    I think Quest 2 is great. You can get one with a good bobovr m2 plus for under 300. I just ordered that combo today! I would love a quest 3 but I will wait until the price comes down by next holiday or wait until Quest 4.

      Yeah as I said in the video Quest 2 is still a very good headset but don't be surprised if shortly into 2024 you start seeing more games that are exclusive to Quest 3 because they just can't run on the older hardware.. I also talk to lots of developers daily and most of them are already abandoning plans to continue updates for quest 2 content... . Definitely not a bad headset but it will be shelved by Meta very quickly once that all starts happening.

    I'm a bit surprised bigscreen beyond is not mentioned. I'm getting the quest3 (have Pico4 and Vive Pro), but Bigscreen Beyond is on my list too. The idea of something just super comfortable really appeals to me..

      I really wish I could have included them in my headset reviews this year but I have reached out to @BigscreenVR several times and they decided that they don't want to work with me so unfortunatrely I didn't have one for comparison. While I'm sure it's a great headset, I can't make a solid recommendation or comparison utill I have used one! []-(

      I really wish they would but I'm not gonna hold my breath... Seems like @BigscreenVR doesn't want to work with smaller creators who would actually provide honest reviews! []-/

    Valve has a native quest app now (that streams from your steam games on pc), so you don't need virtual desktop or the link etc

      Yeah and it works great in most cases but I still prefer Virtual Desktop!

      Yeah I am very impressed with the latest updates to Virtual desktop.. love the fact that I've been able to see that app grow from its very first public release where it was just a single screen hovering in front of your face to what it is now!

    I got the Quest 2 upon release and my family enjoyed it so much that my siblings each got one. The problem is our Quest 2's broke within 2 years lol. I guess we had too much fun with them lol. I'm looking at getting the Quest 3.
    But I'm really looking for a VR headset or platform where I can play Mixed Reality games together with my family. Like we turn up to the local park, strap on our headsets and kill zombies together. That's what I'm looking for atm.

    • @vrgamerdude
      @vrgamerdude  8 місяців тому

      I have a feeling we're going to see a lot of those types of experiences over the next year as more developers start experimenting with mixed reality and there are already some really cool co-location games you will be able to play with multiple Quest 3's just none where you show up in a park and shoot zombies together. *Which is best for full body/head tracking in pcvr??*

    • @vrgamerdude
      @vrgamerdude  9 місяців тому

      Neither do full body tracking without additional sensors and for head tracking I would definitely say the Crystal with the Lighthouse faceplate... Quest 3 is still inside out tracking via cameras and it loses tracking of the controllers when over the head or behind the back. The only way to get 100% precise tracking is by using outside in methods such as the SteamVR lighthouse base stations.

    Is the Crystal actually better than the Aero?

    • @bigbangerz5856
      @bigbangerz5856 9 місяців тому

      you have to define 'better' the main advantages are the audio solution, vertical FoV and local dimming

      The fact that the Crystal can work with both inside out and outside in tracking solutions via the lighthouse faceplate combined with the much better audio and the QLED screens with local dimming and a wider vertical FOV makes it much better IMHO!

    • @stevebobowski3507
      @stevebobowski3507 9 місяців тому

      @@vrgamerdudeI'd almost agree with you until I ripped out that horrible bulky facial interface that comes stock in the aero and modded my own out of 2mm foam. .. and now the fov feels like my index and stereo overlap is amazing.
      Could be your lens inserts also contributing to the poor stereo overlap.

    • @vrgamerdude
      @vrgamerdude  9 місяців тому

      @@stevebobowski3507 The fact that you had to Mod it in order to get it where you needed it to be reinforces my opinion that it wouldn't be good for a normal consumer..... While I personally don't have any problems doing stuff like that I think most people buying it would simply return the unit, which is again why I wouldn't and can't recommend this headset... I'm really hoping the consumer version of their new XR4 headset can change my mind on this though because I do think @VarjoTechnologies has the potential to be a leader in the Prosumer VR market. @@vrgamerdudegood point but if someone was going to venture into high end vr then they better be ready and able to do some tinkering/modding.
      In case of crystal, I see it as the company modding their own headset after release with the base station tracking faceplate, eye tracking, standalone etc. Which inevitably opens the door to further jank and the need for software updates to support.
      I've been tempted by the crystal until the community started getting theirs and since then its a hard no.
      I too own many headsets as you learn that every one has its use case and none are perfect. Iam saving up for a xr4 focal in 2025 to be complimented by the 50 series GPU's and 15th generation chips aswell as ddr6 as the xr4 will need that to push to potential.
      If you still have your aero, just easily pull the facial interface out and place it to your face to see what iam talking about with the fov you gain. Also, do you use the optical adjustment bat that varjo released for the aero?

    • @vrgamerdude
      @vrgamerdude  9 місяців тому

      Got rid of the Aero shortly after trying it but I might pick one back up eventually just to add to the collection.
