It’s so ignorant and selfish. So aggravating because they don’t have to worry about it daily so they can ignore it. When people say something doesn’t exist or they don’t really like to worry about it is quite a funny way to say “I don’t have to care about my rights or safety because it’s always been given to me automatically.”
Well they're correct. There are plenty of people who don't care for homosexuality, but that isn't a condition requiring a term. Calling it a phobia is ridiculous. We don't call dislikes phobias.
@@bevcrusher4177 since these terms are fabricated from society and culture, yes it does exist. it takes on a new meaning, not like the anxiety disorder that causes “phobias”. it utilizes the word “phobia” to describe that people deep down are scared of things that are different than them and in turn act out in foolish ways (like calling people slurs). language is not always just merriam webster defined.
Yeah, as someone who's been nearly hate crimed for being with their partner, it's not fun. We've gotten plenty of stares and ugly looks (we live in a very conservative area) and a few "f*cking d*kes" throw at us. And all we're ever doing is holding hands while we walk.
its bc those people are sad individuals who will never achieve anything in life and will be once forgotten when they die. they start shaking with rage when they see someone in the lgbt, who is achieving and living life to the fullest, and realize that they can do everything better than they ever could.
The fact that he had a crush on a boy and his friends told that boy, and not only that but this boy punches him Is SOOOOO horible and heartbreaking. I was on the verge of tears when I heard that. RIP
This put me in tears. Someone’s sexuality has NOTHING to do another person. He was being himself. He was comfortable . He was happy with himself. Not many people are comfortable in their own body. What a miserable person someone has to be to torture & murder him! He didn’t deserve what happened AT ALL.
Exactly. It shouldn't concern you who the person loves because love is love. If I knew this guy and was his age, I would've loved to be friends with him. We probably would've gotten along great. I wish he would've been able to live his life and not having it end before he could've found someone who made him happy
I dont get why people are homophobic if you know your straight what is someone being gay gonna do to your straightness thats why i think homophobic men are closeted but are scared to come out because of this disgusting world we live in.
the fact we have a poc & lgbtq member case has me with mixed feelings ): i’m happy we are covering these cases but it’s so upsetting these cases happen
Hmmm, just to address a couple of comments I've seen accusing me of deleting some people's comments about this case - UA-cam actually holds your comment from being posted if it identifies that you've used hateful or threatening language in it.... Maybe that's why.
Also, while I'm here, I appreciate those of you that have commented to correct my description of gender fluidity/non binary/trans terms... You can do all the online research in the world, but nothing will teach you as well as an explanation coming from those people themselves - so thank you! I feel lucky to have such an understanding and polite audience - and I thank you all for being so kind with corrections as always Xx
You're deserving of kind audience! Maybe even a bigger one! This is definately the best true crime UA-cam channel I have seen and I am happy to be a subscriber!
This case was hard, but I loved how you held respect for the LGBTQ+ community and went through the trouble of explaining the terms and making sure they were understood.
@@qtbubblez5803 it does in situations like this, quite often poc murders don’t get taken seriously or get solved because of the systemic racism. this means that when true crime youtubers cover cases like this, especially unsolved ones, it can bring these poc to justice. in this i’m not saying that cases involving white people always get solved or taken seriously i’m just saying that it is a very big and real issue in today’s world.

I really love how you presented this case. You gave this young man respect. You gave the victim a voice. And you explained his sexuality in such a respectful way. You’re the best, Eleanor.
I will never understand how people can kill someone for something as stupid as their sexuality, gender identity, race etc. like how can one person foster so much hatred.

i really just don’t understand how people (especially men) get so angry when a gay and/or trans person says they like them like ??? how is that an insult to you ?? and if you think that’s weird or ruins your masculinity or whatever you have to get tf over yourself
If it were a girl who approached them and said they liked them but the feelings were not reciprocated they certainly would not punch her in the face for it. A reasonable person would be flattered, kindly say thank you but I do not feel that way, and move on. But no. People have to be violent and hateful because someone is different.
@@emileelamica7701 thats not true. "Ugly" girls most certainly would get shit too. I was kicked in the vagina for having a crush on someone in highschool. Like enough to bruise me. I still dont understand why anyone would react with violence if a man or a woman expresses their feelings for you, i agree with you there
I don’t get why people get so pissed when people are different from them. Like how am I affecting you because I’m gay? Why are you mad that I’m gay? How does it concern you?
I can answer that question: I didn't know that there were different sexuality or pronouns. When I did learn about it- many other kids has already had certain bias towards people who were associated with different sexuality. They were very mean and making mockery of them. It's gotten to a point where someone would be bullied and harassed for being different. I have gotten influenced and gotten the mentality being different was bad or forbidden. That continued for few years until I have learnt more about different sexuality and pronouns from my partner. My partner helped me see through that disgusting mentality and helped me realise that being apart of different sexuality does not mean something bad. I shouldn't discriminate someone because they have a different sexuality. Since then, I have been learning different sexuality and pronouns- I try to use the pronouns that makes an individual comfortable. I do not have any discriminatory thoughts towards someone of a different sexuality thanks to my partner. I will try to help others realise this as my partner helped me so there are less people to suffer through harassment/bullying for being different.
One thing I don’t understand is why people are homophobic/transphobic etc. Is it that hard to support people under any circumstances or be kind to people?
In my opinion a lot of times its cause their scared of their own feelings. They aren't able to live freely so they hate people who do. When you "come out" its cause u know exactly who u are. When u hate someone for how they live their life i think its cause their not living their true life.
I ask myself the same question every day.... I’m gender-fluid (they/them and he/they) and I’m questing my sexuality about liking men and I ask myself every. Single. Day.
I found her facebook. Damn she loves her children (as any mother should) She’s so strong. Along with his siblings. He was comfortable to be who he was at home & honestly not everyone in the community has the chance to do that. That alone boosts my respect for her by a million !!
I love that Eleanor made a genuine effort to explain the difference between genderfluid and non-binary, and as someone who identifies as both, It's very accurate!
Had this video on my watch later for a little while now and as someone who is also fluid and trans non-binary I couldn't agree more! Eleanor did amazing and was so respectful! Thank you so much for validating both identities; Kedarie and Kandicee in the video! May they rest in power!

@@poppie188 Okay so I might be TOTALLY wrong and I hope one of the folks in the comments feels comfortable correcting me if I'm wrong! But I looked it up because I was also curious, and it makes a ton of sense when you read the definitions! Non-binary doesn't mean "genderless" as much as it means "does not associate as strictly male or strictly female." Gender fluidity varies in both identity and expression, so some people may express themselves fluidly while identifying as male or female. However, there are then folks like Kedarie, who sometimes feels male and sometimes feels female, and his identity changes on some days as well when he may feel extra feminine and identify as Kandice. PLEASE correct this if this is incorrect! You will not hurt my feelings lol.. Not looking to spread misinformation but I was curious myself and wanted to share what I found so we can hopefully all be more educated and inclusive.

@Rochelle Gomez umm he was accepted by his white peers and the hate he got was from other POC. Privilege had nothing to do with this. He was murdered by Homophobic POC

@Cian MacGana No one is talking about death penalty. We are talking about a person murdering another person because of their sexuality. Respectfully, if you want to discuss death penalty and abortion, make a new comment so you can open up that discussion. Let’s not get sidetracked here.
Can we talk about Kedarie’s/Candance’s friend? She gave him/her one of her bras bc Candance didn’t have one. Bras can be expensive, but the fact that she supported her friend to gift one is such a pure act of kindness to me. Rest In Peace Kedarie. You will not be forgotten 🙏🏼
My father was raised to be severely racist and homophobic, but since I came out and he’s been exposed to other views, he’s become a strong ally. I just wish kids were raised to be accepting and choose their own views.
As a lesbian who has encountered homophobia, this is really disturbing to me. I don't understand why people are so hateful toward the LGBTQ+ community when our sexuality doesn't concern you at all 😶
Ikr? I'm also a lesbian and I personally don't have a problem with people not supporting the LGBT+ community. If someone doesn't support it, that's fine but actively discriminating against the LGBT+ community is just so disgusting.
the only time someone's sexuality concerns me is if I am looking at them as a potential partner, then it is "Hey, are you interested in dating" "yeah sure" or "no thanks I'm not into women" then it ceases to be my concern.
honestly the hate people get , at the end of the day love is love , love isnt gender based at all so why does it bother people , im bi and no one in my family knows because a lot of people dont understand i just hope one day even if its hundreds of years from now that people see lgbtq as normal and accept it
I genuinely will never be able to fully understand why some people think sexuality and ethnicity concern them. Ethnicity and sexuality is absolutely nobody’s concern and is never an issue, yet people try so hard to somehow make it an issue, specifically their unnecessary issue. 😐

@Ana MX babe you are so uneducated its literally embarrassing i see you are not going to go and actually educate yourself so there is no point in anyone interacting with you.
@Ana MX gender and sex are not synonymous. In terms of language, they compliment each other because people have been using them incorrectly for a long time. Your reproductive organs may make your sex biologically "male" or "female". Just because you are born with these organs, doesn't mean you associate or identify with social gender norms. i.e. things we may now call sexist (boys like beers, cars and fighting vs girls like glitter, make up, cleaning). I think everyone deserves to like what they like and be whoever they want to be. Life is too short and humans are far too complex and interesting to be split into two categories and we should embrace individuals who truly love themselves. Respect and love those around you.

Hey using they/them pronouns are usually most proper with gender fluid or nonbinary people highly recommend using they/them instead of (him/her) cause it doesnt come across the way you intended it and I feel like you didnt mean it in a rude way so thats probably a better way to go about talking about people just using they/them pronouns or just refer to the person by their name to avoid pronouns as well if that makes it easier for you.
There will unfortunately always be hateful people. And society has been in a mess about sexuality for hundreds of years (I blame the Dark Ages and Victorian "sensibilities" for a great deal of it). It will take much more time than only a few decades for human beings to truly understand that love is love. Too much work was put into the education of hate.

Exactly! As long as they're good people, it shouldn't matter who they are or who they identify as; live and let live and just get coexist!

I can answer that question:
I didn't know that there were different sexuality or pronouns.

@@rsukut5866 Thank you very much for your kind words! I'll be honest I don't understand or know a lot about these new and different terms but I'm learning bit by bit, and as long as the individual is happy and not causing any harm that's the main thing. Xxxxx
I’m just learning about non binary people and I subbed to a person who’s non binary and that helps me learn
I can't begin to imagine the pain a family this close feels
As a mother of someone who is much like that sweet child, this case absolutely breaks my heart and scares me to death. Just devastating. 💔
this is one of the most heartbreaking cases I've ever listened to...his whole life taken away from him simply because someone didn't like how he was being himself...that's just heartless
Her understanding of gender terms makes me feel very comfortable and special.
Man seeing the funeral and the tone of it made me cry. Kedarie seemed so wonderful, and even though I didn’t know him, the world lost a little light...
As another genderfluid, it really means a lot that you’ve covered this case :) thank you
oh hey! i found a fellow genderfluid :)
Hello fellow genderfluid human! ❤
OK but can we all just really appreciate that she took time to explain what these genders mean so nobody was confused, and she respectfully called him/her Off their gender by what day they wanted to be who and I think that’s really sweet and respectful!❤️
No😂😂😂
@@venessam4907 yes
This!!
Man, talking about that funeral had me welling up. How loved Kedarie was.
I was just gonna say.. 😭💜
Half the people at that school made fun of them it’s a Burlington thing or sum if someone dies everyone knows them it’s sweet yes but a lot of people just wanted to do it for clout they had a more private wake thing with an open casket
I love how Eleanor uses these tragedies to educate (in this case about lgbtq+) as well as tell the story of the families life. Seemed like a beautiful family.
The positivity that you give off even though its such a dark topic, is amazing. The way you explain gender fluidity and being non-binary is so clear and articulate. Love your videos,
I love the pronoun and gender lesson in the middle, she did a really well job of articulating and explaining the differences
The fact that people are arguing if LGBTQIA+ people and people of color really deserve the right to be themselves is disgusting. I fear we’ll never escape the never ending rabbit hole of “this person wants to be themselves and i think that is wrong” and this comment section proves it. If you have a problem with these minorities *why are you here.* no one, literally *no one* is forcing you to click this video and argue with strangers on the internet for their right to happiness.
Where did the qia come from?
@@briemarie8216 what?
@@briemarie8216 ohh i get it- q means queer, I means intersex, and the A means asexual! The plus means there are more :))
@@r04dk1ll2 oh okay, thanks for explaining

This happened in my hometown, they still decorate the memorial where his/her body was found and the garage is painted there, thank you for sharing this tragedy, I’ve been watching you for almost two years. Kendarie was a such a beautiful soul and his/her story still haunts our town.
Only people who know that she put this video on private can like
yup
HAHA SAME
YEP-
I was soo confused lol
Me lol
Still not sure why you haven’t been offered a podcast on Spotify. You deserve a hella deal, I wouldn’t miss this opportunity if iwu Spotify!
This breaks my heart, someone’s sexuality or race DOES NOT concern you. To this day in 2021 there are still people out there who kill and hate on people for their sexuality and race. What a horrible world we live in.
May he/she Rest In Peace ❤️
i love how you’re so informative yet so respectful and you represent all the information in a way that’s so easy to understand also you are absolutely stunning and have the purest soul
I'm so glad that there's a content creator that promotes speaking up against violence/discrimination against minority groups even in true crime, I love your videos💕
As a Non-binary lesbian person. I feel for this person. Kedarie sounds wonderful. They didn't deserve this
When Eleanor was talking about the funeral I just wanted to cry
as someone from burlington, it's so nice to see bigger channels covering this case. i was so happy to see you post this video. thank you so much.
i have to say that unfortunately when you’re a POC often your family can be quite unaccepting, despite this being such a sad story, it made me happy to see how supported kedarie was while he was alive.... his short life was filled with love, even as he dealt with such awful homophobia :(
Imagine having such a miserable and uninteresting life that you have to focus and become obsessed with someone else’s sexuality. Imagine then going and murdering them for it too. I don’t fully support capital punishment, but hate crimes are a special kind of heinous.
this case really touched me, he seemed like an incredible person with such a kind soul. rest in piece Kedarie, you are loved and missed by so so many people :(
I've lived in Iowa my whole life, and unfortunately there are still many people who just aren't accepting of us LGBTQ+ individuals. This case is heartbreaking
The murderers werent from Iowa
This case is from my home town!!! Seeing this brings me to tears, it was so emotional for the entire town when he was murdered and I wanna thank you for covering this case and not letting people forget
The way you explained gender fluidity makes my soul happy. You have so much compassion in your heart. I live in a rural place and the most diversity i see is a man driving a Chevy instead of a Ford. I want to learn and be educated. This wonderful human did not deserve the cruelty he suffered.
😂😂😂😂
I love how his family and especially his mother was so supportive.
same! every parent should be like that. i will always accept my children for whoever they decide to be. and i will also teach them to respect other people who may not be the same as them.
Hi, as a non-binary person I love how you described all the terms. I love how you validated each persons gender identity and sexuality. Thank you for your videos as always
As someone who is genderfluid, this was really heartbreaking to listen to. Your own sexuality and gender identity is no one else's business. People really don't get that sometimes.
BTW Eleanor, genderfluidity is actually under the term nonbinary, nb doesn't just mean you're they/them, it's an umbrella term that holds terms that aren't exclusively masculine nor feminine but can be grouped with either.
Really baffles me that people are willing to kill someone just because they're not their idea of 'normal'.
Really baffles me that people aren't okay with sexualitys, gender orientations etc, (which are not a choice) but are fine with *killing people* (which IS a choice)
kedarie sounded like such a wonderful human
Eleanor taking the time to explain the different terms of sexuality and how different people identify themselves shows the level of respect that made me subscribe to her in the first place. 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
