I always love seeing cool teardowns like this. Really helps show the complexity that goes into devices like these. The magnesium alloy chassis was a cool thing to see.
Beautiful tear down video. Man it's amazing to see the engineering that goes into these headsets. You guys should really consider releasing a clear or smoked color version of the headset so that we could admire the internals!
The problem with that is that most of the internal space would have to be non see through otherwise you would have so much light leakage and it would break immersion and just not look very good😢
This was very neat to see, thank you so much. so the 6G wifi is already on board, that's cool as well. that will be killer when you release the update to support it
Most of the space is between the lenses and the displays, and that physically has to be there since the lenses won’t work properly if they where any closer (and im sure just to make it look big and cool too 😂)
Why? All it would do is cut the battery out. It would not reduce size or weight basically at all. Would just give up a lot of features, and wireless compatibility.
With so many components go into the headset, it looks like the only way to reduce the weight and size is to separate them out from the display and had them in your pocket or something with a wire hook up to the display (similar to a battery giving the device power through wire). That way you don't have much weight on the display and also you can be creative with the size and shape of it as well. That would required creative engineering for it to work I supposed.
@PimaxVR is the USB plug at the bottom for the hand tracking module adjustable so It can get closer to the edge? Mine doesn’t have a good connection feels like it isn’t seated all the way.
Hi Pimax techs, I bought a Crystal Light for static VR for simracing or plane simulation. So i don't need controllers because i use only mouse in VR. I found after the buying that the headset (even if it is not a standalone VR) emits ECM waves in 2,4 Ghz. Certainly to communicate with the controllers. How could i disable this permanent ECM emission ? There is nothing in the settings of the device. Unfortunately, ECM waves very close to my head gives me headaches. With other and older headsets without BT or Wifi emission, i can play for long hours without headaches. If there is no solution to disable this 2,4 Ghz emission, i should have to return the product for refunding. Thank you very much for you answer, BR,
The faceplate, DP adapter and headphones are quite heavy and safe to remove, I'm thinking of removing the second cover, the one on top of the magnesium alloy exoskeleton. It would be great if we could remove the fans for PCVR, but I won't be the first to do it ;)
@@TTailled What weight would you reduce? The battery would be the only one, and you would loose a lot of features and the future wireless compatibility.
It has the 60GHz Wigig module already inside? That's news to me. The interview I saw before showed the WiGig module as an external dongle. Are you sure that's not just a WiFi 6E module built in?
You should be saying consumer VR as Varjo for exanole has higher clarity on their enterprise line. It is too bad the battery power hmd strap connection was not thought out better to better allow alternative headstraps. Should have been a removable connector on both ends.
I'm sorry but that is simply incorrect. The Varjo XR3 has a higher peak resolution, but it is not clearer than the Crystal. The lens system in the Varjo XR3 and VR3 are outright inferior to the lens system in the Crystal due to their use of Fresnel optics and plastics for the base material. I believe quite a few people who have used both have commented that despite the lower peak resolution that the clarity, colors, distortion, and overall visual experience is in fact better with the Crystal.
@@JaapGrolleman what I'm saying is that the coating on the inside isn't smooth like the outside eye side of the lens. Is this just some residue from manufacturing or will rubbing it off get rid of some anti-glare or whatever you're putting on the lens? Thanks
Your editor need to work on getting clean audio, it sounds like you had two microphones mixed, i.e. two cameras audio mixed at once, that don't usually work well, you get odd audio that sometimes sounds like it's in a can, or here like an echo chamber. Interesting video. Nice to see what's inside.
The crystals, after months of use, are now experiencing screen flickering due to cheap, bad capacitors in the headset. When is Pimax going to refund or replace these headsets? A class action lawsuit will destroy you.
There is so much wasted space. Could put more computing power in those areas beside the lenses. Tho weight would be an issue. Maybe a way to lower the weight is to try replacing the plastic shell with a strong durable water resistant cloth wrapped around the frame.
Mostly screws, not easy to break plastic hooks. I like it. Panels are small, the case is huge. I don't like it. (Probably standardized oversized case for the upcoming 12k as well).

Thanks for the 200 extra euro Pimax! - 120Hz? Stable? No problem. :) You're lucky if it works at 90Hz without flashing. - Pimax give me a bad charger that almost ruins the whole system and doesn't charge and just flashes the screen reboot etc. I had to buy a proprietary USB HUB because the one that comes with the Pimax Crystal just doesn't work. More crap. More than 2000 euro!!!!! Just sayin.... - Comfort? Also, you can spend money on accessories while the marketing bullshit and the paid youtubers said that it's super comfortable and you just need to strap on a rubber strap and everything will be fine. Why did you choose to not make a more compact housing for the crystal? A lot of free space inside.

HOw many nits of usable (not overexposed) brightness can Crystal displays put out?
