How are you feeling about MSFS 2024 one month later? Let me know in the comments, but let’s keep it constructive. If there’s something you don’t like, share what’s wrong and what you think can be done to improve it - this sim only gets better when the community voices its ideas.
Same here. I've got FS2020 on Steam and FS2024 on gamepass and while I've played quite a bit of 2024, I've probably put in double the hours in 2020 since 2024 was released. 2020's not as pretty, but is much more stable.
As a first time MSFS player with 2024, I think it’s disingenuous to recommend anyone buying this sim yet. Too often, I’ve been hours into a flight on career mode for it to suddenly get an unexplained error and kick me back to the Home Screen. Overall, I’ve lost about 10-15hrs of gameplay which resulted in zero progression due to this. And that’s since the most recent patch. In 2024, it’s unacceptable to release a game in this price bracket that is literally broken.
Sorry to break it to you, but MSFS 2020 was in a far worse shape for the first 2 years. You might not be able to recommend it, but I can. Yes, I've had some bugs, but it's now stable for me and I've spent close to 100 hours in this already. 😎🍿
There’s still a lot of issues needing to be addressed. It has improved from launch (or no launch) day. It’s actually playable now for me. I figure it’ll take 6 months to iron out all the bugs.
I agree. It'll be a lot quicker than MSFS 2020's launch, which probably took about 2 years to stabilize. First Sim Update will have a "flighting" to beta test before release. They never did that with 2020 until about 1.5 to 2 years in.
The bug that irks me is that in the Asobo Vision Jet, the hat switch on my Thrustmaster Hotas X, doesn't completely view the entire cockpit; it just pans to the left and back of the plane. Also, there is a black line on the horizon when zooming in ahead on cockpit window. None of this happens on the other default planes.
Nice to see a fairly positive video at last, I was on vacation when MSFS 2024 launched and was shocked at what took place, I am so glad I wasn't part of the launch fiasco, that must have been really frustrating. I have been using 2020 as my daily go to and still love it. I have been thinking of picking up MSFS 2024 over the Holidays when I have some time to have a proper look. MSFS 2020 runs extremely well on my PC (i7-12700K, 4090 & 32GB DDR 4 3600) I lock my FPS at 72 and the sim is superbly smooth so I am really curious to see what is in store with the new sim.
Although launch was frustrating, I capitalized on the 570+ group therapy stream! 🤣 I highly recommend 64GB RAM. At 32GB, you may have stutters when it gets close to maxing that. Check out my performance here: ua-cam.com/video/J8JnfxxoIHk/v-deo.html

I am loving fs2024. I think it helps that I have zero interest in career mode, and so the numerous bugs in that mode don’t affect me. The airstrip, the trail, and the building are all real (the building is some sort of research station) but so out-of-the-way I’d never expect to see them in a flight sim (well, except maybe for the airstrip) but here they were. Later, I was flying up the coast in a helicopter, and landed on top of a random ridge, and hiked down into the valley. There was an actual canyon with rock walls and a stony stream bed, which I hiked along until I reached Highway 1, where I could look out over the ocean and it looked basically like I remember from the one time I drove that route. So, one of my other rules is “get out of the aircraft and walk around whenever you can.” I’m definitely going more for the “virtual tourist” end of flight simming, but 2024 works wonderfully for that. Are there things I think need to be fixed? Sure! Lots! But am I still having fun? Oh yeah!

It was a fun mixture of photogrammetry and handcrafted buildings. ua-cam.com/video/T7ZEg-huXQI/v-deo.html I also climbed Mount Everest: ua-cam.com/video/9zPygFtZGHQ/v-deo.html Loving the walkaround feature!
I’m sticking with 2020 at the moment. For me the game immersion is spoilt by the constant stutters, regardless of the settings, the fact that there appears to be a memory leak somewhere which causes the frame rate to drop continuously throughout the flight, until the sim becomes unplayable. Some questions I do have also … why did ASOBO believe that the keyboard assignments that had been the same for past 30 years need changing? Why do they believe the pilot needs to remove the engine covers, chocks, static port covers and pitot tube covers on an airliner?
I agree. Is got issues but is still a big improvement over 2020, and is still a lot of fun. At the very least, let’s give the people behind the development time to sort out the bugs. They will eventually fix the bugs. Give them time.
I still have a pre order MSFS 2024 not downloaded. I was on vacation during debut download day. This definitely saved me. I have perfectly tuned MSFS 2020. I am waiting for people to tell me there is no conflict from 2020 to 2024 with marketplace files. I’m waiting for people to tell me 2024 is running great and stable no CTD’s. I’m waiting for people to tell me joystick and hot keys setup are a breeze. Until then it sits as a preorder.
I have never waited that long in the whole time since 2020 was launched. I assume your floppies were 5.25in? Please, don't exagerate. 2024 may one day be ok; currently it's a load of rubbish...unless you like taking pictures of the pretty animals when you are NOT flying in what is supposed to be a FLIGHT simulator.
I find it pretty unstable overall, if you get it working well you can have a good flight, but if you have to restart or back out for any reason it can be pretty unpredictable, recently I have twice had a CTD from the configure aircraft page, not exactly a demanding section. Planes have self shut down in flight, and verious other odd issues. Usuall a full reboot of the machine generally sets it back up, but it really does need tidying up some.
In my experience running 2024 in cloud gaming on XBox One, it’s hit or miss. Mainly a miss. I spawn into my PP check ride and can’t walk around or bypass the walk around. The controls are reversed or completely jumbled. Without changing settings, I randomly connected one session that worked fine, but I haven’t been lucky since. It’s not playable 90% of the time.
Like the Sim in general, my issue is that ,can not fly for more than 30, then desktop crash every time!!!! Have a high end pc,- good fibernet- always have my pc updated, and with no addons what so ever yet!! Wonder how common that issue is for other simmers??
Have you ever reinstalled it? They changed CDNs about 2 weeks ago. I reinstalled after that and my major issue was resolved. You could have missing packages due to the load on the original CDN. Your career and keybinds will keep. Hopefully that clears things up. 😎🍿
@@anbrod1 I installed it last week and get the same crash to desktop (GPU hung) within a minute or so of "Ready to fly". Brand new rig, AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D, 4080 Super, 64GB, 6000MHz RAM, 4TB WD Black SSD, Win 11 Pro 24H2
@@homehome1542 Hi. Sorry to hear you're having problems. Have you done any offline load tests to see if the system is stable otherwise? No overclocking temp checks etc. Hope you find the problem soon.
@@eddyg1794 weird thing is, Prime stress test passed no issues. Furmark test passed no issues. Stress test both CPU & GPU no issues. But MSFS 2024 crash to desktop within a minute or two after "Ready to fly". Every time. Reset BIOS and left EXPO off. Now MSFS 2024 is stable as a rock. Everything feels smoother too. I suspect MSI's latest BIOS for the MAG X870 Tomahawk is buggy
I wasn’t paid. I wasn’t even invited to the Grand Canyon or provided a copy of the sim. In 2020, I was provided early access to the sim, but never paid.
There are others that didn’t find anything good and asked for a refund so that they could capitalize on the viral effect it had on their video, knowing that they’d be in MSFS 2024 in a few weeks because they’re a content creator. Just breads negativity and a group of likeminded people. I’ve found many bugs and many frustrating ones, but I know that MS/Asobo aren’t in it for a cash grab or some tinfoil hat conspiracy theory. I haven’t touched 2020 since 2024 launched. It’s poor planning on their part for releasing it at the end of 2024, when their staff are off for the holidays so soon after release. Updates for bug fixes will start to ramp back up this week. Some stuff they can fix on the server side rather than client updates. I see this turning around much quicker than 2020 - which took over 2 years to get things somewhat stable. Will all bugs be crushed? No! It’s almost impossible to do with the vast number of users, systems, peripherals and addons.
@@SizzlingPopcorn you certainly mentioned some great points. For me I had the sim for over 1 month and only got 2 hours of flight time. I had no add ons, in fact I had a new build that was rated miles above the optimal requirements. My internet is a 1.5 gig up and down and very stable but alas it just did not work for me and many others. Your point about releasing the sim before Christmas break while presumably many staff are on vacation is well thought out. I hope if they decide to release another Flight Sim product, they will learn from this release.
Sticking with msfs 2020 for the foreseeable future as 2024 is absolutely awful on series X. Minecraft graphics and extremely poor lod. I'm in the uk and have 1gb fibre. Ive also reinstalled twice.
Still waiting to make first flight in fenix Ctd, super stuttering, etc using RTX 4090, i13900, 64 vram Perhaps you all might share a vid on your graphics card and MSFS 24 settings?
Yes, I have. ua-cam.com/video/J8JnfxxoIHk/v-deo.html Are you using GSX? If so, make sure it’s updated because I had issues before making the max settings video. Also keep the Fenix up to date because they released a patch last week. Let me know if that helps. 😎🍿
Of course you don’t have issues with top-tier hardware with 1440p in GA. But the 99-percent club might not have hardware like you. It shouldn’t be the case that mid to high systems are struggling to even take off with airliners from bigger airports. Not saying it is garbage. But currently really not enjoyable to me. Can’t use framegen because my 12 GB card is running out of VRAM. The optimization in VRAM usage must be priority.
I know plenty of people on 2000 & 3000 series GPUs that are running the sim smoothly. Just because someone has better or newer hardware than you doesn’t make them an elitist, snob or your enemy.
@@SizzlingPopcornYeah, I'm running on my 3070Ti, and it runs well. Some more optimization to do on my part, but overall, the performance is fine. It's a taxing game, and I accept that.
@@SizzlingPopcorn did I call anyone like that? It’s just that I was fine with my 4070 super (which is obviously not a bad card) and my 5800x3d. And suddenly that system struggles right after patch 3 to keep VRAM requirements below 12 GB. I had to tune down texture resolution to medium and start using upscaling. If I have to do this I dont even know how far 8 GB owners need to go. That is definitely bugged imo
@@SizzlingPopcorn I'm sorry. I was alluding to your term the 97-percent-club - just refering to a majority of users not using a 4090 series card. And many of them are experiencing issues. Anyway, nothing personal and nothing against lucky owners of more than 16 GB of video memory.
@@natedisrud I think it would help. I remember Sebastien (Asobo CEO) talking about the sim won't use 32GB, but if you have other stuff running in the background, you might hit that. He was getting stutters some times and said that is because his memory is low. You can check out this video, where I max my graphics settings and you can see how much RAM I'm using: ua-cam.com/video/J8JnfxxoIHk/v-deo.html
It will be great once the issues are ironed out. I’m in the UK and the servers here just don’t seem up to it. I have a great connection but only utilising 10-20mbps. I get horrid blocky trees, greyed out instruments on the in house aircraft, payware all seem fine. They need to allow local loading of aircraft and some some airports I feel.
I could write out a full spiel about how frustrating this game is in career mode right now but no one wants to hear it and i really don't want to be the negative cnut because I can guarantee in 6-12 months they will have fixed prett much everything and no one will remember how much of a balls up the launch was and how frustrating it could be. Every time i get the urge to buy new flight gear or make a new switch panel I play 2024 and it makes me save my money right now its that unenjoyable.
Really enjoying 2024 so far, but the career bugs begs the questions whether the team tested it before release. A complete lack of gameplay options on how career works also makes it seem a bit half-baked. Everything else is very good, from performance to graphics and immersion!
You, the customers were the UNPAID testers. Why pay staff when you can get customers to pay for a faulty product then get them to report all the bugs….FOR FREE😊
What bothers me about MSFS 2024 is bugs that were squashed in 2020 are now reappearing in 2024? Did Asobo not learn anything from the previous iteration of the sim? Come on.
I'm still disappointed that there was no way to migrate my device setting. As a matter of fact I am still unable to operate the sim. Microsoft could have put the effort into improving MSFS 2020 and made it better. There wss no need to reinvent the wheel. Wish I could get a refund.
Everything you said was EXACTLY my experience. Agree 100. Also deleted 2020, and am committed to moving forward with the progression. Side note: fs24 is WAY smoother. No more microstutters
Yes, that's right! No microstutters! I still have 2020, but really I should delete it. If some dev wants me to take a look at their new aircraft for MSFS 2020, I'll tell them to hold off and get their ass in gear to make it proper for MSFS 2024! 🤣
I'm the same i have both. I tell myself I'm keeping 2020 if I wanna fly a specific plane that's not yet in 2024, or when 2024 pisses me off with the 4th ctd I say I'm going to go back. But I never do i wanna fly the planes and do the activities in 2024

for the first 2 weeks the game was unplayable for me. as someone who livestreams on TikTok while playing it was essential to have a smooth game. this week i have streamed and played with max settings on. i think the game has massively improved in a short space of time already and they are still continuing to fix bugs. im enjoying flying again which is the main thing.
I do like the new sim better but I would not go as far as to say it is buttery smooth. Sometimes it is and sometimes it's just not. There are some airports (not even custom airports) where my frame rates just crash to like 15 fps with frame gen on. Most times it is in fact buttery smooth with awesome frame rates but as soon as I touch the ground or about to touch the ground in some places my framerate just crashes. It will go from around 100 FPS to instantly 20 FPS, also yesterday I had a crash to desktop. Does the new sim have problems? Oh hell yes! Do I like it better than the old sim? yes I do! Is it frustrating the crap out of me? Oh, hell yes! With all that said though this sim has great potential and will get there. To be honest I expected all this right from the get go, I expected problems with the launch like there is with any high demand product that ever hit store shelves, I expected big problems with the sim like there has been with every new sim to ever hit the shelves, I expected the problems we are having with our addons not working, I didn't expect the store wouldn't be working but hey you can't know it all lol. It is what it is and I am not losing sleep over it because this is the best I have seen in flight simulations for a very long time, it got pretty stagnate there for a while and seeing these new sims is a breath of fresh air. So for that reason alone I think the team over at Microsoft Flight Simulator need to be cut some slack. By the end of MSFS we all loved the sim, it will be the same for MSFS 2024. Instead of screaming at and cursing Microsoft and the sim the community needs to get behind them and help them help us, they have proved their willingness to work with the community thus far and I see no reason why they wouldn't want to do the same moving forward. I now understand why they call patience a virtue, a virtue many of us don't have. But it is a virtue nonetheless. We'll get there people.
I pretty much only fly airliners. I’ve attempted to fly the FENIX in the new sim 3 times and at three different airports. Las Vegas, Burbank, and Bentonville. Out of those three airports, the sim crashes when it’s trying to load at 2 out of the 3 of them. I’m not sure if that is an issue on fenix’s end or the flight sim. I also have massive stutters whenever I rotate and whenever I am on approach. I agree that the visuals are much better and the career mode is pretty cool, but when you can’t do what you love doing most in the sim, it’s hard to justify playing it. I’ve stuck to 2020 for the past few weeks to fly the FENIX, PMDG, CRJ, and ifly. I’m giving the A330 a try this weekend. I hope that goes well.
Fenix has been pushing updates each week (not this week). I’d try it again with the latest update. Are you using FT Vegas and Orbx Burbank? If so, try without. Haven’t heard anything from FT on their 2024 compatibility. Are you using 32GB RAM or less? It could be the issue with stutters.
@@SizzlingPopcorn yes, I’m in for some pretty big pc upgrades. Have a good cpu, but could use a better gpu, more than my current 16 gigs of ram and an Ssd to run the game on instead of a hdd.

@@mr_monkey818 Seems like the circling is user error. Not sure which inputs were given. Could be going back to waypoint or a holding pattern, but really, not enough info to provide a diagnosis. 👨⚕️🩺🍿
My issues is im still llaying on xbox series s system for now. To be honest msfs2020 plays ok. LOD & distances drawn & medium graphics at best. But all planes & airports are flyable. Msfs2024 is different story. Commercial planes like A321 or 747 or even Biz Jets at large aurports like JFK crash system. Even with photogrametry, live weather & real traffic tuened off. Still crashes. Bummer i know.
@SizzlingPopcorn Xbox S has 10gb ram Xbox X has 16gb ram Strange this is msfs2020 at least able to fly all planes and visit all airports without any CTD crashes. I thought the multi thread rework would've helped alot but either the advancements take alot more ram memory.
If Asorbo offer 50% refund I'd say that's fair. Or dd a dozen more sliders that pc has that Xbox users don't. I would rather turn down the planes graphics to at least play the sim.
😳🤦♂️PC min specs is 16GB. They say it won’t use 32GB, but it gets quite close and stutters at limit. I recommend 64GB for smooth sailing. …and they call this “optimized for Xbox Series X & S” 🤣

I’m waiting for people to tell me joystick and hot keys setup are a breeze. Until then it sits as a preorder.
30 to 60 minute loading times? What were you running it on, a 286 with floppy drives?
3 blind mice 🐁 🐁 🐁
600+ addons
Think i will give it a try! Cheers.

@@homehome1542 verify that the nvidia control panel doesn't have vsync set to "fast". I read online that this can be a cause of the GPU hung error. 😊

Reset BIOS and left EXPO off. Now MSFS 2024 is stable as a rock. Everything feels smoother too. I suspect MSI's latest BIOS for the MAG X870 Tomahawk is buggy
i still cant believe it was 1 month ago i was in school watching the live streams getting hyped
I wasn’t paid. I wasn’t even invited to the Grand Canyon or provided a copy of the sim. In 2020, I was provided early access to the sim, but never paid.
@ not suggesting you were paid but some others gave the sim nothing but glowing reports. I can’t believe they did not find any glaring bugs.
@@cosmo10973ify How is it that others on Series X have it running smoothly while some can’t? It’s the same specs. 🤷♂️

Yes, I have. ua-cam.com/video/J8JnfxxoIHk/v-deo.html
Are you using GSX? If so, make sure it’s updated because I had issues before making the max settings video. Also keep the Fenix up to date because they released a patch last week. Let me know if that helps. 😎🍿
Well still no mission is available for the cj4 and longitude
@pillowings “did I call anyone like that?” Your rhetoric. “But the 99-percent club might not have hardware like you.”

Yeah, Marsh keeps telling me that he can fly GA in VR but when he flies airliners, he has to go back to 2020.
@@SizzlingPopcorn I may have to buy 64gb of ram, currently running 32gb ddr5 at 6000mhz. Do you think this would help?
@@natedisrud I think it would help. I remember Sebastien (Asobo CEO) talking about the sim won't use 32GB, but if you have other stuff running in the background, you might hit that. He was getting stutters some times and said that is because his memory is low. You can check out this video, where I max my graphics settings and you can see how much RAM I'm using: ua-cam.com/video/J8JnfxxoIHk/v-deo.html
@SizzlingPopcorn okay, yeah that was my thoughts as well. Cheers!
They do. You can increase the size of the rolling cache from 16 to anything you like.
@ I have it set to 32 gb with repeated visits to the same airport it improves but should be better.
Aircraft downloading will come, most likely when the Marketplace opens.
I haven’t been to fly at all on Xbox SX because of a stupid mouse problem.
I heard rats 🐀 may be the solution.
In 6-12 months, the ones complaining now will still be complaining about something. Perhaps they’d rather a different shade of blue on the UI. 😎🍿
Really enjoying 2024 so far, but the career bugs begs the questions whether the team tested it before release. A complete lack of gameplay options on how career works also makes it seem a bit half-baked. Everything else is very good, from performance to graphics and immersion!
Yes, I agree that Career Mode seems like it hasn’t been tested and the lack of documentation is one of the reasons I restarted my career.
You, the customers were the UNPAID testers. Why pay staff when you can get customers to pay for a faulty product then get them to report all the bugs….FOR FREE😊
I have yet to see a single animal. And I've been looking for hours
Do you have them turned off in graphics settings (fauna)?
What bothers me about MSFS 2024 is bugs that were squashed in 2020 are now reappearing in 2024? Did Asobo not learn anything from the previous iteration of the sim? Come on.
I'm still disappointed that there was no way to migrate my device setting. As a matter of fact I am still unable to operate the sim. Microsoft could have put the effort into improving MSFS 2020 and made it better. There wss no need to reinvent the wheel. Wish I could get a refund.
They did improve 2020 with 2024. 2020’s code was limited.

@@lifeofprice463 Great to hear! Good thing you’re not on Twitch or else you’d have a hard time landing with a yoke that’s twitching! 😉

The tough life on Series S. How much memory does it have?
@SizzlingPopcorn
Xbox S has 10gb ram
Xbox X has 16gb ram
Strange this is msfs2020 at least able to fly all planes and visit all airports without any CTD crashes.
