So here's my update, I received my machine and have played with it now for a bit. I must say, you hit it right on the money. This machine is an absolute delight to work with. The video does not do justice to how nice this machine is in person. The feel of it is so excellent, build is solid, specs are fantastic. This is probably the best machine I have owned. I returned a Lenovo T450s, as I found this machine to be built better and have far better performance options. The maintenance capability is superb, screen is excellent, CPU and Nvidia GPU option together is fantastic as well. Thanks again for your review of this model as I had not even explored the new Dell models up until I watched it.
I bought this little gem at a thrift store for 20 U.S. dollars! slapped in a 250SSD drive and Windows 10 pro and I have a unbelievable laptop. it has a i7 -2620m intel hd graphics 3000 which is different than the nvidia one you are stating, great laptop for a awesome price.
Receive mine yesterday, great laptop I bought the i5 5300u with only intel HD, 256Gb HDD, 1x8Gb RAM. Its exactly as the review, I'm using on Linux and everything is working great so far. As a software engineer it have everything you should look for in a notebook. Great keyboard, amazing battery life, nice display, fast enough. I update it with a 256Gb SSD and will probably buy another 8Gb DDR3L stick. catch a little off guard because my SSD is 2.5" 9.5mm and the laptop only supports 2.5" 7mm but I end up disassembling the SSD to make it fits. Thank you for the review!
CPU cool down better and faster with only 1- 8 gb ram stick or 1- 16 gb ram stick. CPU move data faster with one ram stick. CPU don't like to studder step data into 2 or 4 rams slots. This causes cpu to heat up too fast and stays very hot for too long studder stepping :C. Nvidia knows about this
This is a great laptop. I was able to get a i7 5600, 1x8 ram, 256SSD, nvidia 840M, 1920x1080 IPS screen and backlit keyboard for under $400 at the Dell outlet. Very solid build quality.
+Damir Franc Dell pricing at their US outlet is all over the place but you can find some great deals. The one i received was a refurbished model but it still comes with the same warranty as a new. The US site also does not list the video card. I got lucky and this one had the 840m. Your review is spot on though - fantastic laptop.
When I first saw your video I really wanted an E5450 but couldn't afford one right away so I bought an E5440 ( i5 4300u ),then an E5440 ( i5 4310u ) and now E5450 (i7 5600u). They are all amazing and similar computers. One thing that viewers might want to know; The performance difference between a e5440 and E5450 is completely unnoticeable. If you can't afford an E5450 (or now E5470) buy a E5440. The E5440 is extremely similar (looks so similar it's hard to tell the difference) and actually has benefits including the ability to run TWO solid state drives, E5450 only can handle one hard drive, E5450 battery is also internal while E5440 gives the ability to swap batteries like a conventional laptop, E5440 can also run 97WH battery while E5450 is smaller and internal.
My e5450 arrived Friday and I've not been able to put it down - I LOVE IT TOO!!!. I bought the i5, 8GB, 256GB SSD, Intel 5500 all with the Windows 10 upgrade. It's everything you said and more. The experience is great and is perfect for University. Thanks for your review.
I just ordered the i7 version with 16Gb earlier today as my business laptop , and just wanted to check some reviews, and stumble across this review which heightened my expectations!!!! .. Now i am really looking forward to getting it! :-)
I can confirm that the E5450 does indeed have the MaxxAudio sound equalizer. It is under "Dell Audio." Mind you this was after I upgraded to windows 10 and upgraded the sound drivers after. And it sounds absolutely AMAZING!!! I have the i7-5600u and GT 840m model with the 1080p ips panel got it refurbished for $679. Looks brand new. I've always had bad luck with consumer dell products with QC, but their business products are a whole different animal. Returned my Alienware 15 for this cute but powerful laptop.
No problem. Audio is one of the first things I check on a laptop because I love to listen to music and watch my shows on the laptop. And often times the way the computer reproduces sound can make or break the experience. It sounds better than the Alienware 15 2015 R2 I've tested before I returned it.
Could you please inform me a bit on what you mentioned at 7:42, how to get a higher RAM. I want to use mine for Adobe premier but I don't think it's original 4ram(?) will hold up
SomeGuy5 I just picked this up yesterday 3/14/19 w/ an i7, 16bg ram and 500 gb Samsung ssd for $220 . Compared to my newer Dell Inspiron 15 i3 w/ 8gb ram and 500gb WD ssd this laptop is my favorite business laptop I've owned. I have a $3K desktop w/ dual screens and I must say that I've enjoyed laying in bed working on this machine today. It's no slouch. I love the case! A client of mine just purchased the newest version from Dell in this class with an 8th gen i7 so, I'll be interested to see how it compares when he receives it. I definitely would recommend this over a new i3 laptop though even at $100 over what I paid. It's just a well built laptop even 4 yrs later.
some body Please share what website you found this for such a great price, I’m seeking an affordable used one of these for a coding bootcamp I’ll be starting soon. Thx!
Hi Damien, great review. Just had a few questions: 1) Did you notice any backlight bleeding? That was mentioned in the Notebookcheck review. Also, 2) What scaling settings did you use for the laptop (125%)?
***** Great, thanks again. I'm debating between this and the 1080p HP ZBook 14, both of which I can get refurbished for less than half of the original price. Have you had any experience with the Zbook 14?
I can't find exactly what the differences are between the 5450 with backlit keyboard and the version without it.....anyone? I mean is the backlit keyboard just a stand-alone option? thanks for your help!
Great review, Damir! I used to buy Dells, but their drop in quality turned me off about 10 years ago and then I only bought Thinkpads. With the shady software Lenovo now runs, I'm back to looking. Thanks for turning me back to Dell! You've helped sell me this machine. :)
+Damir Franc Exactly! I've had this T431s for 3 years and the embedded cache drive went kaput. Keeping it disabled allows the machine to mostly run. I despise the touch pad (impossible to use on this machine) and I pack a mouse with me everywhere. I'm sorely disappointed in it. My previous Thinkpad (T410) would bluescreen when switching between LAN and wireless and bluescreen under heavy graphics usage or doing any rendering. As you said, their new machines are far from their glory days.
...please help. my vga cable to my widescreen TV went hanky, and walmart is dragging ass to get me another one. so, my question. are any of the other ports used for video out to mirror connect to a TV?....
Ok I'm trusting your review man. I just bought the Core i7, 256gb ssd model on ebay for like $680. I think that is a pretty good steal for a nicely built windows laptop which is also quiet and good for productivity work. I mean I also have a 13.3" macbook pro but I never really use it for productivity work I use it mainly for either editing videos, or surfing the web or one day maybe develop apps on it. But for productivity I always use windows for Microsoft Office and because I pretty much have used a windows laptop since I was a tiny kid.
+SIKE hey how is the dell lattitude coming along? I use a macbook air 13" right now and I need to upgrade. I want a macbook pro 13" or a dell latitude 5000 series. I'm having a tough time deciding between the two (I'm a student , the laptop will be used for school and programming)
I have both I really love the Dell laptop it really good. The only thing I don't like about it is that it does not have a backlit key board. He is right though the laptop is very quiet. If you need the backlit feature go for the 7450 or just look for a version with backlit built in it but I just bought a cheap USB laptop light and works good enough for me. Get macbook if you can still do programming on it but otherwise this a great windows notebook too. Just make sure to try and get a backlit version it helps out a lot when doing work at night
+Damir Franc no big deal that backlit feature not worth buying a whole new laptop over lol. Basically everything you said about this laptop is dead on. It a really great laptop from dell. It just a nice looking sturdy light laptop that should be able to let you get things done period in a comfortable manner. Thanks for your review Damir it helped me buy this laptop. Wasn't sure how I would feel about a non-apple laptop but yea I love it. It my fault really for not looking into if my version had backlit or not. Like I said I fixed that situation by just buying a small portable usb light cable to help me do work at night. It works perfectly for that.
hey great review wo hast du denn dieses Modell mit IPS Panel besorgt? ich moechte gern gleich kaufen (in Deutschland) aber ich finde es nicht mit ips matt... LG
Thanks again for your review. I ultimately decided to make the purchase! I ended up getting a Dell Certified Refurbished with the i7 5500u, Geforce 840M, 8GB RAM and 500 GB HDD for $749. I have a Crucial MX100 256GB SSD I will be throwing in it. Can't wait!

Hey dear have you done decision among these brands and models kindly let me know here as i am also in stress while choosing a model and brand among these
Hi Damir, Nice review of the Dell E5450. I am considering purchasing this laptop. You mentioned in this video or your other video comparing this laptop to the Macbook Pro 13 that this E5450 can be upgraded to 32GB or RAM. Where can two 16gb sticks of RAM be purchased for this model. Thanks much in advance.
Thinking either E5450 or E5550... I can't find a review like this for the E5550. Do you know that machine? Does most of the stuff you say about the E5450 also apply to the E5550? Any differences I should be aware of?
Is this like the Dell E5570 except for the size? E5570 is 15.6" and this is 14" I nearly committed to a Dell E5570 but the screen size (1366 x 768) is holding me back. Wouldn't 1920 x 1080 be better? Like on Dell's Latitude E7440 Is it a reflection of cost or is there a good reason why Dell assigns some models with one pixel size montior and others with full hd? Thanks
Unfortunately subscribing doesn't make much sense at this point for international viewers since I stopped english about 10 months ago, just couldn't continue doing 2 versions any longer
I haven't watched the full video yet (and I will) but what I'm looking for is: this notebook is easy to open for ram and hdd/ssd upgrades like the other latitude series notebooks ? I see some screws there .. it would be nice. Thanks. (I'm asking because a friend of mine needs a new pc and I suggested him this latitude)
+Damir Franc Thanks for your reply, I'll download the pdf and check it out !! One thing though: I'm doubtful about suggesting my friend to buy the version with the i5 6440hq or the i76600U because it appears as the i5 is 4 cores, and the i7 is dual core ultra low voltage. Which one do you think performs better during the real use?
+Damir Franc I don't know, maybe it's a slightly different model. If you check here it says i5 quad core :) (the first model on the left) www.dell.com/it/aziende/p/latitude-e5470-laptop/pd?ref=PD_OC
Damir - Would you buy the Dell 5450 with standard spinner drive or the 5250 (smaller screen) with 256SSD? This would be an option through work. I am concerned the 12.5 " will be small since I don't have 2 external monitors. I work off 1 monitor and primarily use the notebook. What are your thoughts? Which model?
Hi! I'm an incoming college freshman. Will this laptop be a good one for me? Also is the viewing angle good in direct sunlight? I live in Texas where it'll be mainly sunny so I need something I can use outside too and will be able to see the screen. Thank you!!
Hello, I am thinking about buying this laptop for studies. On my last laptop, the screen got crushed in my padded school bag. This because of its flimsy screen. So I would like to ask if you have noticed if the screen is flimsy or can be bend by just applying a bit op pressure on it when it is closed ? Thank you for your time :)
Great review, I enjoy your reviews as they are very thorough and insightful. Question, how is the thickness of this machine? I am comparing to a Thinkpad T450s.
***** I see, I'm not looking for super thin, just not bulky. It is hard to tell with these business models since you cannot demo them before purchase (such as at a retail store). I am very intrigued by this Dell model though, did you find the thickness to be bulky? Is is thick compared to the Macbook Pro 2012 Non-Retina model, same thickness? I would be most interested in this with the i7 and the Nvidia GPU as you suggested, it looks like a very nice machine. One other question, did the screen wobble at all when you evaluated it or is the screen stiff without wobbling when moved?
It’s an amazing laptop I’m using it since 7 months now. The only thing I don’t like is the body because the body’s material is so smooth so if you put your nail accidentally it will scratch the material out! That’s a bad thing for sure. Overall in terms of software it’s amazing.
Damir, Great review, you've swayed me from the inspiron 13 7347. One thing, how does it compare to the latitude 12 e3250? Can you get a unit and give your honest option. I'm looking for and advanced study laptop for university. Thanks again and keep up the good work.
Really cool review thanks. I also got one after seeing it. I'm having trouble getting it to connect to a hosted network though. Hosted network supported: no :-( please tell me that the hardware supports this. (windows 10, intel 5600 with 4g network card).
thanks, i really wanna get this laptop. i have another question do you know if i get the 1366*720 screen, later in the future can upgrade it by buying a 1920*1080 screen????
+Damir Franc but i saw a more expensive model of this laptop that offers a 1920*1080 resolution screen. so if i buy a replacement part with 1920*1080 , what limit me to replace it on another laptop that have a lower resolution screen??
Hi, I can't find it in the video. What model is yours? i7 with dgpu or i5 with intel graphic. If it is i7 with gpu, I am extremely impress with what you said about the noise level. Thanks.
+Damir Franc Thanks for your quick response. I wish yours is the one with Nvidia, I will order one righr now if so. I look up the inside of this laptop, there is only one fan. The one with GPU has two heat pipe, one fan. It kind of make me nervous, I wish they go for two fans.
Hi, now where anywhere in the manual does it say it can obtain 32gb. I'm not saying it can not. But, exactly what setup are you using, to achieve this result?
Hi Damir, marvelous review you did on the Dell Latitude E5450, I just love it! ( Ich liebe es !) And hopefully my best girlfriend will like this laptop too :-). I just bought this machine (a refurbished) for her and tomorrow ( 1-7-2017) I will prepare and install this machine at her wishes. So hopefully this E5450 will be good for for her as your review. Thumbs up for you. Greetings from the Netherlands.
What is the laptop made of...is it made of aluminum like a MacBook or is it made of plastic material? You say the top feels of rubberized plastic and plastic feet but is the laptop ALL plastic?
+Damir Franc I Damir, I just bought the new 14" edition with 6th Gen Intel® Core™ i5-6440 Quad Core processor, 8GB memory, 256 SSD, FHD display, and Windows 10 Professional. For €1.772 Price includes 3 year plus warranty and onsite support. Do you think this is a good buy? I was considering the 7000 series, but when i wanted to order I did see this new edition and I did an impulse buy since i need this machine for my business start up in 1 week :-)
I'll be using my laptop for student needs, a little bit of gaming, a little bit of video editing, and entertainment (movies, music, etc...) thank you so much
***** I just ordered one from Dell... Wanted to reassure myself that it was a good purchase, and from your review: I am reassured, although the delivery date is almost 2 weeks away before receiving it. Overall, an excellent video review, and Web Review also. Keep it coming!
Great review Damir! Thanks for the very in-depth review. I need a laptop for my work and am reviewing viable options. I want it to be fast, you mentioned at the end that you would upgrade to 256gb ssd and i7 processor. Is this right if you want to maximize speed? Thanks Kev
Depends on the game really. I am a happy owner of this laptop with the I7-5600u + Nvidia 840m configuration for half a year now (thanks to Damir too and his fantastic review). The graphic card isn't really that bad, I can run GTA V with 1080p resolution low-medium settings and FXAA Anti-aliasing on, while having stable 30-40 fps. Really impressive tbh.

Thinking either E5450 or E5550... I can't find a review like this for the E5550. Do you know that machine? Does most of the stuff you say about the E5450 also apply to the E5550? Any differences I should be aware of?
I use this for gaming and it’s good with a ram upgrade
What specs is yours packing, man?
Is this like the Dell E5570 except for the size?
E5570 is 15.6" and this is 14"
I nearly committed to a Dell E5570 but the screen size (1366 x 768) is holding me back. Wouldn't 1920 x 1080 be better? Like on Dell's Latitude E7440
Is it a reflection of cost or is there a good reason why Dell assigns some models with one pixel size montior and others with full hd?
Thanks
The keyboard lights up??
yes

Sorry I'm French I use Google translation
And also 1 like. 😉
Unfortunately subscribing doesn't make much sense at this point for international viewers since I stopped english about 10 months ago, just couldn't continue doing 2 versions any longer
is nice to use fl studio 20?
Yes
I run it very well
I haven't watched the full video yet (and I will) but what I'm looking for is: this notebook is easy to open for ram and hdd/ssd upgrades like the other latitude series notebooks ? I see some screws there .. it would be nice. Thanks. (I'm asking because a friend of mine needs a new pc and I suggested him this latitude)
+Damir Franc Thanks for your reply, I'll download the pdf and check it out !! One thing though: I'm doubtful about suggesting my friend to buy the version with the i5 6440hq or the i76600U because it appears as the i5 is 4 cores, and the i7 is dual core ultra low voltage. Which one do you think performs better during the real use?
+Damir Franc I don't know, maybe it's a slightly different model. If you check here it says i5 quad core :)

+Davide Loi Sorry, my bad. The one I'm talking about is the E5470, with 6th generation processors.
Thanks for a great review! How would you compare it with E5440?
Does it have flicker on display when you camera it? Some laptop screen have flicker, that make my eyes strain
Is it possible to get a backlit keyboard skin with this laptop
Damir - Would you buy the Dell 5450 with standard spinner drive or the 5250 (smaller screen) with 256SSD? This would be an option through work. I am concerned the 12.5 " will be small since I don't have 2 external monitors. I work off 1 monitor and primarily use the notebook. What are your thoughts? Which model?
Thanks Damir! I ordered the 5450 today! Appreciate the advice!
I have this laptop. What are all the i can upgrade to get better performance?
You are from Germany?
Hi I have Latitude E5470 but I forgot the password how can reset without losing data I have my school work on it.
thnk u for the vid .....what s the difference between the 5450 and the 5440
Hi, do you have idea about this laptop which kind of M.2 SSD it can hold for hard disc upgrade?
Hi! I'm an incoming college freshman. Will this laptop be a good one for me? Also is the viewing angle good in direct sunlight? I live in Texas where it'll be mainly sunny so I need something I can use outside too and will be able to see the screen. Thank you!!
Can be used with video editor?
I lost my charger for the e5450 . Where can i buy one?
Do you still like it?
it was only a loaner for the review
@@TheNitpicker so you thought lier
C'est combien de dédiée ?
Does it have a backlit keyboard
Hello, I am thinking about buying this laptop for studies. On my last laptop, the screen got crushed in my padded school bag. This because of its flimsy screen. So I would like to ask if you have noticed if the screen is flimsy or can be bend by just applying a bit op pressure on it when it is closed ?
Thank you for your time :)
Is this laptop worth buying for rendering and softwares like adobe after effects and blender? Do they run smoothly on it?
How is the sound on this unit?
Hi. What is the diference between E5450 and E7450?
How easy is it to upgrade the RAM and storage in this laptop? I didn't see any door on the bottom side.
It is very easy to upgrade RAM or HDD, there are 6 screws holding down the bottom plate and the whole thing comes off.
Can anyone tell me what is the use of middle button above the touchpad. How to use it can anyone tell me?
It’s an amazing laptop I’m using it since 7 months now. The only thing I don’t like is the body because the body’s material is so smooth so if you put your nail accidentally it will scratch the material out! That’s a bad thing for sure. Overall in terms of software it’s amazing.
Damir, Great review, you've swayed me from the inspiron 13 7347.
One thing, how does it compare to the latitude 12 e3250? Can you get a unit and give your honest option.
I'm looking for and advanced study laptop for university.
Thanks again and keep up the good work.
Sorry, ed2 50th.
Sorry again e5250 (stupid autocorrect)
***** thanks
Really cool review thanks. I also got one after seeing it. I'm having trouble getting it to connect to a hosted network though. Hosted network supported: no :-( please tell me that the hardware supports this. (windows 10, intel 5600 with 4g network card).
+Damir Franc i have a question about this laptop...which games you run on the laptop, and how was the experience???
thanks, i really wanna get this laptop.
i have another question do you know if i get the 1366*720 screen, later in the future can upgrade it by buying a 1920*1080 screen????
+Damir Franc but i saw a more expensive model of this laptop that offers a 1920*1080 resolution screen.
so if i buy a replacement part with 1920*1080 , what limit me to replace it on another laptop that have a lower resolution screen??
I just ordered a refurbished one of these for £200 on UK Ebay
Excited
Does it have a webcam? I read a review on Amazon says, "no web cam".
It does
May I know which one you got? Intel core i5 or i7?
How many does this laptop cost? (Could you send a link to buy it, please?) Thanks!!
I can work with autocad 2016?
Hi, I can't find it in the video. What model is yours? i7 with dgpu or i5 with intel graphic. If it is i7 with gpu, I am extremely impress with what you said about the noise level. Thanks.
+Damir Franc Thanks for your quick response. I wish yours is the one with Nvidia, I will order one righr now if so. I look up the inside of this laptop, there is only one fan. The one with GPU has two heat pipe, one fan. It kind of make me nervous, I wish they go for two fans.
Thanks you so much i really wanted to see this
Which is better this one or e7440
Is it fast and powerful in 2021
Hi, now where anywhere in the manual does it say it can obtain 32gb. I'm not saying it can not. But, exactly what setup are you using, to achieve this result?
+Damir Franc
TY
-Chris
could i use it as a gaming laptop?
not really, no
well it was a great review thanks
It's all good until the battery swells and breaks the back cover.
Mine too.
Greetings from the Netherlands.
you think this will still be okay this 2018? thanks :)
Oh yea for most common needs this will suite you just fine. I have one for some everyday tasks and it works just fine.
What is the laptop made of...is it made of aluminum like a MacBook or is it made of plastic material? You say the top feels of rubberized plastic and plastic feet but is the laptop ALL plastic?
i just order E5470 with core i5 2 cores and ddr4 8gb and HD but sadly did not have optio to upgrade to FHD diskplay :(
Where is stress tests ? Can i play anything on medium grafics ? i 7 sounds great but didnt hear how mutch gogs on graphic card .
1. didn't know a stress test is a must
2. it's a business laptop without a dedicated gpu and not meant at all for gaming...
@@TheNitpicker Thx for the fast answer .
can you open 4k 30fps videos ? or 1080 60fps?
sure
Awesome review mate! I found one with 830M for 700€, so I think I'm gonna buy it...
+Damir Franc do you think the New edition will have better battery life? 62wh and quadcore processer; ddr4 and AMD graphics ... ?
I am glad i got this laptop am loving everything about it
Where could I get it for a good price?
+Eli Agronov Ebay!
Would you recommend this laptop over the Dell Latitude E7450?
I'll be using my laptop for student needs, a little bit of gaming, a little bit of video editing, and entertainment (movies, music, etc...) thank you so much
Thanks for your video review Damir. I also read your written review first, before stumbling upon this video. Great Job :-)
***** I just ordered one from Dell... Wanted to reassure myself that it was a good purchase, and from your review: I am reassured, although the delivery date is almost 2 weeks away before receiving it. Overall, an excellent video review, and Web Review also. Keep it coming!
Excellent Review thank you
What are you saying at 11:42? "...because it is important for me no "? No what?
+Damir Franc ich dachte schon du meinst 'coil hum'.. aber hörte sich doch etwas anders an :-) also 'coil wine'. danke.
Good Review! Thank YOU!
hmmmm..... so basically I cannot upgrade to 32gb ram (2x16gb) ?
is it good for big games? like just cause 3, GTA v, etc
+nenshoone kasai XD gofer it
+nenshoone kasai not unless you get the model with the graphics card included (Nvidia g30m/g40m)!
please can you do an updated video...about the performance several months after.? thank you.
thanks
Great review Damir! Thanks for the very in-depth review. I need a laptop for my work and am reviewing viable options. I want it to be fast, you mentioned at the end that you would upgrade to 256gb ssd and i7 processor. Is this right if you want to maximize speed? Thanks Kev
+Damir Franc Thanks Damir!
What about tablet mode
1. it's no tablet
2. why should I talk about a WIndows Software feature in an unrelated hardware review?
Could you play sims 4 on it
Is it good for gaming? NOT like the best expirience in gaming but like something standard.
Really impressive tbh.
can you get apps like Netflix?
Damir Franc so would you think Netflix is available?
Damir Franc oh okay thanks!
is there backlight on keyboard?
Does it run good on Valorant
It is an 8 year old machine. No
plz review asus ux303lb
its just the right size and weight doesnt get hot much and plays games well
1080p on 14" isn't the text incredibly small?
Bro that's every laptop in existance and no
@@GamingAndRCs not quite, there are some with HD+ which is a lot better (font size is decent without scaling)
