Raiders of the Lost Ark is a 1981 American action-adventure film directed by Steven Spielberg and written by Lawrence Kasdan, based on a story by George Lucas and Philip Kaufman.
It stars Harrison Ford, Karen Allen, Paul Freeman, Ronald Lacey, John Rhys-Davies, and Denholm Elliott. Ford portrays Indiana Jones, a globe-trotting archaeologist vying with Nazi German forces in 1936 to recover the long-lost Ark of the Covenant, a relic said to make an army invincible.
Teaming up with his tough former lover Marion Ravenwood (Allen), Jones races to stop rival archaeologist Dr. René Belloq (Freeman) from guiding the Nazis to the Ark and its power.
My favorite adventure movie since I saw it on abc at four in 86 and looks amazing on ultrahd 4k
The most underrated moment in this movie is the scene where you see Belloq swallow a fly on camera. It literally crawls into his mouth. If the scene were done today, you know they'd have CGIed that out, but I'm glad its there anyway. You can't fake stuff like this.
@@theantinatalismzone234 you can see it in a scene at the end of the movie where indiana jones is captured. its the scene where indiana jones is talking to belloq in the canyon during the daytime and he wants to kill him but decides not to.
@@theantinatalismzone234 although according to the internet, he didn't actually eat the fly but they made it look like he did...
Great points from start to finish, like all of your work!! 😊 I always learn new things from you about the movies and such. Nice commentary on a fun adventure movie!
The ending to this movie is perfect. I wouldn't change anything. If you had Indiana Jones escape and punch all the bad guys out, it might have been a good fight scene but would anyone remember it like they do with the melting faces?
💯💯
They literally did a time lapse photography of melting wax figures under a lamp for the special effect.
@@KaosNova2 that made it look so amazing. i wish movies were that creative today instead of using boring CGI for everything.
The fact that he closed his eyes and saved Marion by telling her to close her eyes too, IS doing something. He allowed the evil guys to destroy themselves.
in a way, his lack of physical action makes what he achieved even more powerful. it takes some reflection to understand that.

This movie is soooo iconic
I'm looking forward to seeing Indiana Jones 5 in the theater when it comes out next year.
I have watched Raiders Of The Lost Ark. I remember scene at the island where Nazis were going to open the Ark, then something went really bad. Evil spirits killed all Nazis, take them in the Ark.
17:07-22:10 Yup, when someone mentioned that Indiana didn't do anything that mattered in this film, I actually had to agree. When you think about it, Indiana could have simply sat down and let the Nazis simply open the Arc, it would have killed them sooner or later, anyway. So his contribution wasn't decisive. The Arc did that by itself.
I always thought this ending was too much. The melting faces and all, really felt like some horror movie or something. It didn't really belong in this movie, it was too graphic.
Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark is the best movie of 1981.
One nitpick is that the audience is confused on how or when the Nazis got a mistaken medallion.
Because the Nazi named Toht had half the medallion burned into his hand. You needed to see both sides of the medallion to get the right measurements though.
Love this film, it makes me mad they're doing a 5th Indiana Jones movie. There's also talks of Disney doing a TV show as well which is stupid.
there will always be terrible spin-offs and reboots. although i did seen a early trailer for indy 5 and it looked...not horrible. but they showed very little from the movie, so who knows.
The title change is stupid. They were all Raiders, including Indy. It's like saying Dirty Harry and the Police. Marty McFly and the Time-Travellers. Frankenstein and the Death Racers.
YMS admitted he reviews movies he doesn’t even finish which sorry not sorry makes him a hack IMO.
