    ive been one sticking for the past 2 years. I highly recommend using an autoblock attached to your linemans loop. good insurance to make sure you're not on a liquid diet the rest of your life. definitely recommend using a quick link over the carabiner for your tether as well

    If you have a $2 body, then buy a $2 carabiner...... and rope for that matter. Petzl is a very good brand and used by many arborist. Great video! Thank you

    I’m using my 2 year old tethrd skeletor stick with a versa button to one stick because I can’t afford an actual one stick with a cam cleat yet. Watching you climb made me realize I was trying to get too much distance in each move and wasting energy having to lean over and undo that versa button. Thanks for the video

    Love your channel brother! i live in Peppertown on Riley Rd down by Walton cemetery and we have several pear trees on our property and the deer around here are crazy about pears so no need to climb trees just walk out the front door and sit down for 30 mins or so most days and the deer just come to you. it is unreal how many deer i see each year eating our pears. to be honest killing them would be to easy and take the fun out of it and my mom loves to watch them so there's that! if it was not for that i would say come by and bag a few but she would kill me. i let my cousin get 2 this year and she went ballistic! but if you have a few acres put some pear trees on it and watch them come!

    I would be using a quick link for side load purposes on the rappel line it can handle the load verses a carabineer which is not meant for side load .

      Lucky! It’s illegal in Louisiana 😒

    • @DavidHeaton
      @DavidHeaton Місяць тому +1

      Its because it damages the tree. That's why it's illegal. Most arborist won't gaff a tree unless it's going to be removed. It's considered unethical. If you are a licensed arborist you aren't allowed to

    • @garrettserigney3259

    • @braxtonhall1513
      @braxtonhall1513 Місяць тому

      @garrettserigney3259 its legal. I've talked to DNR about it. Really it's not going much deeper in to the tree than a climber would. I've been climbing for years it doesn't damage the tree that bad. Within a year or so the spike marks are barely noticeable

    I wouldn’t ever use this method but I’d like to give it a go just to say I have, the products probably aren’t even available in the UK as the only way we shoot from height is using tree stands, and even they aren’t hugely popular.

    Self-appointed safety officer here. Ok, let's pretend this was a safe climb. First, we will have to ignore the aluminum carabiner sideloaded on the tree. Second, ignore the slack that's interduce when climbing up onto the stick. Third, ignore when you unhook from the tree at hunting height to go over a limb, while standing on an aluminum platform that you routinely drop! Freaking forth thing to ignore is the unholy way you are treating your ropes. Figure 8-man, figure 8. Hey, dying doesn't scare me as much as living in a wheelchair for 4 or 5 decades, and hurting the people I care about. Now before I go to see the judge for your arrest warrant. I would like to recommend the S.M.A.R.T. one stick (NO SLACK) method. First time viewer, and I'm subscribing. God bless.

      I mean was it really that bad? I’m not an expert but he articulated what he was doing and showed an effective way to get up there. We can always improve but I’m sure he’s been up and down tons of times with this method.

    • @LIFEONTHELINE-xn8gs
      @LIFEONTHELINE-xn8gs Місяць тому +6

      @@christophermorris481 I'll put it to you like this. I can see a person climbing like this over, and over, there whole life, and never having anything bad happen to them. Now imagine 5,000 people doing this. Now what do you think will happen? Do you know of anyone falling while deer hunting? Staying connected (with no slack in your connection) to the tree is the safest way to go. I'm scared of heights and routinely hunt very high, because it's when I have the most success. So, I think about it a lot! No way I would do it if I could fall. I use the S.M.A.R.T. One Stick (NO SLACK) Method for mobile hunting. Just trying to help him and his followers. That includes you, God bless.
