I've heard running that trail right after it rains is a totally different story. It goes from ridiculously easy when dry to ridiculously difficult when wet. Like you, we were fortunate to do it when it was dry.
I did that trail last week when visiting wyoming. It was very pretty but was shocked by the trail itself. It seemed essentially a dirt road with a few potholes. I didn't even realize I was on the trail until I reached the lookout tower. I was looking for some information about the trail like the trails have in Colorado and Utah. No airing down necessary.
