The Ampero sounded absolutely brutal with the custom IR. So, if you're using plugins for a cab Sim for DI tracks, I found an interesting plugin from Ugritone called Trvecab and it allows you to use up to 8 IRs simultaneously and they have cab ir packs which have center, edge, rear, side, room and even tube sizzle irs. I got it on sale for like $5. It's a very interesting plugin
I appreciate that you act out every playthrough with each modeler! It is much more visually stimulating than just seeing a static image of each modeler with tones in the background.
Dude, I have to say, in this comparison, the Ampero sounded SAVAGE!!! I still love my GE200 :P I found that if you cut some of the 750Hz on the GE200, it does a better job on high gain patches. For some reason, Mooer pushes the low mid range waaay up. But I guess it's better to cut than to boost after the pre-amp :) Can't wait for you to upload the patches :)
1:41 The Ampero had a really bad low end rumble with the stock IR, but was ok with the custom IR. All of them sounded pretty good, the best probably the Axe (dont own any of them).
The Ampero sounded nice. I like your videos, your riffs and tones. Great job. Please do a Peavey shootout between the 5150/6505, the XXX, and the Valveking!!!!!!!
Hey Taylor! Man I cant believe how good the little Ampero holds up against the mighty AxeFx III! Such an awesome little modeler. I have an AxeFx Ultra that I bought new years back and love it but the Ampero is so close on some things! Great vid. Keep em coming! Anthony.
Awesome demo, Taylor. \m/ I personally liked both the hotone ampero and the mooer ge200’s take on of the engl amp. I was thinking about getting the hotone ampero for my guitar and bass.
I really like the mid-forward tone of the Ampero here, until it gets to the single-note runs, when it gets undefined. Least favourite was the GE200 (more scooped, empty sounding), until it got to the single-note runs, when it seemed to be the most defined of the three. While the Axe-FX does not have the EQ curve I like best, I do think it sounds the most detailed and complex of the three, and sits in the middle of the Ampero and GE200 both for fatness and definition. This is most apparent when solo-ed, in the mix that doesn't stand out so much.
Thanks a lot for the video! Ordered ampero one, waiting for it. I should say it sounds great and not worse than Axefx here, even better from my point of view. Greetings from Russia!
To my ears they all sounded so different in the mix while so similar on their own, the stock cabs sound a bit brighter and less dark. If I had to choose one I would go for the hotone with stock cabs.
Each sounds completely different and honestly... I don't like neither of those. I'm really dissappointed there was no real amp to compare because I'm really curious how it would sound. Other than that the video is flawlessly made. Great job once again!
@@TaylorDanley Oh shit! That IS funny! Seems like he rubbed off some of his magic on you! Kyle is such a riff monster! Edit: Not to take away from you tho!! 🤣
Man, thanks for all these incredible comparisons. I've got an Ampero and I'm having a lot of fun with it. I've searched for your Soldano IR from one of your past videos, but I could not find it on your Dropbox. Could you please make it available? Thanks!
It would be awesome, in case you had the opportunity, to revisit these shootouts and comparisons with the Ampero Stomp 2, which is supposed to be even better.
as far as stock cabs that axe FX man it just sounds epic. the ampero did a decent job. the moor was alright. im kinda glad you didnt do one with the helix its engle is kinda muddy to my ears. but with 3rd party impulses man they all sounded good
Yeah, I left it out because the fireball is SUCH a different amp tonally. I knew at some point I was going to get into this territory, where I'm comparing models that dont exist on all 4 modelers.
I'd be very curious to compare the Ampero ENGL model to the new ENGL Powerball pedal... really love what I've heard so far, but wonder if it'd be worth it over the Ampero's version... If you ever get your hands on one, do another shootout!
So I'm watching this video on my cellphone, and imo ampero sounds closer to my Savage than axe-fx. I definitely need to watch it again with my headphones on ;)
Fractal is going to have to figure out how to land the price plane one of these days, of course nothing does everything the fx3 does, but I bet most people that want the fx3 want it for guitar tones and not for the complex things it does aside from that. I looked hard at line 6 mooer and ampero, ended up buying a hx stomp. Incorporating it into my existing pedals seemed appealing and if I want I can always simply run my hd500x as a midi controller and have a poor mans helix.
I think if they wanted to compete with the lower price point units, yeah they'd need to make a new product. As the market sits now though, it's like the Axefx is on top, competing with itself, and all the other modelers are below competing with each other. Even the rack mount helix is considerably less expensive, but for sure doesn't do half of what the Axefx does.
Soon! I'm still working out the details on the hx stomp, but yeah I know people are ready for that vid. I didn't realize it was such an issue until I tried that patch!
How did you set it all up? in the sense : Apart from the amplifier, what did you use as a boost on ampere ? and which cabinet with microphone? sorry but i can't find a decent von ampero sound using engl...
I don't like any of them to be honest. I think the savage doesn't need a boost it already has so much attack and tightness it just makes it sound worse same is true for the blackmore. I think your 5150 tones are some of the best I've heard on youtube.
So I was just checking out your downloads. Im totally new to the cab IRs and dont know which one to download to get your cabinet impulses. Could you LMK? Thanks Bro!
Savage is my favorite amp as well even though I`ve never owned one😏 A year ago or so I bought a hardware amp Hotone Eagle's Heart which was supposed to roughly emmulate Savage 120 but it was nothing alike, super fuzzy, sold it pretty quickly Some of tones here are not that bad but still fall short, I think. I wonder what does Brainworx Savage sound like but will never know because of UAD
@@TaylorDanley well I was waiting for Brainworx to release it as a VST plugin, at least... Like they have Retro Tube and E646, but no, it`s still only for UAD cards, and yes, definitely not reasonably priced. Having Ignite Emissary + NADir for free, I`d pay no more than 50$ for the top commercial ampsim😀
Got an Ampero today, updated the firmware, tried it for 5 mins and screen went dead and it wouldn't turn back on :( Don't suppose you know if there's a hard reset button combo?
Sorry to hear that. No idea, I'm terrible with keeping my stuff up to date, and even worse with having patience to troubleshoot technical issues. Good luck!
Taylor Danley, just tried out the Barbarion and Firecube tones from the free Nalex Amplex amp sim plugin. Not sure how faithful they are to the real Engl’s but kick out some decent tones. Might be worth a look 🤔
Sorry! Gotta be my true self! I DO try and dial it back though, if you've ever listened to my band lol. I WILL be doing more stuff in the future that's hard rock/classic oriented ... I've been wanting to dial in a Led Zeppelin tone forever on the axefx. . Just haven't gotten to it yet
Hey guys, thanks for watching! Subscribe if you haven't! 🤘
it's amazing that the ampero is on par with the axe-fx's sound
Ampero is a gem. Firmware 3.5 is badass. Get you some ownhammer for a couple of patches and you're done ever dealing with physical world.
I know it's subjective but I totally disagree. The ampero sound like it's being projected through a tube to me.

Yeah, the ge200 has a very mid heavy sound on all the patches. I think it tricks people sometimes.

To me the best sounding is Ax-fx and ampero, ge200 is a rawer sound.
What about to try an Orange amp?
Viva México!

Ampero's very nice
Guess this justifies me looking at the Ampero or Ampero II as a backup for my Fractal.
Awesome Tones
Ampero is also sound great I’m using it for live its easy
For Halloween I'm going as a Mooer GE200. That would be Savage!
