Lo desarmaría para ver si el condensador está quemado como el del video.
Afirmativo era también en condensador mucha gracias!!!!
Hello. Our conservation volunteer group had two of these chargers with the same fault. Your video has saved us about £100 on replacing them. Many thanks!!
Glad it helped
The oh yes at the end is my honest reaction to any house fix as well. Good video!
Thanks brother!!! You saved me a 60 minute round trip ride and prolly $50 or more... so simple and took less than 10 minutes. Thanks again!! John, A1
I have had the same problem with my DeWalt DCB107 charger here is Zambia where I relocated from the USA about 3 years ago now. Thanks for sharing your detailed fix for the problem. Now I just need to see whether or not I'll be able to source the capacitor locally.
Thanks for posting this!!! My Dewalt charger was having the exact same problem. Opened it up and found one of the capacitor leads had not been soldered in properly and had come loose. I re-soldered it and it works perfectly now! Thanks for saving me some $$$!
Great video. I think I have a couple of lithium battery chargers so this came in very handy just in case. You did a great job of showing how to diagnose and fix the charger. Good job.
Perfect. I had a charger quit on me, and I suspect the same issue. I'll get back with you when I get it repaired. Thank you for showing me how.
I am a repairman. That is very common with any power supply. Good vid.
I’ve just repaired my dead charger. Having worked in the electronics industry for 40 years, I found that 2 diodes on the bridge rectifier had gone short circuit and blown the input 2A fuse. I requested some diodes from a mate at my ex work place,1N4007 and replaced. These have a good reverse voltage breakdown 700V. I replaced the input fuse with a direct short as the mains fuse plug is rated at 3A so that will protect the circuit. I suspect a surge on the mains supply caused the problem. I’ve recharged both batteries and my drill is now up and running.
Freakin Brilliant.Such a simple fix that most would skip and just throw away and then shell out like 80 bucks for a fancy new charger.I have seen plenty of bulging caps on motherboards that still worked fine,so I dont think I would have thought of that.Since it was the only thing that looked off, great call on replacing that part.
We live in a throw it away world. Before I throw away anything I usually take it apart or see if I can fix it. You sound the same.
Thanks a bunch. Same problem, same reason, same solution. Took mine apart, same bulged capacitor. Great video, Sir.
Awesome!
If you are in DeWALT’s 20V Max system it’s hard not to end up with several of those DCB107 chargers. They only get away with charging so much for replacements because contractors make mistakes (leave them) and will overpay for an emergency charger to avoid holding up a job.
I, myself, have four DCB107 and one DCB118 fast charger. First one came with my brushless drill/driver set. Turns out my mom had already purchased a brushed drill with the same charger before moving in with me, bringing a second DCB107 into our garage. Next, I got a PowerDetect hammer drill to anchor into concrete which is how I ended up with my DCB118 fast charger. Finally, I bought an open box DeWALT mower that included two more of the DCB107 chargers for a total of four plus the fast charger.
I’m here because I’m considering mounting the extras into a TSTAK box so that the attached batteries don’t roll around and I’ll always have chargers when on the go.
I just popped my charger open and suspected the capacitor as well, thank you for confirming my suspicions.
Everyone attempting this, REMEMBER TO SAFELY DISCHARGE THE CAPACITOR. I wasn't watching my hands when I yanked the PCB out and I zapped my dumb ass lol
🤣🤣
Thanks for the Video, it encouraged me to open up my charger and check for a swollen Cap but it was ok, So I looked around for another issue and found that under a diode was dark brown like from excessive heat (i think it was number 201 on the board) so I turned the board over and saw a cold soldered joint on the diode and re soldered it and Voila It worked!! Thanks Again
Thats awesome. Most would've thrown it away.
That's great. I wish I was that lucky. My 12v charger is fast blinking . I'm sure battery is fine.
Looked at board and can't see any visual issues.
Last week the charger worked one time, and battery was fully charged. But goes to fast blink again.
Gracias por su valioso video. Ademas quisiera preguntarle si es factible reemplazar ese capacitor por uno Low ESR o habria problema?
Great Video, I had the same problem with the charger, but thanks to this Video i was able to reapair it. Thank you!
Good job.....Electrolic Capacitors have a lifespan that can vary from as little as 1,000 hours to 10,000 hours...cheers
Thank you sir. You explained it very well and your demonstration gets five stars from me.
Dude, I've been having the exact same experiences -- this happened right around the time of one of our California Public Safety Power Shutoffs. I even went back to my old super-reliable DeWalt 18v drill.
I actually bought a couple of new 20v batteries and ordered a new charger. But now seeing this, I'll have to try this trick. Thanks and please keep up the great work. I'll let you know if it works.
Please do!
Very helpful video. Side note: one of our DeWalt chargers had a 100-micro-F (200v) capacitor and the other one had a 220-micro-F (200v) capacitor. So not every charger will have the 68-micro-F (200v) one shown here I guess. The 100-200v charger repair was successful, but our replacement of the capacitor on the 220-200V model failed.
Great video. Had same problem, capacitor was $6 on Amazon though, but 20 min fix and works like new. End of the capacitor was extruded and appeared like it had expanded 1-2mm. So I soldered in a new one and, just as this video shows, it worked like a charm. Thanks!
I’m having trouble finding the capacitor on Amazon. Followed the link and says product unavailable. Any suggestions on where to find the correct one? I’m unsure of exactly what to look for.

@@allen1473 Open your charger up, make sure you see 68 and 200V, in case your model uses different capacitor. I don't want to order from China, so I bought the one in the link below and received in 2 days locally. Make sure solder iron gets hot to remove the old solder, I used solder wick to suck up the old solder, slightly applied tension to old capacitor so the moment solder melted, the leg pulled out. 20 min fix!, and my old capacitor had a slight bulge, so moment I changed it, I was back to normal charging. Now run my charger on a power strip/surge protector.
Glad I found this video! I'm not going to the trouble to repair mince since I just bought it in November. Taking it back to Lowes.
Very nice. Now how do you check a battery for issues?
Keep them coming
I have a hole blown through I guess it's called a resistor. Do you have a link for replacement part?
can you make any dewalt charger to work like DCB119 vehicle charger?
fantastique description - I was able to fix my charger - thanks Ryan
Great video and thank you for sharing. I wonder how many Dewalt chargers have been "bought" after people getting stuck with no choice. Also, think these chargers are made to self-destruct overtime to ensure repeat sales...
I agree. Said the same thing!
Great job pointing out Negative pole...
Since you had it open, it probably would have been a good idea to clean up J1 and J2 on the board as it looks like there is some corrosion. Looks to be on the main board as well as on the little board which contains the actual terminals the the battery contacts with (not as clear video so hard to be sure).
Can you do a video on repairing the audio output side of a car stereo amplifier ?
I’m not gonna lie, I have pushed this 4 channel 3000 watt amplifier to its max for year’s from car shows and tailgate parties to crank it up stereo competitions. But the funny thing is it stopped putting out audio on a 2 hour road trip after it playing at maybe 15% power. Just turned up loud enough to where you can talk to the passenger without yelling. I have took the case apart and looked for blown capacitor’s or anything obvious but I got nothing.
Thank you. I have a cheapish charger that is showing the 'hot/cold' fault so not charging. Although the capacitor appears okay it's surely worth replacing - they're so cheap and easy to do so, even if unsuccessful, I'll only lose a few pennies. Thanks again.
your gonna be in my dreams tonight bro !! much love !!!
My own got burnt this morning so it produces awful smell could it the the capacitor or the transformer though I haven't opened it yet
Enjoyed watching this brilliant clip, well done for once an easy looking fix. 👍 🇬🇧
Hi Robert, I'm in Britain. Did this solve your problem?
I have a craftsman v20 cmcb104, it has an aishi 2018 jpet capacitor in it. Can I use the same capacitor you listed in the video?
Thanks it’s was the perfect video to find we had a power surge and it did the Same thing to my charger
Mine had a tiny amount of paper out between the seams on the top
Great job on your repair video! Very informative and easy to follow.
Loved your video and how you explained your self thanks
Great video hope to fix mine same thing happened to me and de Walt in mexico doesn’t have a guaranty on accessories bad
Gracias
Hi sir good day can i buy 220v charger for my 110v charge i have some problem with my charger thanks sir
Can someone tell me what soldering kit would you recommend for a fix like this?
Can you do one about the hot and cold delay
Wow thank you!
Im gona go ahead and try it with my charger. 3 batteries doing the same.
4:00 Your J2 and J1 Pins look pretty oxidized and burnt as well not sure if that has caused any issues since this video?
They haven’t, however I will keep that in mind if anything happens again.
This video is great, saves me from spending 110 on a new charger
Thanks for sharing! Great job. Wondering if a little higher spec voltage and quality like Nichicon, Panasonic, etc. would help too also.
Great video, very thorough. Thank you
Very excellent repair. Thank you much!
디월트 충전지가 좋기는 정말 좋네요
저번에 물에 닿았는데 번쩍 번쩍 탁탁 소리가 나면서 탔었는데 지금은 괜찮네요
cool fix mine flashes normal but the other light is on also an says its charging but it don't charge
Good night am here watching your video but it's on a dewalt i have a vonhuas charger i think it's not charging you any tips for me
Open it up. Never know till you take a look!
Helpful, thanks for the video!
Well done sir thank you …..you explained everything really well I appreciate it!!!!!
Glad it was helpful!
Excelente video! Me sirvió para reparar el cargador que tenía el mismo problema. Muchas gracias !!
Thanks man I have the same charger with the same problem
Any idea what is wrong with mine? No lights when plugged in. No light when battery is attached either. Thanks
Can this charger pluged into 220volt can be fixed
Hi. I have questions. Y my charger had. yellow light And also
What is number type IC PWM Primer ??
Gracias, saludos!
Good video clear and easy explanation.
I also experienced the same thing with the 18v battery charge, the problem is this charge can't provide current to the battery ... I don't know why
Well done, good explainer.
hello, please know what transformer to use to replace the NF1? Thanks
That is the mains buffering filter capacitor. You can put in a higher voltage rated one about 120 to 400uF at 400uf would make the problem go away for good. 🤓😊😁
120 to 400uf at up to 400v. Fix it for good.❤
I have a craftsman v20 cmcb104, it has an aishi 2018 jpet capacitor in it. Can I use the same capacitor listed in the video? Or would you have a link to a better one?
Remind the light comes on the hot cold light part comes on but the battery won't charge and I've left it on overnight and it's still don't do it got any ideas
Appreciate your work bud! 👍🏼
Hello !
I'm from Brazil
can you help me
I have this model
The problem is: The red led is not burned out.
but it doesn't blink
the capacitor is not inflated
Hello, I have the same problem...Have you found a solution?????
Same
I have a charger dewalt. When I put the battery in my charger, the red led flashes as if it were charging, but hours pass and the battery does not charge, the led only keeps flashing.

how to install fan for cooling dewalt charger ?
Un fu@#$$%kin believable. Thanks man. Awesome Video.
Great job. Imma gonna try this.
To chargers on the same circuit are doing the same. I'm gonna bet it's the same problem. Thanks!
My man my man… thank you
Awesome video. Thanks for sharing
Exactly as expected
I have the fast charger model and the torx T15 bits are too small, and the next up, the T20 are too. Can't figure out how to remove the screws 😭
I had the same issue... remember it is a security Torx T15 and not regular T15. Torx security screws have a post in the center of the head that prevents a standard Torx driver (or a straight screwdriver) from being inserted. I was able to shear the center post using a tiny strong flat screw driver and then my regular T15 just had a snug fit.
R17
How much ohms??
thanks a lot what about fet is bad ,anyhow we save a lot as money matters.
I’d the same charger but when I put my batteries to charge the light stays red like the battery has already charged. I’d only got this driller a couple of weeks and only used it three times. I dont know if to return it or call DeWalt for them to send me a new one. Does somebody have the same issue as me?
How would you test to make sure its the capacitor. Ohm it or plug in and test volts ( my elec skills go as for as a light switch on and off LOL) when I plug in cord and put Batt to charge I get nothing no lights blinking and battery want charge.
If you have a good multimeter you can use it to check the capacitance.
ESR meter
You're so lucky all your screws came out, my last one is stuck!
Great video! Thank you.
So im listening, and he breaks out, yeah thats a MOSFET...wt?? im like holy crap he knows what a MOSFET is!
I have a similar issue, but my light just stays on saying the battery is charged but it's not charging. I tried another charger and it works fine. So something is wrong with the charger.
This was the problem, solved.
Well done ! Kudos to ya.
What is going on when you get a red and green light flashing repeatedly?
Not sure. Sorry I fixed mine and that all I know about these chargers really. I have no connections with dewalt.
My charger is connected to 240v makes some noise does not work on 120v.
Why don’t tool batteries have wireless charging yet? Place batteries or battery still connected to tool on a charging pad as we do with phones. Why not?
Hi mine is new and it gets hot and makes a noise and change for 30 minutes and still on red
I noticed my battery didnt fit snug until I put my old battery on then realized I didnt have it push in all the way . I can always depend on UA-cam University
Thank you!
Thank you so much!
Ill check it out thanks!
Thanks for the information keep it up
Thanks for the video man
I checked my charger and realized I didn"t have the battery pushed all the way down. If mine starts flashing like that i know what to look for
