    Great information, but here’s an embarrassing question 😀-
    How do I add a shorter rod/section for dresses? know I’ve seen this done, but I don’t know how to attach the “dividing board” to the wall behind it? Would I use the same concept you used here (attach the vertical dividing board to a horizontal section that was previously attached to the wall)?
    A design like this-
    Divider Rod for. .
    Rod #1. Board. Dresses. Wall
    --------l---------------l
    Rod #2. I. I
    --------I. Dresses. I
    I

    Thanks. Drilling screws to sides makes sense. One tip, the space for hangers is too narrow (between rod and shelf lip). I would suggest adding 3" to top if you are going to have a shelf going across.

  • @alanshmahlen21
    @alanshmahlen21 Рік тому +1

    What do you do when no studs are possible even in the corners? I'm working with a closet that is breaking my brain, as it seems to have boards on the sides just nailed into the hollow drywall. No corner studs. No anchors. But it has held up for almost 40 years?! I just need to install more shelves and I have no idea how the old boards are secured to the wall properly.

    • @getitdonehomerepair
      @getitdonehomerepair  Рік тому +1

      I would say that if it has been up for 40 years it must be nailed or screwed into a stud somewhere.

    • @alanshmahlen21
      @alanshmahlen21 Рік тому

      @@getitdonehomerepair I am close to getting a portable x-ray machine to see what the heck is going on. I put super thin nails into the wall at every point where the existing boards have nails, and there are no studs. The only place it might be nailed into studs are the back 2 corners, because the fronts of the boards don't extend all the way to the opening where another frame would be.

  • @IMOO1896
    @IMOO1896 Рік тому

    Ok, when you’re first drilling a hole to be at an angle, filet drill straight down at a 90degree angle, then slowly rotate the drill bit to go in the angle you’re desiring. Much easier! And why on earth are you spilling the drill, of you don’t want fast, the just go slow and steady, this bump bump bump will kill your drill.
