979'. Please correct title.
He came a long way from that role in Baby Face.
The word is 'passed' verb not 'past' noun.
Not many Americans know English well. Come to think of it not many Brits do also.
Richard Boone great actor
Napoleon's soldiers called the Scots, who wore kilts, "the ladies from Hell." Since I am Scotch-Irish, whenever I hear bagpipes, it makes my blood race! I understand that the Aussies are good warriors too. You weren't in the 101st, were you?
And to think they removed his name from the air port ,among other things 🤔, these PC so called people
"Galleys shall break the crimson seas seeking delights for you, With silks and silvery fountains gleams, I will weave a world that glows and seems, a shimmering mist of rainbow dreams, scarlet and white and blue."
Rex Tucker what the hell is wrong with you
@@vickieoglesby3257 I think rex is a little to strange for me.i think he has lost his mind!!!!where have these people come from,Vickie!?
@scorps666 Good point.
Better people from a better time.
John's wife Pilar notice that most if not all of those with cancer were also smokers.
Barbara Marrs look a here..GET YOUR FUNKY ASS OFF HERE WITH YOUR SMOKERS COMMENTS!!
@@vickieoglesby3257 yes unfortunately people get that dreaded disease other ways to,unfortunately. Oh if only these men were born about the same time we were born ,Vickie we would still be enjoying them right now.
When he passed, not when he past.
It’s true that he passed, but that happened in the past.
"passed" not "past".
"When he passed," not "when he past." (As in "passed away.")
Passed not "past".
Richard Boone died two years after The Duke
You would think tests would have been done, maybe there tests for safety reasons. I wonder if people live in that area now. Good comment..!
Can you imagine the audience's reaction if he had fallen down those stairs? Pandemonium doesn't describe it.
An American Heroe.........
Mr. Zaleski, you are not a gentleman. It is not polite to call someone a "moron" under any circumstances. If you knew about the way cancer matastazes (sp?), it doesn't spread from the lungs to the stomach. Duke had lung cancer at least ten years before he was diagnosed with stomach cancer. If Duke had died of lung cancer, he'd have died in less than three years after his surgery. God bless Duke, a great human being, and a great American.
