The modern version of this idea, is the Gene Drive, created using CRISPR-CAS 9 . Nothing it stops animals from hellish pain and death. And for us same but death is less than 1% since if you have pain somewhere you get it checked out. If we could wipe out just the female mosquito which is 300 species, 500 quadrillion at least on 🌍 except for the poles. That would be impossible to wipe out worldwide. Ecosystem will be fine, 1 million people worldwide won't die due to the diseases they carry. But there still will be mosquitoes there's 3,300 species of mosquito on 🌍. Only 300 species suck blood.
So Malaria and other nasty things flies and mosquitoes carry should just go unchecked and rampant.
Theres millions/billions of dollars that are affected here.
For farmers, for economies, for consumers.
Its not eradication it crashes the populations to offset the enormous damage they do.

In my lifetime, i have read horror stories of people dying or nearly dying from being infested with blow flies while in places like South America or the Congo, but had NO IDEA that the absence of these destructive pests in North America was due to a coordinated effort in Panama.

Florida had a similar massive problem with the “Bot Fly” “Screw worm.” Even today humans and warm blooded animals still get the “Bot Fly” which painlessly borrows under the skin and has to be surgically removed!
Or you can use a lubricant for bot flies.

Except for the pain of the skin numbing medication, all you’ll feel is pushing and tugging. The little suckers can be difficult to remove whole.

A good deal of those people are investors in livestock ranching.
Without them curbing fly populations and the damage they do to farmers and ranchers, then their jobs would be in jeopardy. 😂

They didn't say that. You're making an assumption just because a specific animal wasn't named. The specific type of fly in this video didn't range very far north. There was a map in the video that showed their natural range and yes some bison were within their natural range. Keep in mind we did this to save money, not because we couldn't coexist. Wildlife coexisted with them just fine. They are just one of several native species of fly. The flys that remain only go after rotting flesh.
