Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is a 2008 American action adventure film directed by Steven Spielberg and written by David Koepp, from a story by Jeff Nathanson and franchise creator George Lucas. The fourth installment in the Indiana Jones series, it was released and takes place 19 years after the previous film.
Set in 1957, it pits Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) against Soviet KGB agents led by Irina Spalko (Cate Blanchett) searching for a telepathic crystal skull located in Peru. Jones is aided by his former lover, Marion Ravenwood (Karen Allen), and their son, Mutt Williams (Shia LaBeouf). Ray Winstone, John Hurt, and Jim Broadbent are also part of the supporting cast.
This will be looked at as a MASTERPIECE after the 5th one comes out.
Yeah the fifth film just looks like a bad fanfic.
Even though James Mangold is directing it and I liked his work on Logan
Now that I think about it, Crystal Skull has a better opening sequence compared to Last Crusade and a more memorable villain. Of course I like Last Crusade more for the action scenes and the chemistry between Connery and Ford but Crystal Skull actually does some things better
Wait more memorable than Hitler?
He's not the 'main villain' in Last Crusade, Jazz King...
After finding out the plot of that already awful Dial Of Destiny film, I now would rather regard this movie as a true conclusion. I did use to hate this film but I’ve gotten much more accepting of it over the years
What up Matt. I love your rants and reviews on Indiana Jones And The Kingdom of The Crystal Skull😂🤣😂😂🤣. Yes, the movie is underrated, entertaining. There are the moments where Indy and Marion break up after Raiders Of The Lost Ark movie.
I saw Indy 4 at the movie 🍿 theatre 🎭 to,cate blanchett is a highly memorable main villain 🦹♀️ for sure.
I love Indiana Jones the last Crusade the most then the 1st film then the 2nd film and I really enjoy those films and I still like Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
I think Indiana Jones 4 is underrated an it's very Good 🙂
We only needed three movies and they should’ve kept it like a trilogy and i didn’t see the fourth film anyway and i really don’t care about the new and the last one
Dude it’s his opinion Grow up
@@paulienuti8031 that is my own opinion too jack a**
I think this is underrated and a nice way to end the story
This film ended the franchise perfectly we didn't need a 5th film.
Agree
Much better than Indy 5, this respects the character and didn’t bring him down or humiliate him and a nice way to end the franchise
Great commentary Matt! I really like this film and agree in that it's underrated. I don't believe this story of the Crystal Skull and aliens is out of place for Indiana Jones. I think it fits well with the franchise.
Agree
I still got the three original versions on VHS
Rambo, Die Hard and Indiana Jones were all brought back for a fourth film decades after the third entry within a year of each other and in hindsight they really should have just let them all end there following the one last ride that they were given.
Agree
Hey Matt, before i start, any spoilers here for the new indiana jones?
One thing i heard about indy and marion...that's all i know.
I concur with Shia swinging with the monkeys. I don't care much for that scene. Everything else, I really enjoy.
Underrated Nah this Movie Sucks but will sadly be seen as a Masterpiece in comparison to Dial of Destiny Hot Garbage.
The movie doesn't 'suck'.
I don’t think it sucks it’s underrated and a nice way to end the story as it didn’t turn Indy into a loser
I personally do not share the intense hate for this movie. YES its got some of the most RIDICULOUS moments in the franchise but I still find to be a fun and enjoyable Indy adventure. Its also the first Indy film I ever saw so I’m not going to act like that doesn’t play a part in my enjoyment haha.
let me guess... compared to the new one? I still want to go back and watch the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles... think I'll do that.
I just rewatched for the first time in many years with your commentary and i have to say i thought this was pretty fun to watch in 2023. Theres a TON of parts I roll my eyes at and its way more fan servicey than the first 3 which feel more like actual grounded (yet still with fantastical elements) stories. This feels like a cartoon in comparison but it is still entertaining and yes the characters are respected. I think ita like a C+, maybe B- film if I'm being charitable.
I dunno what to think about the new one. Theres a such a drought of movies I have even a passing intrrest in seeing in the theaters (sick to death of superhero movies which is 90% of whats in theaters) that I'm kind of curious to see the new one with no expectations. I dunno.
Thanks for the commentary Matt!
Awesome Job Matt, personally I'm not a big fan of the Indiana Jones Films, cuz I don't like Indiana Jones 1 & 2 are boring, uninteresting story, Lackluster Action, I find them very Overrated Films & Bad Movies IMO, Harrison Ford & the other actors did a good job though, just don't like the movies, but I Love Indiana Jones 4, cuz it has the Best Action, Well Directed & Written, Harrison Ford, Shia LaBeouf, Cate Blanchett, & Karen Allan did a Great Job, Very Underrated Film, thats the Best of the Franchise & my Favorite, its 1 of my favorites of Harrison Ford, I Like Indiana Jones 3 & 5 are Ok they have Good Action Scenes IMO, Harrison Ford did a Good Job in both Films & had good Chemistry with Sean Connery, Sean Connery did a Great Job Too, but I thought 3 & 5 felt Slow At Times, Antonio was Wasted in Indiana Jones 5, Helena was a Terrible Annoying Character IMO they Actress Sucked Too, & I didn't like they made Harrison Ford's Character a Loser Too, Indiana Jones 3 & 5 are Time Wasters but there my Least Favorites of the franchise, very Flawed At Best
@rj skorenki hey matt what are your thoughts on ghost in the machine with Karen allen
I don't mind it.
This is a movie that really gets way too much hate for a couple scenes that could easily be cut out. I think the 3rd act is a bit rough with the CGI but the first two acts are classic Indiana Jones but in the 50’s. It still has a great ending though with the wedding.
Another franchise that's about to be ruined with the new film coming out. This one ended it perfectly
Not a die hard Indiana jones fan although I enjoy part 2 and 3 the most. I like the first and this one is just okay
What movies you like?
I really more then a Star Wars fan anyway then a Indiana Jones fan
I don't care what hacks say. Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is the *TRUE ENDING* of Indy's adventures, *NOT* Diaphragm of Diarrhea. After reading the plot leaks, all I can say is Boycott Dial of Destiny! #BoycottDialofDestiny! #BoycottDisney!
Agree kingdom didn’t disrespect Indy like new one did and new one is next last Jedi
@@Johnlindsey289 Fuck the Disney sequels! There I said it!
First half isn't too bad, refrigerator scene notwithstanding, but the second half is where it went off the damn rails.
Apparently, the new one's worse than this.
SPOILER WARNING
Synposis apparently reveals Indy and Marion divorced. As I feared and predicted turning Indy into the loser he is as the case with Luke, Dewey, and Bill & Ted.
And Mutt dying in Vietnam.
@Michael Menei After reading that, I was like “Ok, maybe some of us treated 4 too harshly”
@@dong.corleone I knew it!
@@dong.corleone To me, the fourth movie is the canon one for me. 5 doesn't exist.
I hate this movie
Why?
