    Hi Jason
Thanks for your perfect explanation and illustration.Just have a question. I have a Japanese Juniper. Recently we had a very hot summer that passed 43 Celceus in the sun and my Juniper was under full sun as it should be receiving about 9 hours of direct sun each day . I watered it regularly. I use the best materials for my Bonsais . I fertilized it lightly till recently and the temperature is dropping now I have cut down on fertilization .
Few days ago I noticed that the tip of 2 of my Juniper branches have become crispy without turning green .
I used insecticide for spider mites at proper dosage several times since 6 month ago at proper intervals.
My Juniper is still young and growth has stunted for some times now . I slipped putted it few days ago without root prooning and haven't wired any branches as it still needs to be developed
What do you think the reason of crispness of the tip of the 2 branches and the stunted growth can be.?
I examined the roots too and they are black . There isn't any white tips on the root ball.
To give you an Idea , I tilted the pot on its side during the intense heat and some of the tips of the branches was too close to the mosaic ground under the direct sun. Is it possible that the intense heat reflected from the ground may have caused the crispness of the branch tips or can there be another reason for that.
Also what is the reason for the stunt growth ??
Is this normal for Junipers to stop ramifying at this season at this heat or can there be another reason ?
Appreciate your very kind comments and reply dear Jason. 🙏

My favorite bonsai channel. I’ve learned more from this channel than any other bonsai channel. Gotta stop in the nursery again here soon.

Having a cheap digital microscope can do wonders for diagnosing pests as well.

Do you water the plant with the solution or do you spray it?

I'm always curious on peoples methods for certain things. How often through the growing season do you use an insecticide spray? What kind of spray do you use in your preventative applications? I have been using Malathion for the past few years myself.
Just curious as everyone does this differently, any info can help.

You use a chemical fertilizer don't you?? They will not attack a healthy plant, but something about chemical fertilizer makes plants send out the signal to eat away. I haven't had a single bug or fungal attack in the six years since switching fertilizer types (my collection is about 200 trees), but I did have problems ever year before.

If you don’t mind me asking, what kind of fertilizer did you switch to?

@@calebforbis916 I mix my own from blood meal, bone meal, Kelp meal, and wood ash, and sometimes cottonseed meal or feather meal, BUT you can buy a natural (organic) fertilizer, and it's super easy to use and a lot harder to harm by things like over feeding.
