@@tree1568 the dagger batting moment was scripted. The story that it was an accident is a myth that keeps getting repeated. There is no source for it, and in the director's commentary, PJ only mentions Viggo got it "on the first take". The cast commentary suggests that viggo got headbutted by Lurtz on accident because Lurtz was unable to see well due to the prosthetics. It's likely that those two moments got conflated and gave rise to that myth.
11:41 fun fact: in this scene Viggo Mortensen broke two toes, they filmed this shot multiple times and then in this shot, he broke his big toe and the toe next to it, because he kicked a metal helmet, thats why he screams so loud.
21:37 That's Grima's nickname. "Worm" actually means in that context snake, serpent or even dragon (wyrm). That's due to the fact that Grima is sneaky slythery guy who can convince basicly anyone because dragons in Tolkien's universe actually really good at convincing
11:40 Fun Fact: while it was scripted for Aragorn to scream in that moment, the scream they used was partially genuine because the actor actually hurt his toe when he kicked the helmet
Yeah he broke his toe, Ouch. And when gandalf calls shadow fang and legolas blinks three times. This is the only time you see him blink throughout all the movies. And that's why he also says do my eyes deceive me. I'm a huge Lotr nerd, mainly because I'm from New Zealand and not many movies are filmed here.
To some psychologists, Wormtongue serves as an archetypal sycophant. Tolkien scholars note that Tolkien based Wormtongue on the untrustworthy character Unferth in Beowulf. He is presumptive, behaving as if he already rules Rohan, and exemplifies lechery, as correctly guessed by Gandalf; he hopes to become rich, and to take Éowyn as the woman he desires. The name Gríma derives from the Old English or Icelandic word meaning "mask", "helmet" or "spectre" Tolkien scholars have noted that Wormtongue's interaction with Gandalf in Meduseld has an Old English counterpart in the epic poem Beowulf: the account is closely based on the hero Beowulf's dealings with Unferth in Heorot, where Unferth is King Hrothgar's "ambiguous" spokesman; Unferth is thoroughly discredited by Beowulf, as Wormtongue is by Gandalf. The critic Charles W. Nelson describes Wormtongue's attitude as an example of presumption, behaving "as if he were already on the throne" of Rohan. Nelson notes that Richard Purtill suggests that Tolkien is intentionally embodying the seven deadly sins in his characters. He quotes from one of Tolkien's letters to this effect: "the encouragement of good morals in this real world, by the ancient device of exemplifying them in unfamiliar embodiments, that may tend to 'bring them home.'" Clark writes that Dwarves exemplify greed, Men pride, Elves envy, Ents sloth, Hobbits gluttony, Orcs anger, and Wormtongue lechery. That lechery is, Nelson notes, correctly guessed by Gandalf: that he would gain a large share in Meduseld's treasure, and Éowyn's hand in marriage, "on whose person Grima had long cast lecherous eyes and lascivious looks", and indeed in Éomer's words that Grima had "haunted her steps". in this case Elves envy was eventually what became of them because they cannot die in the same way Men do as death was their gift from Eru Îlluvatar! Mainly to allow their Fëa(spirit) to go beyond the circles of the world (halls of Eru which those of Rohan and Númenor call the “Golden Halls Of Their Fathers, Of Whom Of Mighty Company”)❤️ many if not all don’t know that. Even the VALAR and Maiar themselves became envious of the gift of an Men. It was so their spirit can escape from Morgoth ever chasing after them and messing with their spirits. As they dealt with Morgoth for a long time. Some say even before Galadriel’s brother found the first men ever to walk the earth; their ancestors dealt with his terror and dread, which also lead to him warping them from the start to live shorter lives. They apparently were meant to be much longer lived! But yeah Númenoreans lived up to 500 plus years each and Elronds Brother Elros lived beyond that as he was formally an elf like his brother. Not just any elf can do the switch. It’s all due to their ancestors.
🌄Aragorns ring(there is a few shots during the movie where you see a good look on it being worn but also in that book that has the drawing and history of that ring Saruman spoke about after Grima brought it up to him(Saruman) once belonged to Galadriel’s dearest elder brother Finrod, Named Felagund by the dwarves he befriended, they gifted him one of their fortresses of Nargothrond and he even built it with them). He was the most famous Elf in the Legendarium aside from his uncle Fingolfin! It ended up being given to Barahir’s ancestors and Barahir is closest relative to Aragorn through the line of Arathorn! And they connect directly to the house of Bëor. Which all three houses of the Edain were found and befriended by Finrod. First to discover Men before anyone else !! Not even the Valar save Melkor long long long long ago. They’ve been aware of him for a very long time and have been fighting him almost as long as the elves did but with no help during those darker times before the sun and moon were even born into the world after melkor and Ungoliant killed the two trees of silver and gold in Valinor. By the time the Gondorians lost Eärnur the Anorian line of Elendil got their cheeks clapped so hard they were reduced to a lesser tribe who had lost a shit ton of status and a lot of symbols of their power like the Ring of Barahir or Narsil. The Gondorian Stewards, especially those like Denethor, looked down on their northern brethren as pretenders and foreigners. Aragorn not only had served in Gondor's army for a time but was chosen to carry on many of the ancient symbols of the line of Elendil like Barahir and reforging Narsil into Andúril. Throw in a fancy banner made by his elf GF and he had the symbols and treasures of a king. Denethor lighting himself on fire also contributed along with Faramir willingly surrendering his authority to Aragorn helped. An heirloom of the Ñoldor/ Vanyar(Galadriel and Finrod’s kin) But as I said, it's got SO much value. Makes me want to say something similar to what Gandalf said about the mithril vest that was more valuable than the shire itself. Hahaa And so ofc Aragorn for many reasons knows the history of that very ring he wears. I believe as it belonged to Galadriel’s brother, either she gave it to him or it made it down the line directly from Aragorn’s mighty ancestry.
Before I expand this for you I’ll simply say there was a detailed battle that happened before it became the marshes and Legolas’s father and grandfather took part in this and were to join in the last alliance after that war took place that waylaid their people. His grandfather Oropher died there and it sunk very deeply with his Father Thranduil who literally is still rather haunted by it. The part about the dead marshes includes Legolas’s Father; Thranduil, & Thranduil’s father Oropher, were to join the Last Alliance in from a different angle to achieve a certain war tactic but Oropher and others got waylayed by orcs & many corrupted men which lead to eventually Oropher dying there, this loss effected Legolas’s father so very deeply forevermore. The bond between he and his son is the same bond Thranduil has with Legolas. And the braid he wears is to honour his grandfather. I believe after his death braids became less common. A sort of respect thing I believe. Both his father and Grandfather lived in Doriath(Elu Thingol’s domain[Elwë’s Domain, his true name. He was given a few names], which was heartbea of middle earth; Aside from Gondolin which held this mantle until it’s secret location was given up by a tortured elf who was the son of a very important mother who was the sister of the high king Turgon). All on a landmass called Beleriand that sunk under the sea after a set of disastrous events that lead to many greater outcomes much later on in the legendarium. You’re right on the money with Gollum and food. He can’t stomach regular food after surviving off raw stuff for so long Fellbeast, not a dragon. You see one dragon but not in this trilogy “I don’t understand age in this and never will, so don’t explain it” he says at he exact same time it’s being explained 😂 The hyena looking beasts are wargs. Large, evil wolves.
Gollum wasn't eating regular food. They gave him lembas. Since it is made by the Elves, evil creatures are not capable of eating Elvish food since it is innately good. It's the same reason why the rope Galadriel gave Sam hurt Gollum, it was literally burning him.
Oh yeah, been waiting for this! Joke as you always do Pugga, that's one of the main reasons why I watch your videos tbh. And this is coming from a LOTR nerd, you're genuinely funny.
"I don't want to see 80 year old and...probably 200 year old have sex"....Well...she is actually over 2k XDDD, and when he was brought to Elrond as a small boy she already was 2000 and something, so she watched him grow up, and one day she was like ..."I'm gonna smash that" XDDD
I watched another LotR reaction recently who also made a lot of jokes and I didn't like it very much because he seemed to belittle the films while doing so but somehow I don't mind here, because it seems that you nonetheless appreciate the movies. And your puns are hilarious most of the time ;D

Honestly, as much of a huge LotR fan I am, I actually very strongly recommend people new to this to watch the theatrical/shorter versions first. They're far easier for new people to get into & watch. If they end up liking it, then I suggest they watch the extended editions. Also, really enjoying the reactions, all that matters is that you're enjoying the movies.
Take some time and watch the Making Of videos that come with the DVDs (many of them are also available on UA-cam). I found them nearly as enjoyable as the movie itself. The Orc costumes you admired were made of foam latex and took hours to get into. Each suit was good for about a week's worth of filming and was then discarded. The pile of Orc carcasses was a pile of used Orc suits. When our Three Dudes were hotfooting it across Rohan, you had Viggo Mortensen with a broken toe from kicking the Orc helmet, Orlando Bloom with a cracked rib from falling off his horse, and John Rhys-Davies' scale double with a dislocated knee. True professionals all! Also, Andy Serkis did that Smeagol/Gollum dialogue in a single take.
@@Puggapillar check out my comments in your recent Lord Of The Rings videos and give me your thoughts. I’m eager to hear your thoughts and questions. ❤️
If you’re going to fall down a deep chasm into water, just make sure you have a Balrog under you to break the surface tension first. Unfortunately (in the books, not the movie), you then have to deal with a nasty slime version of a Balrog, but you have a better chance than hitting the water would probably give you.
Don't stress the Twin towers mistake. I made the same mistake when I'm new York City much closer to 9/11. And got a few stares from it. The movie came out 2 months after the attack. I'm my mind there was some providential training for it. Now I personally take this film as a type of monument to those who died in the attack.
It took me a while to understand the way you enjoy a movie. Now I'm totally comfortable with it and enjoying along with you. Those of us steeped in Tolkien's work can be protective, pedantic, and pissed when his genius isn't appreciated. I hope you didn't catch too much flak because I believe you ARE invested in the movies, not for any deep lore in the back stories, but for what they are. And that's great. Waiting for Return of the King.
Honestly, respect for calling both Treebeard's name and Gandalf the White _twice_ TREE TRUNKS AAAAAAAAAAAAAAH FUCK ALL THE WAY OFF 🤣 (I will now and forevermore refer to taking a shit as "dropping the hobbits off at Isengard")
Don't worry. Tolkien hated the title "The Two Towers". He never decided which pair of two towers he was referring to. I think he was being petty since the publisher forced him to split LOTR into three books.
Really happy to see this, I was really looking foward to part 2, this is one of the funniest and most unique LotR reactions :) Also I like how excited you get when you see actors you recognize ;)
Gandalf physically looks like an old man, but he's not. He's very strong and powerful. His spirit is a Maiar, similar to angel. The Maiar are lower spiritual beings to the Valar, who are the more powerful ruling spirits.
I have a suggestion, could you maybe try to watch Childs play 2019? It’s really good and it would be great to see our little red haired psychopath again!😊
About Gandalf: He's not a human being. He's a Maia, I think the closest equivalent would be a lower class angel (so is Saruman, Radagast, the Balrog and Sauron, the latter two became evil a long time ago, they are "Umaiar" - evil Maiar). In the beginning Eru Iluvatar (God in Tolkien's universe) created the Ainur, pure angelic beings. The higher class are the Valar, there are 14 of them they actually govern this world. The lower class are the Maiar. Together they created this world through song and they live in the Undying Lands across the ocean. Centuries ago the Valar decided to send five of the Maiar (Gandalf, Saruman, Radagast and two so-called blue wizards)to Middle Earth to help the free people in their struggle against evil. They are disguised as old men, they may not dominate or rule people, they must only use wisdom and counsel. When Gandalf (his original name is Olorin) was sent back he was permitted to show a bit more of his original powers. There's a lot more to it of course but I hope this helps you understand. Regarding Aragorn's age. A long time ago there was an island kingdom between Middle Earth and the Undying Lands in the West called Numenor. It was inhabited by mighty and wise people blessed with a very long lifespan. But Sauron tricked them into rebelling against the Valar and their island was sunk into the sea (a story that sounds a lot like that of Atlantis). A few of them who didn't participate in the rebellion escaped to Middle Earth and became the first kings of men. Their descendants are the Dunedain and Aragorn is one of them. Their life span is actually getting shorter because their blood is mixed with that of ordinary humans by now.
Remember to have some support for your feet, like a box or something like that. It will improve your sitting time. I personaly use a monitor box and works great. Love your reactions!
So.... Is there a return of the king one? Just asking bc I just watched all your LOTR reaction on a good insomniac night and I'm on a cliffhanger at 3 am and I think your reaction is the best I've ever seen
I FUNDAMENTALLY DISAGREE that you must watch the extended editions first. The theatrical cuts are the "pure" cuts, and the extended editions are there IF you want more. There are some legit satisfying payoffs in the extended cuts, but 95% of the extra footage is pretty skippable, and IMO hurts the final product, more than help.
@@Puggapillar For the first movie I don't think it's necessary, unless you want. I'd say the same goes for the second movie. But the third one has the be the extended version, imo.
I fundamentally disagree with this opinion. For instance, you missed the entire scene of Galadriel giving the various gifts to the fellowship, which would have explained why Sam and Frodo were not detected by the soldiers when Sam fell down the cliff at the gates to Mordor. Their cloaks were part of the gifts provided by the elves, and as such are magical, and have the ability to help shield them. I think there are lots of details in the extended scenes that add to the stories.
Who deliberately waits 6 months between movies when they don't have to? And so sorry you had to sacrifice your precious time to watch the greatest achievement in cinematic history. How more obvious can you get mining the LOTR fanbase for likes and subs...... grating.

Awesome reaction! Great call on treebeard! I hope the next one isn't 6 months away!
Waiting for Return of the King.
the chipping of gollum comment caused me to laugh out loud. good on you mate.
Viggo Mortensen had his 42nd birthday in 2000. I assume most of the filming occurred in middle of 2000.
Honestly, respect for calling both Treebeard's name and Gandalf the White _twice_
TREE TRUNKS AAAAAAAAAAAAAAH FUCK ALL THE WAY OFF 🤣
(I will now and forevermore refer to taking a shit as "dropping the hobbits off at Isengard")
OMG, you weren't kidding when you stated you needed a 6 month break to watch the second movie!
Extended version... well done Sir, well done! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 -x-
All I heard was two towers and I was like 👁️👄👁️
Don't worry. Tolkien hated the title "The Two Towers". He never decided which pair of two towers he was referring to. I think he was being petty since the publisher forced him to split LOTR into three books.
Really happy to see this, I was really looking foward to part 2, this is one of the funniest and most unique LotR reactions :)
Also I like how excited you get when you see actors you recognize ;)
20:05 They're rooted.
i remember getting traumatized by the bog scene when i was younger
It's about time 😂
Fun fact: the same actor who plays Gimli (John Rhys-Davies) also did the voice acting for Treebeard.
HE SOUNDS SO GOOD DUDE
What a fun surprise!
you should really react to last night in soho. (Anya Taylor joy starred in it) and im sure you'll enjoy it.
11:58 He worked in airport security.
Living for the atrocious puns here
You need to start watching movies with subs my man. Helps a lot when there is a lot of weird names.
Remember to have some support for your feet, like a box or something like that. It will improve your sitting time. I personaly use a monitor box and works great. Love your reactions!
Also try to reach a chair with back support, most of the gamers chair don{t have any back support. :)
It is interesting to see your reaction to the films Robocop and Robocop 3. This is a cool immortal classic 👍
This wasn’t about 9/11 at all 😢
😬
Arwen is 2680 years older than Aragorn.
ancient grandma pussy ☠️
So.... Is there a return of the king one? Just asking bc I just watched all your LOTR reaction on a good insomniac night and I'm on a cliffhanger at 3 am and I think your reaction is the best I've ever seen
Gandalf did die. God brought him back because Sauroman switched sides.
you've heard Grimal in other films a lot. He's just usually quite a bit shorter
I know 😅
11:18 MERRINNNNNN!!! The power of Christ compels you.
FINALLY AFTER MONTHS!
ill give you the third movie in another 5 months 😌
I love your videos please do one on "The Grudge" please please
Fell Beasts
Never forget 😆
😅😅😅
You’re Australian…we forgive you for the twin towers mixup. It wouldn’t be at the top of your mind. ❤
Do you watch these by buying or renting on youtube?
I FUNDAMENTALLY DISAGREE that you must watch the extended editions first. The theatrical cuts are the "pure" cuts, and the extended editions are there IF you want more.
There are some legit satisfying payoffs in the extended cuts, but 95% of the extra footage is pretty skippable, and IMO hurts the final product, more than help.
I'm so confused, do I do extended or theatrical now? 😅 I'm being told to do the other one now hahajhaaha
7:58 Chucky
come on man, you can´t take that long to watch a trilogy... it´s been 9 months since the first one...
noooo, the theatrical vefsion is the best ! 4 hrs is ridiculous
Watch rifftrax doing lotr
24:38 ... and she's hoping he's cunninglingual. 😜
The extended editions are unnecessary and overrated. They were cut down for a reason. But, try telling lotr fanboys that.
Who deliberately waits 6 months between movies when they don't have to? And so sorry you had to sacrifice your precious time to watch the greatest achievement in cinematic history. How more obvious can you get mining the LOTR fanbase for likes and subs...... grating.
lmfaooo
So happy it's multiple parts:)
I am not enjoying the editing process for these ones 🤣
