I’m sorry to say but PHILIPPINES should NOT think nor try holding the OLYMPICS.. I can only see a BIG waste of MONEY holding a world sports events that is only for 18 days. MONEY could be spent for a MUCH BETTER PURPOSE to HELP THE WHOLE FILIPINO PEOPLE.

I guess TO IMPROVE THE SYSTEM OF FILING BUSINESS AND OTHER IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS is the key to improve the economy of the Philippines.
Computerized Drivers License, Passport, Voters ID and all necessary documents.
Foreign Companies don't like to spend a lot of time waiting for their business papers so eliminating other steps in filing and computerization is the key to improve our economy.
Until 1987 Constitution remains in power we will never be!
philiphines once have been asian tiger following malaysia and thailand. but for some reasons, philiphines economic growth has slow down to the same level as a upper middle income nations typically achieve... for me, i studied asian economy in college, think that philliphine lack of economic policies... most of the asian tigers focus on export-oriented industrialization while thailand mix export oriented and domestic market development.. philiphines however showed no obvious economic focus about what they want to be as a newly developing nation... i believe asean economies will achieve bigger market than europe and much efficient, but we really need better leaders...
Work ethics and competence of the people has been for a long time very good in the Philippines. Investing in the Philippines is very good value in terms of cost and the quality of the products and services the people can produce.
It has always been government and institutional corruption that has been the issue. Over recent years it is very good to see that the current President (Aquino III) and his officials are addressing the government’s ethics and governance issues.
I guess the title should be - CAN PHILIPPINES BE AN ASIAN TIGER AGAIN? We already did before, and now it's time to bring it back again

Not unless the people in poverty is gone or just few remained and more organized system is implemented, then I can say we are an asian tiger but from what I'm seeing is that its only the economy that develops. Nothing else. Nothing from poor people and nothing from the discipline of the countrymen.
We still have a long way to go. But if we continue to be consistent in terms of growth and if we are able to address the major obstacles such as infrastructure, attract more foreign direct investments, peace and order etc.,perhaps in the future we may get there , in terms of being a tiger economy, who knows di ba?...

Awts all the negative comments breaks my heart specially if its commin from our fellow filipino. Why dont ourselves to see if we are doing something to help the government? Instead of throwing shits? We can do something to help the government by simply following the laws. It should start from us individual before it can affect the entire nation. Be positive. That forum held back 2011 then came 2013 our rating went up to 3B (BBB). First time ever and that the indication that we are on the right..
In the list of 25 countries the most corrupt thanks God Philippines was not included with those 25 most corrupt countries. Bog-bog na ang ating bansa huwag na nating ibaun, duraan or yurakan yet sikapin natin na ang ating sarili ay makakapag contribute ng kahit maliit lang para ang ating bansa ay umunlad. AANGAT TAYO YAN ANG PANINIWALA KO di pa naman lahat ng pinoy ay masama marami pang natitirang mabuti at nag mamahal sa bansang Filipinas.

Philippines will never be a tiger in Asia : 1)Has the most corrupt officials in the gov't 2) Can't provide jobs for it's own people 3) not as good in technology as Japan , Korea, China 4) hard worker but can' t provide employment. 5) No discipline 6) Do not know how to do business with honesty.

Vivian Rodriguez I certainly do not know where you are now and I noticed that you specifically emphasized skills in speaking English. I came from a hardworking family just to go to school through college. I for one became successful plus my other siblings and continued my education here in the US,the hard way and now retired somewhat comfortably. In the Philippines, I had watched and seen children from the remote trying to obtain their education without slippers or shoes walking from the hillsides and wading through rivers just to get to their schools, same thing with teachers. Children go without any snacks or meals to eat, some chose to skip classes to help their siblings and support their aging parents to work in the fields and farms which are not even their own. A mother for example carry ice on her back by walking to sell them at a certain store, a father carries a big basket of cabbage on his back walked down the hills just to send her daughter to school so as not to disappoint her. Another one has to borrow a pair of slippers from a neighbor, same thing just to go to school. What I had watched, for me is heart wrenching, all I could do is shed tears, I wanted to help but bureaucracy hinders me to do so, I am not young anymore but I am thinking of a way on how to. May I ask you, is this your norm on dealing with other people, if they cannot speak English, they are a bunch of $&@);:/. I admit I am not a 100% good in English, not good in Math but I know how to treat people with dignity, generosity and love for the Philippines and the Filipino people. Be blessed...😍😍😍💐💐💐🇺🇸🇵🇭
