    Excellent video. I planted a vanilla strawberry hydrangea tree this year. It has grown huge panicles which are magnificent. But we have had MANY heavy rain storms and the tree looks SO sad and floppy. You have given me hope that I can remedy the weak branches and help the tree so it will have smaller panicles making it less vulnerable to drooping. It is pouring again and I'm hoping none of the branches have broken. I've been trying to get out there between storms to shake the water from the blooms but I didn't get to it the last time. I love the huge blooms but I want my tree to survive.

      That happened to me last year during our thunderstorm...some of the branches broke at the base of the trunk. Hope your VS plants are okay.

    Hello tracy ,this what most waiting video from you, three years I didn't prune my lime light only lightly prune,now it got so big,became more Than ten feet tall, I was afraid to pruned,i saw your video, yesterday i pruned back,I got so inspired by your garden,last year i brought endless summer,i put in in the ground,can i dig and repot in the container, give me your suggestion, all your videos are very informative, still waiting for the video I ask you tracy,, thank you tracy,waiting for your beautiful flowers 🥰👍🙏

    • @TracysHomeGarden
      @TracysHomeGarden  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Sudha,
      You can dig it up now and repot it in a large container. The weather is very chilly this week so make sure to place the pot in a protective location (i.e. right up against the wall the house where it could get some radiant heat) and be careful not to damage those swelling leaf buds. Also, don't prune the stems until May long weekend. I hope I don't sound "mean" in the process. :-)
      The orchid video...the orchids are still blooming. I was going to wait until the blooms die and do one video about re-poting orchids and etc.
      Happy gardening Sudha!

Last year i almost cut them down to the same level as the remainder stems . Cuz they were really tall and kinda out of place against the remainder stems. But then I watched your video and it encourage me to wait until the spring. And see what happens. Which I’m going to see if I can separate it from the mother plant.. wish me luck..

    I understand its recommended one cut a branch/stem at an angle so rain water is easily shed. ...

    • @TracysHomeGarden
      @TracysHomeGarden  2 роки тому +1

      Thank you Lynn Marie Sullivan for this info. 💚💚💚 In our northern cold garden zone, I have always done straight cuts to reduce the amount of surface area exposed to the elements….thus, the cut will heal faster and reduce transpiration.
      Never knew that angled cuts “were” recommended…to provide slopes for rain water to slide down? How interesting. I wonder how well this works at “shedding” excess rain water. This goes to show that there are multiple ways to do many things in the garden. Happy gardening! 💚💚💚

      Hi Jeanette,
      Cuttings take an entire season to root...if you do this early enough in late winter (or early spring), you should have them cuttings root by August. In your warmer zone, your have much longer growing season so you can certainly root as early as March and have it well rooted by July. All the best.

      If you scrap the bark and see no green then you may have lost it. That is so sad as hydrangea standards are so expensive here in our area…many of them go for almost $200 per small plant. Hopefully the roots are still alive and send out new shoots? 🤞🤞🤞
