It's good to see you using the dutch-oven Gweggy. There are so many recipes you can create with this cooking tool. You might extend your fan-base with some yummy recipes using this.
Seems a few folks agree Gweggy! Can you just imagine Melissa swooning in your spotlessly clean crappy Gold Coast apartment on those freshly clean bed sheets after dining with you on a perfectly cooked, luscious Osso Bucco casserole with a side of garlic, butter & feta Potato & Cauliflower mash and green beans? I think we all can! Plus think about all the UA-cam money that cooking video would make!😯
a rice cooker is seriously one of the best kitchen appliances to buy. cooks perfect rice every time. rinse the rice, throw in the water, leave the machine to it while you get on with something else. i didnt buy my first one till i was 50 and have kicked myself ever since for suffering 30 years of substandard rice.
I can only take your word for the dismal weather in NZ, as I am yet to visit. But here in Brissy and down on the Goldy where Grego lives, the weather can get quite dismal!
Greg cutting the onion is why we all love him. Zero pretentiousness, just get the job done. I now have to say, “let’s sus it out” before I eat every meal.
I prefer chilli powder over cayenne, but both are good. I use what I grab at the time. Just don't rub your eyes after measuring out like you did. Guaranteed to end badly. Like, really badly. Speaking from experience. Ouchywawa!!! As for the stock cubes, always chicken, even when using beef products. Don't ask me why, because I don't know, but chicken stock cubes always work way better. I learned that from my late Nana. She was the kitchen guru, and had she still been alive, she'd have her own UA-cam channel, for sure. I do love that you do big chunks of onion. I thought I was the only one who left them big! I have only ever used red kidney beans in this dish, but I love the idea of black beans. I will definitely use them next time I make this! I nearly gagged when you dropped cheese onto it. I am a cheese junkie, but felt it to be so wrong. Then I thought, that might actually work with the sour cream, so I am definitely going to try that!
Very similar to my dad's chili except he used pre mixed chili powder and kidney beans.I add oregano if I make chili with beans,it removes the flat taste beans sometimes have.I also thicken with masa if its a bit runny. But that is still a good looking pot of Chili.
G'day Greg'o. Ahhhh.. the stuff Pirates are made of a good old fashioned homemade Chilli Con Carne. Looks fabulous. A few Corn Chips for dipping wouldn't have gone astray. Maybe next time. Just love a good CCC. Thanks for posting your delicious recipe today Greg'o.
So 3 years late, my simplest suggestion to up it a notch without getting cheffy - pour some grated, store bought packet cheese over the top of the whole pan of cooked loveliness then bung under the grill in the oven until golden brown and bubbling. Serve simply with sour cream, chopped spring onions and corn chips for scooping. Ok, rice if you want it but it dilutes the flavours for mine (and I love rice). Each to their own.
Looks spot on Grego... Although personally i'd have added some Goldenfry gravy granules to thicken the excess liquid, rather than let it evaporate. Then i'd have cooked some garlic bread to accompany the chili & rice. Well done mate. Cheers... 🍺
Looks sensational. Add dried coriander, red kidney beans, red capsicum, more tomatoes, 1 x birdseye chilli and 1 x jalapeno and it would be perfect 😋🤤 Days of chilli con carne, put it on nachos etc
You know how sometimes you open a tin of something and it's only half full of product and the rest liquid ? Not the case with Edgell black beans by the looks ;-) I have a tin of black beans I've been wondering what to do with , this looks like the ticket , thanks Greg .
@@roddevereaux1830 Exactly, its not a thing here. Even if Greg found a good recipe he would probably get ripped apart in the comments for not making it right!

Crock Pot, Grego? Surely it was a Le Creust cast iron round Casserole? It looks great, but I wonder could it be done in a Crock Pot or similar slow cooker ......
If you want to get adventurous, double the recipe and add a single Carolina reaper. Fresh chilli flavour and not mountains of heat (wear gloves when cutting up the chilli though, 💀💀). Love the recipe though 👌👌
Well done Greg it’s a winner and you know it’s good when you hear the piano 🎹
Lol 🤤

That looks great....😋 the folks in Cincinnati eat it over spaghetti noodles and back in public school they served it with peanut butter sandwiches👍🏻
Grego - buy a stick of chorizo and cut it into 3rds. I freeze the 2 I don't use and it brings one kick of a new dimension to chilli con rickos!

Hi grego do you ever put the rice in your croc pot so it all cooks together and thickens it up and flavours the rice even better

What part of GregO is the mince made from? Not any important parts I hope!
Grego saving 8 grains of rice then pouring his meal on the bench 🤣

As always you are making great food and witty comments, 8 ounces (Not that I smoke it) does seem like a good idea!
