In this video I am demonstrating the Tama HP900PSN Power Glide with Cobra Coil Bass Drum Pedal. So many professional drummers play Iron Cobra pedals because they give both power and finesse. If you are a rock drummer then you can get fast and powerful strokes every time. If you are a jazz player then this Iron Cobra HP900PSN Power Glide Pedal will give you everything you need for smooth playing.
A lot of great features come together to get that power and finesse. The Power Glide Cam is offset from the pedal board for increased power and speed. The Cobra Coil is a spring that is placed under the pedal board and helps bring the pedal back to its original position after every stroke. What is cool about that is you don't feel it happening but it does make a difference especially when playing with the heal down technique. The Oiles Bearing Hinge and Speedo-Ring eliminates a lot of the friction for fast playing. The Vari-Pitch beater is adjustable independently of the footboard angle to guarantee a flat hit on the kick drum. To finish off a great package is the Para-Clamp II which keeps your pedal flat on the floor, no matter the drum angle.
If you are in need of a new kick drum pedal or maybe you are looking to upgrade to a professional quality pedal then you should take the time to look into the Tama HP900PSN Power Glide with Cobra Coil. Your feet will thank you for it!

The first 6 or so seconds would make for a great intro to a new channel trailer!

How can a single adjustment improve two opposite things finesse and power. The cam helps power but not finesse. Finesse is round cam.

Hmm, this one or the smoother Rolling Glide - for jazz and funk/Latin?

I'd consider the speed cobra because it has the rolling glide cam plus the longer foot board feels great for heel down for jazz. But see if you can try them first always when possible p.

He said it increases finesse and power? Nah it increases power but not finesse. The rolling glide increases finesse. Not saying u can’t play finesse with the power glide but if that’s what your goin for go with the rolling glide since it’s a consistent motion. The power glide is all about volume and power and the big thump and inscreases speed and power towards the end of the stroke cause of the offset. Same thing the speed cobras have.

I have the latest version of this pedal. I suggest trying it before buying. IMO Tama is only 2nd to Yamaha when it comes to hardware. However the new Iron Cobra is too hard to control. If ya keep next to no tension on your batter head, it's okay, but there are much better pedals out there. The old Cobra 300 is far better IMO

I intended to buy latest Iron Cobra Power glide or Rolling glide, but never try them in person. Your comment makes me think to give up. It's interesting that my current "no name" single pedal is very easy for me to control it (on my kit). But on the kit in rehearsal studio it's painful to play double strokes whatever tension I set on the bass drum head.

You confused the footboard heigh with the beater angle adjustment

Can someone please inform me on what the cobra coil does ? Like I get what it’s used for but how do the settings work

    • @SJC9726

If you move it towards the beater end the pedal feels heavy, if you do he opposite it feels lighter and returns quicker. It has a surprisingly large effect on the pedals feel

Along with the cobra coil is some kinda foam stick under the footboard. Do you have it? If not, just cut out a piece of paper and stick it under the foot board. It will eliminate the small sound

Worse case by a new one, they only like ten bucks.

the noise appears after you touch with fingers the coil, it's caused due to lubrication loss, so if you buy a new one keep in mind to not touch it

So I went I went to the store to look at this pedal and try it out...I needed up leaving with a $200 dw 9000 pedal and I have never regretted something more in my life than buying that pedal. The worker kept pressing me to buy it and said it was a good deal and the iron cobra wasn’t worth it at $175. So I tried out the dw and thought it was good. But 4 months later I feel like my foot has gotten speed and power has gotten worse😐

Clnt874 rolling glide is more smooth and fast while the power glide has speed and power

@@KarlstadDrums I prefer rolling glide pedals, I think the name power glide is misleading. It’s not so much that it’s more powerful as much as it is more torquey.

@@kevinbothwell8425 I actually own two iron cobra power glides now. One single pedal from last generation and one brand new double pedal. They are really smooth, just enough resistance in my opinion(Never even touched the settings) but haven't tried the rolling glide yet though

+David T.. A few-- From personal experience, heavy as hell..No anchor screws on the bass plate to keep it from sliding or even with ground surface pedal position.
However, a very smooth and quick pedal..Perfect pedal for heavy footed players..
