Great vid! Lots of insight in the comparison. I decided to run a Tethrd one stick with a 3 step aider this year. Good point about being able to slide the one stick higher up under the tree tether vs stick with wider platform!
I’ve been doing my homework on saddle hunting, trying to get into it. I am currently a backyard tree climber. But you got to start somewhere. I feel like the industry is finally making light weight equipment. And if you feel comfortable with one sticking, that’s where it’s at. I appreciate your content, as I’ve watched many of your videos. Coming from sport climbing, I am familiar with general climbing knots, devices and safety. I also commend you for your safety practice. It seems like some of the content on YT is way off the mark with safety.
Forgot my boots one day this last season..wore crocs and climbed 4 XOP X2s and hunted 5 hrs on a XOP edge..must say..not horrible. But not the best either.
I started one sticking with a hawk helium 20" stick with hawk platform mounted to it, last year used the tethrd one stick all season, this year i used an xop x2 with cam cleat. The x2 is only 4oz heavier than the One, but for me much more comfortable and easier to climb with. Completely built stick with cleat, amsteal attachment, 2 step amsteal aider, retractable pull up loop and silencing taped for $100. I also use a predator platform with it, more comfortable for longer sits and worth the extra weight for me.
Youve got me thinking about trying one of my skeletor sticks to one stick up a tree. Ive only seen one other video of a guy using tethrd's one stick to advance up the tree. Thank you for sharing. It would save me quiet a bit of money onr sticking with a skeletor.
Hey brother I run a onestick now for single sticking basically you nailed it on the head. As far as weight I feel with the onestick you still need to have a platform so weight is kinda even in my assessment. I should also mention I did cut my stick into a mini one which is stupid light! Great video Happy Thanksgiving and if you need anything give me a hollar!
Happy Thanksgiving brother, I definitely need a replacement attachment rope. I’m not feeling the stock one from Tethrd. I’m running 3 squirrel steps and an OCB which is right around a pound.
@@PrivilegedBowhunter no problem man Ill definitely hook it up! Ill text you this weekend and get you squared away! Oh yeah btw ring of steps straight classic man can’t go wrong with them either!
@PrivilegedBowhunter can't beat a ROS system with Tethrd one stick! If someone is a sitter then wingman or platform is a must but me being a leaner, regular stick with ROS works beautifully.
I like what you are doing but one sticking looks so slow and clumsy. I can fly up the tree with four Tethrds and a linemen belt, using a tether to go around limbs, and get up a gnarly tree fast and silent. Carry weight of four Tethrd's is less than that Predator Platform. I hang a LWCG stand that weighs six pounds and can sit and stand all day long for a total carry weight of 10 lbs. If someone can't carry 10 pounds they certainly can't drag a big buck out of the woods, LOL. Stay safe bro.

@@Longbowwoman glad it helped!

good info....I was looking for this type of comparison...thanks
There is a side by side timed climb as well
Excellent demo. I was curious how taking that Tethrd stick off the tree vs a stick with a cam cleat would look and found my answer.
Glad it helped bro

Try it and tag me on IG🤙🏾
Out on a limb mfg. has a cam cleat conversion for the one stick. That paired with the arsenal platform is moneyyy!!!
I’m not necessarily comfortable with drilling into the one stick, especially at my weight
@@PrivilegedBowhunter understandable. Before I switched to one stick I used 3 sticks and used the GC-One moveable aider and still rappelled down.
Thank you for this

If you are interested check out the Onestick plate you can get to put on a cam cleat on the Tethrd one!
I tried just running on these “one stick” I prefer having more foot room. Just helps me be more comfortable for longer sits
I use a ring of steps for the extra space
Get a Sladder Climbing System, all webbing. Except for 2 hooks
One longer so you have more reach holding from the bottom maybe
🤔
Gonna have to buy platform ? not much weight savings ?
My squirrel steps and ocb strap weigh a pound which puts me at a 2.5lb weight savings🤙🏾
