Shanks was the greatest ever British manager. He was loved by all of his players. It would have been a pleasure to play football for that man. He would however have hated Modern football with its corruption and greed. Shankly was like every Scottish boy, and like the Queens Park motto he played for the love of the game. God bless the Shanks. We will never see your likes again.
Yes he was a great human being and all the teams were great iam greek but I grew up with all the English football of the 60s and 70s we had only 2 channels but every weekend we had all English football highlights of all the teams now I am 58 years old how I miss those days
What a legend he is Bill Shankly 15 years years as Liverpool manager made us the best team in the world in the 70s to early 90s then in 1992 Sky and BPL came along with their Money and destroyed English football forever FACT it's a shame we won't see that passion anymore in the game but I hope Jurgen Klopp who does have passion for the game can give are Liverpool player's what this club is all about and the game.
Do Liverpool fans know Bill had a brother that was almost as famous as his brother, Bob Shankly took Dundee F.C. to there only League championship win in the early sixties also took Dundee to the European cup, (as it was called in those days) semi finals, in 1962, Dundee won first leg at home, but we're beaten in second leg to eventual Winners Inter Milan amongst much jiggery Pokery in Italy..anyway awesome achievement for a provincial Scottish team, Dundee gave German champs 8-1 at Dens, amongst other great results on way to Semis, Bob Crampsey renowned and respected football brain in Scotland said the Dundee team at that time, in his view best Scottish team since war including Celtics Lisbon loins...God bless Bob Shankley.
Dundee also played Leeds Utd in the Fairs Cup (morphed into the EUFA Cup) in 1968 but lost. Nothing has been preserved sadly. Also Dundee UtD & Dundee FC are the closest grounds in the world ie just across the road & down a few yards.
If there are better words for perfect, those words would be Bob Shankly. Amazing story, person and brought an unbelievable foundation that makes Liverpool who they are today.
Enjoyed this education in football. Great man. Poignant at end when he retired. I guess he owed some quality time to his family for all the success and backing they gave him over the years. Thanks for posting.

Shankly definitely was a great man who wasn't arrogant and as he rightly said that he wanted to see Liverpool as conquerors of Britain and the world as a whole.3 league titles, 2 F.A. cups and one cup in Europe. It's no wonder that Shankly wanted Paisley his assistant to continue where he left off.As an Arsenal fan, I like Liverpool, because they were moral, mature and mild and the city love their football too.

As a Leeds fan of that era, what an absolute Legend you were Mr Shankley and true and dedicated honest manager I could listen to you all night long, you certainly were simply the best
i realise this is a video about Shankly, one of the true greats given what he achieved after starting off with next to nothing, but i can't help noticing that Leeds team in the 1965 FA cup final - included players like Sprake, Bremner, Hunter, Reaney, Charlton, Giles who were still playing for the club when they won the first division a full nine years later. Impossible to imagine a group of players in the modern era staying together like that. OK, back to the video about Liverpool.
We didn't call him a God for nothing and 46 years later 2020 and we have been blessed once more with a manager who has so many characteristics and effect not only on the players but on every liverpudlian blessed to be born in liverpool but around the world believe me as i'm old enough to have felt the emotion of what shankly made the people feel like and Klopp is the only manager since who has that same magic

Bill Shanckly a commencé à construire l'équipe, C'est juste, mais c'est quand même Bob Pailey qui leur a fait gagner des titres et donner un style de jeu (plus prôche des latins que des britanniques).
The queen never made the mistake of wearing the colour of one of the teams playing ever again. As the kop sang the queens wearing red the queens wearing red. As she came out.
+mizofan yes, one of the first things he did was change the strip to all red ,and as he said the team was everything not any one player "it's a form of socialism", sadly missed he never let the players forget who really mattered , the fans .
+mizofan I LOVED Shankly and Brian Clough....but Cloughie the great Socialist...!!...He took more bungs and Brown envelopes than all other Managers put together. lol Actually like MP Michael Meacher who was a renowned Socialist MP but he only had FIVE houses...Another wonderful Socialist..lol

Golden days of the game for me, players played for the love of the game and their club, and they wanted to play every game! Not like the majority of prima donnas that play now, only in it for the money and are out injured at every chance and for the smallest of things.
Interviewer.. Bill they say being a manager is one of the hardest jobs in the world? Shanks... Aye son,you could be correct, try being a debt collector in Glasgow..
Loved it. Thanks. ( Great to have some extended highlights in there). Great manager - great crowd - great teams. And what different times. They never practised a corner or a free kick ?! But ate steak and played five-a-side a lot. Haha. Being a Q.P.R fan who came to football during the 75/76 season, I always was a bit reluctant to look back and embrace the Shankly era, but it was worth waiting for. That last hour and a half was a joy.

Good documentary on the Godfather thanks Shankly, taught it’d bring up how he transformed Melwood & created the boot room that brought 3 dynasties of Shankly’s success & knowledge.
We sing YNWA like they did. With pride.
Fantastic. A true inspiration. Thanks for sharing
wow....I didnt know that Liverpool and Everton are like Celtic and Rangers....originally I was watching lubo moravchik and the link came up for Liverpoolool.....in the 60's you were truly a great team......give Brendan Rodgers a chance....he will turn the club around.....and Mr. Shankly? a very beautiful person that didn't mess his words he is a true Liverpool Legend :)
12:12 no wonder Liverpool were so good… they had a future 3 time European Cup winning manager running on the pitch, to help the injured player.
Bill Shanckly a commencé à construire l'équipe, C'est juste, mais
c'est quand même Bob Pailey qui leur a fait gagner des titres et
donner un style de jeu (plus prôche des latins que des britanniques).
Love you JEZU CHRYSTE ❤❤
The queen never made the mistake of wearing the colour of one of the teams playing ever again. As the kop sang the queens wearing red the queens wearing red. As she came out.
Let's get this right Keegan 1971-1977 not 1971 - 1976, OK? Good :P
Awesome video !!
Great socialist manager, like Ferguson, Clough, Stein, Busby...
+mizofan yes, one of the first things he did was change the strip to all red ,and as he said the team was everything not any one player "it's a form of socialism", sadly missed he never let the players forget who really mattered , the fans .
+mizofan I LOVED Shankly and Brian Clough....but Cloughie the great Socialist...!!...He took more bungs and Brown envelopes than all other Managers put together. lol
Actually like MP Michael Meacher who was a renowned Socialist MP but he only had FIVE houses...Another wonderful Socialist..lol
That's the name of the game !
Don't do as I do.....Do as I say......
good Information i knew about clough Labour party left wing,i knew about shankly Labour too,and ferguson.i didnt know about stein and busby...cheers from greece
Shankly was a leftie which I didn't know. It's no wonder he was so successful with a successful British club.
Met him when l was a kid, his aura was unbelievable. As a scruffy little scouse kid he made me feel as if l was the most important person there. He was with Paisley. Fagan and the first team but he made me feel ten foot tall (l was only 12 ha!)
One hell of a manger was bill and a honest humble guy whom talked to players a make them feel there was the best player of that era world beaters and some rose to that now u say that to all ur players its going to give them a great lift and play better for the whole team don revie was good friends will bill and both made there teams the best in Europe LIVERPOOL AND LEEDS WON LOTS OF CUPS IN THEY TIMES OF GREATNESS...
IVE A LOT OF RESPECT FOR LIVERPOOL AND BACK IN THE DAY WHEN LEEDS WON THE LEAGUE AT ANFIELD 20K FROM THE FAMOUS KOPP END STARTED SINGING TO THE LEEDS TEAM CHAMPIONS CHAMPIONS THAT NEVER LEAVES U AS A FAN WHEN LIVERPOOL WIN THE LEAGUE THIS YEAR I MYSELF WILL STAND UP AND SING CHAMPIONS TO U GUYS BECAUSE THE GAME NOW IS SO MUCH BETTER AND U HAVE TO BE SPECIAL TO GO ALL THEM GAMES AND BE THE BETTER THAN TEAMS AROUND U
COM"ON LIVERPOOL 3OYEARS WILL BE OVER AND THE PRIZE IS YOURS PS CHAMPIONS
He made us happy
After I Watched This Video I Became A Liverpool Fan Bill Shankly Made A Liverpool Fan, I Have Now Been A Liverpool Fan For 30 Years Now,

Outstanding.
I think he has
Klopp to become "shanks 2"...cos we love and respect him....and he will stay
Bill Shankley the best coach ever in history 👏 YNWA 🔴🚩Liverpool ❤️ Anfield 👊
Just a shame that there is no BBC footage in this. Still a great documentary.
There is plenty of Shankly with The Kop on You Tube, my friend..
Thanks for this video!
When is some CULTURED FOOTBALL THESPIAN going to put on
A NIGHT WITH SHANKLY
At the Edinburgh Fringe Festival???
Brian Dawson Edinburgh Scotland ❤
Van Dijk is Klopp's Ron Yeats
Golden days of the game for me, players played for the love of the game and their club, and they wanted to play every game! Not like the majority of prima donnas that play now, only in it for the money and are out injured at every chance and for the smallest of things.
The ghost of Shankly brought Jurgen
No Shankly, no Salah, Mane and Klopp!
That last hour and a half was a joy.
omg...highway is such a fantastic player.
