    Great series, just finished it. You have inspired me to go out of my chill warlord-regent-sometimes monarch zone and see how far I can push it. And ofc to give Republic more of a chance, even though I still think you malign the war govts. too much ;) Commie is hands down the best if you are big enough since it wrecks corruption... though my Commie mega empire was on Warlord as was my Fascist one and IIRC corruption grows with difficulty. The idea in both was to push things as far as possible. Huge Pangea map with 60% water and nice climate ensures huge swaths of excellent land. I spread my cities apart so only BFCs touch to reduce rank corruption and make them excellent after hospitals. I positioned my Forbidden Palaces strategically too to increase the number of productive cities. Necessary improvements in all of them... I had more top tier megalopolises than you can count. Both my Fascist and Commie empires had astronomical productivity, but Commie a lot more even though you can do a lot with Fascist (and other non-coms I guess) if you use what I call Slum Cities that function despite corruption. Anyway I could send you the saves if you are curious.
    Keep up the good work ;)

    Thank you for your videos. It's helped my game a lot. I'm a pretty casual player. I usually stick to emperor and continents, standard map size, maybe play it 5-10 times a year. I rush my local civs and once I own the continent, I bide my time till I have tanks and bombers and just slaughter the other civs (i like conquest). I never realized just how much closing out the game early boosts your score. I just finished out a pangea game where I stuck to my typical rush strategy but wanted to see how far i could push it. Stomped civ after civ ruthlessly, never teched past iron work, just demanded techs while making peace. Closed out the game shortly after getting calvary, 1140ad. Nearly doubled my average score. Was a nice change of pace. Not sure if I'll venture upto sid, but I think I'll give demigod a shot. Thanks

      Continents maps are really just the best IMO.
      You do get a big bonus for closing out the game early, but most hall of fame high score games just take the game late and milk it for points.

      @@suedeciviii7142 I wonder who is the best then... How much better could one be? How would they get science ? I wonder if it's possible at all... Maybe with early army pillaging ? Anyway, pretty cool exploit.. I don't know how one makes sure the ai won't go at war with them early on and later on. Right of passage helps and maybe they won't if you have a small defense but if they do sometimes then sometimes you are lost... By the way fantastic control of units and you spot almost everything and don't get discouraged when sometimes things don't go your way. I guess it helps that you know they will get your way eventually . It also feels like you were lucky but this map is kind of easy. I don't think I could win this but there are 2 islands and it feels like not much land.. the lucky part is how they destroyed the civ next to you that was about to stop your expansion. Then it was relatively easy cleaning them up and gaining land. And then you continued to win but played fantastic in the meantime. Dealt very well with the drops fought well against the portuguese... I would be scared at that point they were strong. You and the russians were stronger it seems. You also seem lucky to me with the culture flips. It seems to me that this happens much more often. The game gives no time to get to the next cities. I guess you prepared better and that's all. I would like to see Pangaea with not much water normal map size and whatever level you can reliably win with decent land. Like for example you might spawn without a river or lake but of course have grassland with maybe a few bonus grassland. Finding the best maps so you can win deity or sid feels like defeating the rules of random start. It's understandable if you spawn in all desert but otherwise it's should be a random start. I mean do both obviously at sid you said good land is needed to win so that's ok I am just saying what you can do. Then that would be a fair level. How could a potentially unwinnable level be a fair level? But in demigod I think you are pretty much guaranteed to win.

The combat bonus that the AI gets as the level of difficulty increases. I’ve noticed it doing some testing but the other person I asked said it doesn’t exist. And I’m not talking about barbarians I mean regular AI Civ

I haven't played in a long time so I was getting back into it on regent. There was an enemy Archer on a hill and I had two archers on a hill, all regulars. I made sure the autosave was working to be able to test it. I attacked his Archer with both of mine and lost both, he got down to red. Then I went and replayed the turn and didn't attack. He attack my two and even with the bombard bonus from 1 he killed 1. The next scenario I tried twice. I attacked him with the Archer and another I let him attack me. He won every single scenario. I literally rage quit. I have another scenario from a different game but I didn't rage quit 😂 I played as the carthaginians and had the special unit 2/3/1. With 3 regular archers he killed 2 veteran and 1 regular. Then when I attacked his Archers with more, a 2 attack against a 1 defense, all of this on grassland, he beat me once and lost once... I really can't believe that my luck is that bad. I really cannot believe there is no combat bonus.

      What is true about Civ 3's combat odds is they allow "unlikely" events to happen more often than people feel they should. The whole "spearman beats tank" thing. Civ 4 is normalized. What would be a 95% chance become 99.5% in Civ 4.
      This + confirmation bias + no one understands defense bonuses + people not noticing when they get good RNG = a lot of complaining that the combat is rigged.

    Hi Suede! I really enjoyed this series and learned a lot. I'm understanding this game and now I can play not that bad at Emperor difficulty. However I can't figure out what to do when I start to have less science & techs than opponents. On big maps with many opponents I still can make some benefit with tech trading but on small maps, these AIs trade every techs for themselves and I don't know how to follow them. (especially after mid-late medieval era and industrial era) I'm currently thinking about making gold and do no research so I can steal tech from them, or making world war to make them fight each other and try to make army... didn't tried yet. So the question is "General tips about how to follow AIs tech trees when I can't make enough research?"

    • @pabloraulpereyra4948
      @pabloraulpereyra4948 2 роки тому

      Even with less science you can still give them a good figth. The ai use his units very bad. You only need to prepare very well your units. Your problem is going to be start weakening the enemy before it became so powerfukl

    • @pabloraulpereyra4948
      @pabloraulpereyra4948 2 роки тому

      Use plenty arty so you dont "trade" casualities. Arty is wonderfull because it allows you win battles without casualities lr with very mlw casulties. So you smaller and maybe even lower tech army can slowy gain the uppercut over a stronger enemy

      Depends how you define "the OP shit". I have a stream as the Byzantines that doesn't use this specific exploit, and results in a win on sid. But if you exclude stuff like the great library, favorable map generation, etc, it gets really hard really fast.
