In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.

I guess if I fish in Missouri, where I live, I have to update that area and if I travel to Canada then I have to update the card with the lakes in that area? I have the Navionics + US and Canada and use the Lowrance Elite 7 HDI.
I purchased a Hook2 9 and registered and updated the Navionics card but am still getting the blocky - no detail map for my local lake. The update for the card was originally under the 1GB requirement you outlined in your video but it still won't give me details on my map. Any ideas?
Do all hook 2 reveal triple shots accept navionics mapping? And mine only has the small SD card access.
I have a hook2 7 TS. It came with my boat package. My Lowrance seems to have the maps preinstalled without a card. Mine has a micro SD card in side. No Nav card was in it. Any Idea how to do this update download without a card on a pre install.

I have a Elite-4 with a Navionics card in it. I need to replace the head unit and transducer (electrical connector going bad N/Avb.). The card seams to be good and working. What budget unit (or combo) do you recommend I replace it with that will accept card? Thanks
I would recommend the Hook 5 reveal splitshot or the Hook 7 Reveal splitshot or tripleshot. The 7 Tripleshot has an option that comes with an updated navionics card as well and its cheaper to get it with the card than it is to update your existing Navionics card if you havnt already done so in the last year. I didnt used to really care for the Hook2 product line but the Hook Reveal had surprisingly good resolution on its sonar and structure and has a pretty fast processor as well. However, do not get the 5x or 7x models. They do not accept a mapping card.
Around the 10:00 mark when you are explaining how to grab up to a gig of data to transfer to the unit. Lets say I want from the Bahamas up to Wilmington NC. Would my Hook29TS save the data on the unit after I load the first gig. If it took 3 gigs to get all that data on the card would I just do it three times. I may be confused. The Navionics Plus card in Large I want is about $199.00... I thought that the entire bahamas and US would already be on the card with the same detail. Would I have to upload one gig at a time or is it all on there already? Thanks. Have mercy on me lol
So for the Navionics + regional card, its only 1 gig at a time. None of the data will save to your display. The units themselves don't have very much internal storage memory. So it sounds like the large card might be better for you. However, I am not entirely sure if the Large card will have all of the exact high level of detail for the full US or not. I have never personally used the Large card before. Just keep in mind that it cannot be larger than 32gb in size because that is the max size the unit can read. You might have to check with Navionics and see if the detail is the same or not.
HDS7 LIVE.has WiFi access.
To check for updates to the map. Can it be done from the HDS7 or ONLY via PC update?
I ask since the other inbuilt map has an in situ update.
Would be outstanding if the navionics card could do the same.

The unit itself cannot update the maps. It requires the use of the Navionics Chart Installer app to do that which has to be done on the PC unfortunately. It would be pretty cool if it did have that ability to do it through Wifi! But with Navionics being owned by Garmin now, I don't really see that happening anytime soon. But who knows.... stranger things have happened!
So after I download the installer app and plug in my card it never reads it what do I do?
I was wondering if there's a fresh water lakes and rivers that you can buy to use with the hook reveal 9 tripleshot, especially for georgia. Thanks.
I would first check out the free mapping software on genesismap.com. there are a ton of preloaded maps done by recreational fisherman like you that you can download per lake for free. They are high definition maps for the most part. Typically some of the best you can find if it's a lake that's already been done. Other than that u can check out the cmaps insight pro maps. I wouldn't recommend the HD maps. They don't work too well on that display.
I just got the hook reveal with US inland. I think this is preloaded on the device. Should it have come with an SD card?
Unless it specifically says that its coming with a Nav+ card, then its not going to have a SD card in the box with it.
I installed a hook reveal 7SS on my new tracker. I powered it on the same power leads as the stocked 4X that came with the boat was. It works good but when I accelerate to go on plane the unit turns off. Any thoughts???
The Reveal 7 draws quite a bit more power than the 4x. I would recommend rerunning the power cable with a larger gauge wire strait to your battery. At least a 16 AWG if not a 14 depending on the length of the cable.

I don't personally have a Reveal Splitahot to make a video with at the moment. However, the menu options for the split shot and tripleshot should pretty much be exactly the same with the exception of the TS having the Side Scan page to choose from. Other than that all the menus will be the same.

It’s keeps saying no plotter selected after I select lowrance ti 12.
Just opened a new card and said Subscription Expired but it was never activated. They now want $95 to activate a NEW card, never opened. How to fix this. Card in computer says 2018 but just bought it so it was old stock obviously. Any ideas
I have a Hook Reveal and it has navonics on it. Do I need to purchase the updates to get better quality charts or do I have to purchase the navonics+???
The navionics that comes loaded in the display is just a navionics viewer. It doesn't really have any real mapping to it. You would want the Nav+ card.
I have a question. I have a Navionics chip I have used on my hook 5. I am upgrading to a hook 7. can I use the same chip and just update it for the 7?
Yes you can. Altho If you have had the chip for over a year, it might require you to pay for another year's subscription to update it. However the card should just work in the display without the update.

I have a hook reveal 7 and live in NJ, fishing costal waters. What card can I use?
For that area, I would recommend the Nav+ regional card. The cmap insight pro cards are pretty good too, but I prefer the Nav+ for that unit cuz the processor can actually handle it unlike its predecessors the Hook and Hook2. But definitely don't get the Nav Platinum card. The Reveal can't process all that data and will make it lag really badly.
Hi, on my Hook Reveal 5 SS when I go to the GPS page it only shows white all around the boat, no water or nearby land shows. I even inserted a micro sd and still nothing. Any tips?
Sorry about the delay in response. I did not see your message till now. I am curious if you got an answer to this question yet from anyone. That unit should have plenty of mapping detail on it unless its the X series. X series only comes with a built in GPS receiver and shows you a blank white screen instead of a map. So if it says "5X" on your display, that's the reason. If not, and it is a combo unit, then I would make sue you are not zoomed all the way in. Other than that, it might just be a bad display.
Brendan Williams I’m having the same issue with my reveal 7 ss, no detail what so ever, when I turn the device on it says loading maps, but nothing.
Purchased a hook2 9 ts it was the store display. Was boxed and sold as normal maps not navionic. When I go in maps I can change to navionic. Anyway to get it updated I don't have the card?
All combo units that have built in malping will always have the Navionics option to choose from in the map choice. However, its just a Navionics reader mode, it doesn't really have navionics mapping preloaded on it. Its meant for inserting a navionincs mSD card into it and then you switch that mapping option to Navionics so that it reads that specific mapping.

Trying to install the Navionics Chart Plotter App...During install process, message come up instructing to "close Chrome and hit OK". After that is done and Chrome is closed, message keeps reappearing and won't allow continued install. tried re-downloading, cleaning out cookies, restarting computer to no avail...still same result. Even tried using diff browser (Firefox), and it still told me to close Chrome. Any idea on what might be happening?
Mine did that too, but you need make sure you don't have another tab open somewhere on google Chrome or it will not work as it did on my first attempt..
Also it took a couple of minutes after I closed all the google Chrome tabs down to actually work..

Hey I just recently got a hook Reveal 7SS it says it comes with navionics+ but I don't have a card in unit or one in box? Is navionics built into the unit? I can select it via the menu but it has very little detail.
It should have come with a card in the package. It would be in a small plastic baggy in the box. If its not there you will need to call Lowrance and have them send you one. Just make sure u have your units serial number handy when u do.

@@ronshort6497 The card will come in the full size adaptor so that you can plug it into your computer to update it, but the micro SD card just has to be pulled out of the bottom of the adaptor. You will see a little notch on the bottom edge of the card and you just simply pull down on it and the micro card pops out and you then use that in your display.
Greetings, if I click "Delete"...will it also delete my Lowrance Inland C-MAP Insight Pro markings, Data, Google Earth Pins, etc.?
Do you mean the saved data that you have on your navionics card?
@@nightanddaymarine8823 The data that has been saved on the SD Card in general....not necessarily the Navionics info because there I not any....just some Google Earth pins that were transferred onto the SD Card

It should. However, the last time I checked the Navionics website, the Hook Reveal was not listed as a unit to choose for the mapping but that was a few months ago so it might be there now. Also I like your username. Its kind of funny actually cuz I do these videos but I also have a business where I sell anime figurines and merchandise. So AnimeNfish is a pretty good description of myself as well! Lol

Its exactly the same. The only difference is when you go into the chart installer app on your computer and you select which display you have, you will select the hook 9 instead. Everything else is exactly the same.

Yes, it is read only. It does not save the maps to the display itself.
what is the smallest unit I can get that I can download gps maps to?
The Hook 5 Reveal is the smallest unit that can do mapping. Tho no maps a tally download into the display. It either reads off the mapping card, or comes pre installed.

I fish the Potomac river a lot it does show a few lines in the river channel only

It can be purchased at virtually any shop that also sells marine electronics or online. There are 2 version of the card. There is the Navionics Nav+ Regions card where you select a certain region of the country. However, that card cannot have the area of mapping changed on it like I show in the video. The second version is the Navionics+ Large card. That card can be used to get mapping for anywhere you chose.

Help!! I have no mapping on mine at all. It’s a hook reveal 7 triple shit. Do I need to buy a card ? When I go to settings i don’t see a chart option.
If you press your pages button and there is no option for Chart on it then I would call Lowrance. That means there is something wrong with it. Even the non mapping versions like the 7x still have that option.
@@nightanddaymarine8823 so when I hit the pages button I see the gps/chart for an option. But it’s just a white screen with an arrow. I’m being told I have the X version. I didn’t see an X on the front when I bought it
@@Nolawalltv ok then ya thats what it is. That unit doesn't have built in mapping. However it does have GPS and it can use your sonar to create custom mapping. Its the Genesis Live feature. As you drive around it maps it out for you.
Ryan, My Hook Reveal is on stopped and I am not getting a transducer signal. How do I turn it back on?
If you are not able to turn the sonar back on from the Power button menu, check to see if your getting water temp. If not, check and make sure your transducer is plugged in far enough. Make sure all three rings on the plug are pushed all the way in.
@@nightanddaymarine8823 Thanks Ryan for getting back to me. I did check to make sure the transducer plug with pushed in all the way but I remember I needed to turn the transducer back on. I just don't remember how I did that. Your help would be appreciated. I appreciate your videos which really helps me use all the features that I need.
I just bout the hook 7xts reveal when I tried to use gps nothing came up was just a grey screen with a cursor what do I need to do to make it work?
Unfortunately there isn't anything that will make the mapping work for the most past. It does have the Genesis Live overlay feature where you can record charts on the screen as you drive your boat around using your sonar. But that is the only way to get mapping on that display.
@@nightanddaymarine8823 yes I see that now the salesman where I bought it from said the only difference was that you couldn't rename your marks on the gps is the 7ts transducer the same as the transducer in this video
@@maddog3467 yes I am using the tripleshot transducer. Tho the salesmen was very wrong. You can rename the waypointa that you set on either display. The X series just doesn't do mapping in the traditional sense.
@@nightanddaymarine8823 they upgraded my screen for free becuase of miss information although they took everything out of the box is it suppised to come with a mapping card or anything?
@@maddog3467 not unless it specifically says that it has the Nav+ card in the package with it. When they send out a replacement, they almost always send out a display only in a plain brown box.
Is this a free upgrade? Or do we have to pay for upgrades after a year of registering it?
The free upgrade that you get when you get the card new is only for a year. After that, you will have to pay Navionics $99 a year to continue to use the full functions of the card. Its an annual subscription. I really like the detail that Navionics cards give you, but it is kind of crappy that they make you pay every year to use it. And it wasn't Lowrance's choice. It was all Navionics that implemented this. Some of the older displays like the HDS gen2T and older have software that doesnt require you to have to keep paying. As long as you don't try to update the card, it will continue to work.
Night and Day Marine I have two cards, one for front and one for back. So would that be $200? Or would 1 subscription cover both cards?

the support totally SUCKS and I won't buy another Lowrance unit ever! I've purchased 6 units to date starting back with the LMS-350's, but no more. This company along with many others has forgotten what customer service is. Good riddance
