Very well done! Even a guy can understand this. Bought a heavy duty sewing machine about 15 years ago; repair my wife's horse gear, chisel holder, straps -- all kind of things. I do get funny looks sometime when I go into the sewing store.
Little tip.. Hopefully i can explain in a text.. After you cut your strip & b4 you fold it inside out, lay a piece of ribbon or yarn right down the center (like a hotdog on a bun) let a little tail stick out on both ends, sew over the 1st end (like the spot you/she 1st starts sewing in the video) make sure that's the only part of the ribbon you sew over.. Now sew your seam like shown in the video.. The end you leave open, will have the ribbon hanging out of it, pull on that ribbon & itll turn your strip of fabric right side out, then just cut the ribbon off.. Super easy & way way faster than any other method, including the little sticks they sell for this purpose
Blind stitch has been around since time immemorial. The blind stitch is often used to hem pants to hide the seam on the inside to prevent it being seen (too much) on the outside. Yes, the ending blind seam is a good idea to finish your piece. You can also use a running stitch or a blanket stitch since the thread is matched well. Just some suggestions. Thanks for this video. It's to the point and simple. Well-done!
I think the innovation of the "Muppet" stitch was less about the thread pattern and more about its use in puppet making for covering the forms that make the musculature of the puppet. As I understand it, the Muppets were covered structures, as opposed to being turned and stuffed. This would necessitate a great deal of hand stitching in areas that would carry a lot of stress.
Obviously I don't know how this comment stuff works. The video is excellent. I have bought these bands online and they are yuck. I have one I bought at a craft fair 30 years ago and it works the best! it looks a lot like this. Thank you!
Thank you so much for this video. Most UA-cam videos I find are long & filed with useless chatter. This however was not. You are short, sweet & to the point. I sub'd ya, because I'll be back a few times as I make 12 of these. 6 people going to Disney World in the summertime; we're going to _need_ these. *Hugz from Canada
Is there a specific type of fabric that we should use? Because I have this very small amount of soft and pajama like fabric. So, I was thinking about using that, but will it not work well?
I am seeing information about water beads taking 4 hours to expand in water. Is there any way to speed up the process? I don't remember the neckbands I used as a kid taking that long to activate.
The beads hold the water which evaporates. The evaporation is what does the cooling. Works in a similar way to a Zeer Pot. (You can Google that to find out what they are and how they work.) Humidity will work against the cooling effect.
Vikki Michèle the miracle grow crystals are non-toxic and when in doubt call the company. I called them to verify since I was giving as gifts. But made mine before I saw this video
There are many different videos on UA-cam for hand sewing, the good thing about hand sewing is portability. One lady even has hand sewing face masks just so that people that didn't have a sewing machine wouldn't feel like they had no options
Sheri Karanasos yes, you can freeze them. If you want it not to freeze completely then put some in a. Zip lock bag with rubbing alcohol. It will get very cold but not freeze solid.

Just keep going, both my brothers learned to sew and I'm teaching my grandson so he can cosplay. We are also doing tie dye together ❤️
This is the way I have made cooling scarves.
Sharing this with my granddaughter who just asked me how I made them.

What a SUPER GREAT IDEA! Thanks for sharing!
OMG I love your ring! Thanks for a great and simple to follow tutorial.

I can't wait to start making them
Hi kat, great video! What is the difference with the floral gel beads and polymer crystals or is this the same thing?
Hello, I'm sooo amazed that you and I have the same slant-needle Singer!! I love mine. Take care, G☺

How long did the scarves keep u and ur guests cool?
Thanks for sharing this easy and useful project!
Excellent video! Thank you!
Is there a specific type of fabric that we should use?
Because I have this very small amount of soft and pajama like fabric. So, I was thinking about using that, but will it not work well?
How long does this stay cool?
Blind stitching was around way before the muppets , hilarious 😂😂😂
great idea
Can you wash them?
I am seeing information about water beads taking 4 hours to expand in water. Is there any way to speed up the process? I don't remember the neckbands I used as a kid taking that long to activate.
I believe it only takes that long the first time you rehydrate them. after that it will take half as long.
How much fabric do you need?
Do these really work ?
What do the beads do ?
The beads hold the water which evaporates. The evaporation is what does the cooling. Works in a similar way to a Zeer Pot. (You can Google that to find out what they are and how they work.) Humidity will work against the cooling effect.
Does anyone know if these can be frozen....or kept in the fridge?
i don't recommend freezing them but keep them in a open bag do not tie the bag and put them in the refrigerator.
Loved it.
You are really pretty
Awww, thanks! :)
Good idea
If you use sewing shears, instead of little cuts, it's faster and safer (if you are a clutz like me 😁
Can you freeze these?
do not freeze them it ruins them
does anyone know if these are washable? how do we refresh them after someone stored them wet so now they stink?
You can wash most things just don’t dry them, maybe air dry with a fan
This is so smart!😀
Will flannel material work? What’s the best material for cooling neck bandanas?
I would say any cotton fabric would work. So, yes.
Hi, where can I find the floral gel beads?
I've seen them at Dollar Tree. I'm sure Walmart carries them.
Micheals, Dollar Store sometimes, Amazon, probably Walmart! Try just looking up "water absorbing polymer beads'
You are such a genious girl!
Looks "cool" About how many beads do you think it took to fill for a firm feel?
Thanks for your wonderful video !! ;-)
would this work as like a heating pad too or would that ruin the gel beads?
I would put rice in the space instead of the beads to use in the microwave.
Put rice in a tube sock and tie the end up to heat, no scarf or beads necessary.
so smart😂😂😂
creative idea
How many beads are in here?
Nana in FL
good idea
super video share
Can I use hot glue? I don't have a sewing machine
Hot glue might work, but you could stitch by hand. Just use small stitches. Another option might be fabric glue.
I read the polymer beads are slimy like Vaseline, fyi
Have you heard if these beads are toxic?
Vikki Michèle the miracle grow crystals are non-toxic and when in doubt call the company. I called them to verify since I was giving as gifts. But made mine before I saw this video
Can you make this without sewing? I don’t have a sewing machine!
Yes with needle and thread
There are many different videos on UA-cam for hand sewing, the good thing about hand sewing is portability. One lady even has hand sewing face masks just so that people that didn't have a sewing machine wouldn't feel like they had no options

Can you freeze them?
Sheri Karanasos I think the little water beads fall apart. It would be great if they could be frozen!
Sheri Karanasos yes, you can freeze them. If you want it not to freeze completely then put some in a. Zip lock bag with rubbing alcohol. It will get very cold but not freeze solid.
